Hi Jayaram,
Welcome to the Google Photos Help Forum.
Could you please confirm if your photos were backed up in Google Photos? If yes, could you please check if you can find out the photos through the web version of Google Photos?
If not, I recommend checking the below options to find them:
- Blogger
- YouTube
- Gmail
- Google+
If you don't find them, I recommend looking for the photos using the below links:
- drive.google.com (under Google Photos)
- get.google.com/albumarchive
- other online photo or file storage services you use (e.g. Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud).
For more information, please check the Help Center Article on finding missing photos & videos.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best,
Emma

Hi Jayaram,
Appreciate your response.
As the photos were not backed up to Google Photos before getting deleted from your SD Card, unfortunately, it is not possible to restore them.
Hope this helps.

My Photoscan app is taking up over 6 GB of space. It appears that the photos have been added to Google Photos, as I wanted. I'm a) curious why they would be saved in the Photoscan app as well, and b) concerned that there's a reason for them being saved and I'm afraid to delete them out of the app.
Answer:
Hello Kristen,
Welcome to the Google Photos Help Community.
Just to let you know that deleting photos from the PhotoScan app will also get deleted from gallery on your device.
Hence, I'd suggest you backup all of your photos of the PhotoScan app from your Gallery to Google Photos and then delete them from the PhotoScan app. This will delete the photos from both PhotoScan and gallery but not from the Google Photos.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best,
Sonya
Answer:
Thank you Sonya.
As I mentioned, I do see them in Google Photos. I don't see a way to select the photos within the app and then send them go Google photos to backup as you suggest. It seems I can only select one at a time and then the only option is to delete. I can SHARE each, but that's it. If I do figure out a method to select all 700 or so and then back them up to Google photos (again), will that cause duplicates?
Thank you!
Answer:
Hey Kristen,
Thanks for writing back.
Unfortunately, there isn't any way to share the photos with multiple selection from the Photoscan app.

I just noticed that I messed up on my photo book and want to cancel the order, fix and reorder. I placed the order last night. They say they dont print the books for 3-4 days after purchase so I would like to cancel before printing starts.
Answer:
Hi Karen,
Unfortunately, you can only cancel an order if it's within 60 minutes after you bought the book.
- On your computer, open photos.google.com.
- Sign in to your Google Account.
- On the left, click Photo books.
- Under "Past orders," select a photo book.
- To cancel an order, click Cancel order and then Yes.
Since your post indicates you placed the order last night, it is likely too late to cancel. You might want to check your email for any confirmation from Google Photos to see if they provide additional options.
Best,
Joe

Answer:
I had made a mistake on the shipping address for my order, and although it was within a couple minutes Google doesn't have an easy way to edit the shipping address. I had to cancel the whole thing and reorder it. Well I ended up messing up again, and canceling again. Third time's the charm right? I ordered it the third time, everything was correct and I purchased it. Today, 2 emails come that 2 books were sent out. I had canceled 2 of the 3 orders. only one should be sent. This is a failure of Google to meet the user experience needs of the customer - and edit orders easily.

I have about 20 photos from last month taken on my google pixel 3 that will not upload to google drive. Google photos on my phone says that the back up is complete but the individual photos have have the upload to cloud icon. When I click on this they say they are uploading but they have been trying to upload for a week now and nothing has happened. This means my phone has been connected to different wifi, been charged and been restarted. I stopped all of them from trying to upload and retried one at a time and this will not work either. Photos take before and after these photos have uploaded fine.
Answer:
Also having the same problem. Am trying to upload photos and videos to drive with no luck. Have restarted the phone, disconnected and reconnected to wifi but no luck.
Answer:
I am also having this problem. The photos that aren't uploading are specifically ones taken during days when I had no internet or data connection (I was on a cruise and had my android set to airplane mode for a few days). All photos taken after I was back on data (and off airplane more) upload just fine. Photos I just tried taking upload just fine. I also tried restarting the phone, disabling and reenabling the app, canceling and reinitializing upload for all individual photos, disabling and enabling all backup settings options, but nothing seems to work. When I try to upload the individual photos, it will say it's "Uploading" but will not give a progress bar. "Backup Complete" ha! Lies.
Answer:
i'm having the same problem. Never had problems uploading pictures from the camera roll of my iphone 11 to google drive app before and then all of a sudden they won't. the photos look like they are downloading but it's just frozen and they never actually upload into drive no matter how long i wait. no progress bar. they just sit there. i tried shutting my phone off and on and checking for updates to google drive and there are none for my app right now. don't know what else to try except airdropping to another device and then uploading to drive from there because it seems to be broken. bizarre.

