I'm trying to uninstall Google Photo Backup on the Windows Server 2012 RDS of a client (it launch at startup only for one user) but I'm unable to do it.

The software doesn't show up on the control panel. I already tried to delete all Google folders on program files, appdata of the user, install/uninstall google backup and sync and nothing works at all.

Is there a manual way to uninstall it or at least stop it from startup ? There's no service related and startup programs on msconfig is disabled since it's a RDS server.

At the top left, tap Menu Trash .
Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.

If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.

@Tray: Unfortunately, I suspect that what has happened is that you deleted the images before they were successfully backed up to the cloud. If that's the case and if they are no longer on the phone, there is no way to recover them. That said, below are standard instructions when photos are lost; again, I doubt they will be helpful, though (and some are not applicable to your case). I'm sorry.

Needless to say, hope this can be solved as I can imagine how frustrated you must be. An initial question for you is whether you ever recall seeing your images anywhere but on the phone (or similar device) that you used to take the pictures. More specifically, did you ever see your images at Google Photos (photos.google.com) on a browser of your laptop or tablet or other device? If not, though this is no comfort, I know, it is possible that the images were never actually backed up but perhaps merely queued to back up (a distinction that is sadly confusing on many phones and tablets). If the answer is that you have viewed the photos at the Google Photos site, there is an excellent chance that they are there and that you will be able to recover them.

In any case, in searching Google for missing images you should check the following sites (being sure to sign in with the same Google Account you used on the phone or device with which you took the pictures):

photos.google.com/trash
get.google.com/albumarchive
drive.google.com (in the Google Photos Folder, if one exists)
https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ (Recently Added)

As far I know, the deleted items "folder" automatically is emptied after 30 days, so you need to do nothing.

But when deleted, they will not be removed from Google.

But always try with a few terrible bad pictures to be sure and then open the Google app to see if nothing goes wrong there.

The picture not removed by "FUS" are not at Google either: probably some strange Apple format.

So you should find out yourself.

But pictures downloaded from Google Photos because they were removed by FUS, will not be removed from Google when the local copy is deleted by you just because it is a copy - not the original which is at Google.

I see you're trying to create a 'They grow Up Sp Fast' movie and are unable to pick a child. Please know that, this feature works best when you have lots of photos of a child and face grouping turned on on your account. If not, please follow these steps:

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
Sign in to your Google Account.
Tap Menu Settings Group similar faces.
Turn on Face grouping.

Once you turn on the face grouping, Google Photos does take a certain amount of time to scan the photos and add them in the 'People' folder. I'd suggest you to sit back and relax and wait for a couple of days and try creating a 'They grow Up Sp Fast' movie as you'll be able to select a face group of a child.

If that's not the case and you already have Face grouping turned on, please try these steps:

Close the Google Photos app and re-launch it.
Sign out and sign back in to Google Photos with the same Google Account.
Clear App data:

Open your device's Settings app (not the Google Settings app).
Touch Apps.
Select Google Photos in the list.
Touch Clear data.

Update the Google Photos app on your Android phone:

Visit the Google Play Store.

I have been able to upload photos by copying the image address from a web page and pasting it into the file name location until recently following a Windows 10 update. When I try now, the image attempts to upload, but then the page crashes. I've tried this multiple times. I'm able to upload photos by dragging & dropping them from my "pictures" folder, but of course those are downloaded on my PC. I would like to save space on my hard drive so I don't want to have to download the images before uploading them on Google Photos. I've tried uploading in an incognito window and it gives the same message. I've also restarted my computer and nothing has changed. The issue seems to be with Chrome considering that it allows me to upload in Microsoft Edge; however, I would like to continue uploading in Chrome. If anyone could educate me on how to fix the problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

How is this not receiving more attention??? This stinks so much. Also, the process dougsap describes is how to do it the completely backwards and slow way that this process is handled on Mac OS and on Linux.

I've actually been trying to figure out how to accomplish this on Linux. It's a HUGE feature that is far too ignored.

On WINDOWS - the way it works is FAR FAR FAR more efficient. You simply paste the url into the file dialog and windows downloads the file to a temp directory and then uploads it. This skips steps 3, 4, and 5 which are manual redundant time wasters. When you need to repeat this process 30, 50... 100 times a night? This makes a HUGE difference. I have had to switch browsers. Chrome has become entirely inferior now.

I do understand the inconvenience as you're unable to view the files from your Google Photos in an Android device. Therefore, I recommend trying the steps below in sequence, this may help in fixing the issue:

Make sure your device is up-to-date.
Make sure the App is up-to-date.
Try restarting the App through the following steps:

Go to your App Settings.
Click stop on the afflicted App with the Force Stop button.
Wait a few seconds to make sure the App has stopped processing, and then attempt to re-start it.

Close the background running apps through the following steps:

Go to your App Settings.
Display the Active Apps on your device.
Select the App you wish to close and Force Stop it.
Repeat this step with all active Apps.

Try clearing your App cache through the following steps:

Tap the system Settings tab on the main screen of your device.
Tap the General section of settings that is on the far right.
Tap Storage in the General tab.
Clear the cache data once storage calculates the data.
Back out of the storage section.
Tap Applications and find the application in question.
Tap the application and clear the cache (if available).
Clear the data for the application if there is no cache to clear.
Exit the settings screen and restart the device.

Unfortunately no, if you only sync pics when on wifi your only hope is finding the phone, or they connect it to wifi before they pitch/sell/wipe it.

If your pics sync on mobile connection and they didn't sync because the phone was turned off, it is *vaguely* possible they power it back on and pics sync. But it would also ping on find my phone etc....

Could you please try uninstalling and reinstalling the Google Photos app to see if it helps? Also, make sure it is currently up