@Boris
The way to delete photos in Google Photos is to select them (say in batches of 500), then move to trash bin. All you can do is: do NOT select the photos you want to keep. To be safe you should at least keep them also somewhere else, for example download or share and save to the library of another account.

Only later I realized that I they hadn't because I wasn't connected to wifi at the time they were taken. Is there any sort of temporary back up, back up cloud? This happened less than 24 hrs ago.

Hello Kiara, unfortunately not. Unless you use a 3rd party app that can scan your phone for deleted files, there's no way to retrieve those photos.

@Reed
Don't phone Sebastian please !!!!
Picasaweb did not exist in those years - that started around 2007. But you may have used another Google-account in those years (often called a Picasa-account) and no standard Gmail-account you may have started to use much later. So if that is you need to log-in with that old account to the archive left after closing Picasaweb in 2016.
Try to open https://get.google.com/albumarchive
And the pictures still can be on a very old computer or some cd's.
Good luck
Answer:
Thanks- my photos are not in the google album archive- I looked there. If I could only remember how it was they continued to pop up for me for so many years, and now they don't.
I did not reply to Sebastian; in fact, I reported him.
Answer:
The only thing that continuously could pop-up are pictures stored on your old computer in Picasa. But these pictures will not be present on a new computer automatically - even with Picasa installed.
Picasaweb was a website and that only could "pop-up" when opened in your browser. I really can't think of anything else that could pop-up everyday.
Sorry - I don't think anybody can help here if you don't have a backup on a physical disc - not even Sebastian :-)

Question: Santhosh 5.7.18
5.7.Photos
Hi Santhosh,
To assist you better, could you please elaborate the post with a few more details and help me understand what is the exact issue so that I'll be able to address the issue with the best possible solution?
Incase, if you're referring to recover your photos deleted permanently from trash, unfortunately, there isn't any way to recover them. If not, please check if you see the photos/videos on trash as you can always recoverphotos/videos from the Google Photos app trash.
If you have back up & sync on, photos and videos you delete will stay in your trash for 60 days. You can recoverdeleted items by following the below steps:
- Open the Google Photos app
.
- At the top left, tap Menu
, then Trash
.
- Touch and hold the photo or video you want to recover.
- At the top right, tap Restore
. That photo or video will be restored to your Google Photos library and added back into any albums it was in.
Incase, if you're unable to restore from the Google Photos, the following things could be the reasons:
- Photos and Videos moved to trash more than 60 days ago.
- Photos and Videos moved to trash, then emptied your trash.
- Photos and Videos moved to trash permanently deleted from your trash.
If you don't find the photos/videos, I'd recommend you look for your photos/videos here, signing in with all your Google accounts if you have more than one:
- get.google.com/albumarchive
- drive.google.com (under Google Photos)
- other online photo or file storage services you use (e.g. Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud).
I'd also recommend you contact the Google Drive support team as they can restore photos up to 21 days after deletion if the photos/videos are available in the Google Drive. You can click the "Missing or deleted files" entry of the contact form and request a phone call or any other option that works for you.
Check out these handy Help Center articles for more information on how to "See if you can restore deleted photos & videos" and "Find missing photos & videos".
Keep me posted.

I'm on a Pixel 2, very new to Android. I'm using Photos as my pic handling app. On my desktop, I went to Photos, made an album of frequently used images and named it. I am now trying to access this folder from my twitter account & I'm not able to. I can pull up Google Photos, tap on albums & see the album I've created. But twitter has no way of finding it (or any other 3rd party apps). I asked some friends & they said they use the search function to find whatever picture they want in the general 'media' folder made by Photos, but there must be an easier way to organize. This proved a difficult problem to google, so I'm sorry if this has been answered before.
Thanks for any time - Bailee

Answer:
Hi BRG,
Third-party apps integrate the Photos image picker in different ways.
From a new post on Twitter, select the image icon > from the Gallery pulldown menu select More (at the bottom on my phone) > from the photo picker select Left Menu > Google Photos > and navigate to your Twitter folder.
However, I think it is easier to simply share from Photos.
Go to Photos > select your Twitter album > select image and < share icon > select Twitter and proceed with post. It takes just a few taps.
In short, I think the fastest way is to use the share icon from within Photos to another app than trying to use a photo picker from within another app.
Cheers,
Joe

Hi Joe! Thanks for replying.
I was able to reach the Twitter folder you mentioned. This doesn't resolve my issue, unfortunately. The images in the Twitter folder are just ones that I've saved from Twitter. The pics I'm trying to access are ones that were saved to my phone & I'm able to see the folder I placed them in when I open the Photos app.
My main problem is that I would be able to access these images from the Twitter app if I wanted to scroll through all the rest of my photos in the gallery, but having them in a folder & quicker to hand is much easier than me scrolling. Do you know if there's a way to move these images to that twitter folder from the Photos app (so I don't lose that folder)?

I do understand the inconvenience as you're unable to upload photos to your Google Photos. Therefore, I recommend trying the steps below in sequence, this may help in fixing the issue:
- Make sure your device is up-to-date.
- Make sure the App is up-to-date.
- Try restarting the App through the following steps:
- Go to your App Settings.
- Click stop on the afflicted App with the Force Stop button.
- Wait a few seconds to make sure the App has stopped processing, and then attempt to re-start it.
- Close the background running apps through the following steps:
- Go to your App Settings.
- Display the Active Apps on your device.
- Select the App you wish to close and Force Stop it.
- Repeat this step with all active Apps.
- Try clearing your App cache through the following steps:
- Tap the system Settings tab on the main screen of your device.
- Tap the General section of settings that is on the far right.
- Tap Storage in the General tab.
- Clear the cache data once storage calculates the data.
- Back out of the storage section.
- Tap Applications and find the application in question.
- Tap the application and clear the cache (if available).
- Clear the data for the application if there is no cache to clear.
- Exit the settings screen and restart the device.
Let me know if this helps.

Hello!
I am using a MacBook Air and have been getting messages saying that I am out of storage space. While looking through my folders to see what to delete, I happened upon a folder called "Google Photos Backup" (within the "Pictures" folder of my Mac).
I opened my browser version of Google Photos and saw that all of the photos that are in the "Google Photos Backup" folder are visible when I look at my Google Photos on my browser.
My question: If I throw away the "Google Photos Backup" folder contents and empty the trash, will my pictures still remain in my Google Photos site? I just don't want to lose them as I attempt to make space in my computer. Thank you!!!
NB: I am pretty sure that I saved these pics to Google Photos before Backup and Sync was a thing... so I'm guessing that these were saved through the Google Photo Desktop Uploader back in April 2018.

Answer:
Hi Reghill,
I’m sorry, it’s not possible to recover photos permanently deleted from the Google Photos Trash. However, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps and run a scan for anything to recover.
In addition I recommend that you contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Just open the Google Drive https://support.google.com/drive/?hl=en&authuser=0#topic=14940&contact=1 contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.

Question: Why are my pictures tagged with locations I have never been to?
I have been clicking on the photo and then info but it doesn't show a location for me to edit
Hello Barbara,
Welcome to the Google Photos Help Community.
To assist you better, could you please confirm if you've tried the below steps to edit or remove a location:
- On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
- Open the photo or video.
- Click Info
.
- Next to the location, click More
Edit
.
- Add or select the location. You can also select 'No location' to remove the location.
You can also edit the location of multiple photos by selecting the photos
More
Edit location.
Just a heads up: If you turn off Location History, Google Photos will stop estimating and remove all estimated locations on your photos. Learn how to turn Location History off.
- You can edit a location that you've added or was estimated by Google Photos.
- When you edit the location that was saved by your camera's GPS, it will replace that location, but it won't delete it. The original location saved by your camera's GPS will only appear when you download the photo or share it to other apps. The location that you added will only be shared within Google Photos.
Keep me posted.
Best,
Sonya

This was not helpful. I don't have a computer, only an iPad. In my iPad there are no strange locations. They only show up on my phone. When I open a picture or video and click on info there is no location listed and no option for me to edit or remove a location. I have already turned off geo location.

I don't understand how this works. It seems all the photos from my camera folder are indeed on Google Photos, I checked on my laptop and the pictures on my galery and camera folder are indeed uploaded but still Google says that I only have uploaded 30go so far. Which is impossible since I have approximately 70go of photos and videos on my phone + other photos I am storing on my hard drive.
Does anyone here have an idea ? I am walking in the streets of Colombia and I would prefer to have everything backed up in case anything happens to my phone you know...
Have a look at the screenshots I am providing, this doesn't make much sense to me.

Question: Fine My pictures

Question:
Your search - My husband and I recently returned from a European vacation. My iPhone was so filled with photos that about half way through the trip, it could no longer back up. When we returned, I ensured that all of the photos from our trip were saved to Google Photos. They were. I then deleted them from my phone to free up space. When I went back to double-check that all the priceless pictures were still in Google Photos, I was distraught to see that they were not. They were literally there one minute, and gone the next. Please tell me there is a way to recover those photos. Perhaps if I can revert my Google Photos to where it was last night or ealier today, when they were all there?
Answer:
Hi Crystal,
Thanks for writing on the Google Photos Help Community.
To assist you better, could you please let me know if you've deleted the photos from your Camera roll? If yes, it looks like the photos and videos didn't backed up properly to your Google Photos account. Could you please check if you're able to see the photos and videos on web (photos.google.com)? If not, please check in Recently Deleted album as you can always recover the deleted pictures from youriOS Photos " Recently Deleted album" box.
If they are still missing, then unfortunately there isn't a way to retrieve them. Going forward, I'd suggest deleting the photos and the videos using the Google Photos Free up Space option to avoid any data loss as it is the best way to remove a backed-up video/image from your phone, leaving it in the cloud, and this will only delete the files which are backed up completely on Google Photos. To do so, please follow the steps from "Free up space on your phone" help center article.
Also, try checking your backup status on your phone and check if you're able to see the photos and videos on web (photos.google.com) before you delete them on your phone:
- Open the Google Photos app on your mobile device
.
- At the top left, touch the menu icon
> Assistant.
- Read the first card. If it says:
- "Waiting for connection" or "Waiting for Wi-Fi": You need to either change your settings or connect to a Wi-Fi or mobile network. Touch the card to change your settings.
- "Back up & sync is off": Touch "TURN ON" on the card to back up your device's photos and videos, including ones you capture in the future.
- "A photo or video was skipped": A photo or video on your mobile device doesn't meet our upload requirements:
- Photos can't exceed 75MB or 100 megapixels
- Videos can't exceed 10GB
- "Backing up photos" or "Backup complete": This means your photos and videos should be saved.
Just a heads up: Photos and videos that aren't backed up will have this cloud icon
or circular-arrow icon based on the version of Google Photos App on your phone.
If you're still facing the issue, try the steps from this "My photos aren't being backed up" help center article.
Let me know if this helps.
Best,
Sonya

I have not used Picasa that much. But I have thousands of miscellaneous photos from the time when Google Photos wasn't a thing. Now since I know G Photos can upload and organise my newly clicked photos but what if I just throw those thousands of miscellaneous photos at this app? How G Photos is going to organise it? Miscellaneous WhatsApp images, text pictures, screenshots, photos from my childhood etc.
What I am afraid of is what if Google Photos F 'up all the photos and organised my photos on and uneven dates. Because most of the photos are undated or wrongly dated.
Answer:
Google Photos can absolutely accept thousands of old photos from several different sources and automatically sort them by date. BUT, you worry me with your last statement: "most of the photos are undated or wrongly dated" Google can only keep photos in date order - according to the date stored with the photo! So, if the date is wrong on the photo, it will be in that wrong order in your Google Photos library. If a photo has no date, it will be assigned the date you uploaded it.

I have had all location based stuff for my account disabled for years now, have location blocked on the camera app on my phone. Yet Google is still finding a way to assign locations to things I don't want locations tied to. It's even assigning locations to some DLSR photos that I have scrubbed the EXIF tags on when exporting.
When I try to manually go in and set the location to "No Location" or to a random location, it appears to think for a second but then refreshes the page w/ the same photos still in the location album...
Under the tips section for removing a location it states "Tip: If you turn off Location History, Google Photos will stop estimating and remove all estimated locations on your photos.

I have confirmed location History is disabled for my account. So I'm wondering where are these locations coming from? and more importantly how can I stop it?
It's a bit disconcerting when you've gone out of your way to specifically disable all location tracking yet it's still finding a way to track you. Even going as far to add new locations to old photos that did not have any location associated with them, then ignoring the new location when you attempt to change it manually.
Is there any way around this? or is this just the price to pay for using Google Photos?

I do understand the inconvenience as your Google Photos is getting crashed. Therefore, I recommend trying the steps below in sequence, this may help in fixing the issue:
- Make sure your device is up-to-date.

How do I share pictures with multiple accounts automatically.
You can create a shared library but unfortunately can only do that with one person. There's not automatic way to share photos automatically with multiple people, but can create a shared album, invite the people you want to share the photos with, and then add all new photos to that album so you don't have to re-share each time new photos are uploaded.

Question: My photo parsonal
My photo recovery
Hello Raju,
Welcome to the Google Photos Help Community.
To assist you better, could you please confirm if you've deleted the photo permanently from the trash? If yes, unfortunately, there isn't any way to recover them. If not, please check if you see the photo on trash as you can always recover photos from the Google Photos app trash.
If you have back up & sync on, photos and videos you delete will stay in your trash for 60 days. You can recover deleted items by following the below steps:
- Open the Google Photos app
.
- At the top left, tap Menu
, then Trash
.
- Touch and hold the photo or video you want to recover.
- At the top right, tap Restore
. That photo or video will be restored to your Google Photos library and added back into any albums it was in.
Incase, if you're unable to restore from the Google Photos, the following things could be the reasons:
- Photos and Videos moved to trash more than 60 days ago.
- Photos and Videos moved to trash, then emptied your trash.
- Photos and Videos moved to trash permanently deleted from your trash.
Here's a useful help center article for more information on how to "See if you can restore deleted photos & videos".
If that's not the case, could you please elaborate the post in detail?
Keep me posted.

Question: Why filed fotos are not removed automatically and need to go to Archive?
Find out whether Archive file is a duplicate of albums
Not everyone archives photos as soon as they're placed in an album. Everyone has their own prefences about what should and should not be archived which is why Photos does not auto-archive anything. The assistant will make suggestions occasionally about things to archive such as screenshots or photos of receipts, but again they're just suggestions since everyone chooses to manage their photos differently.
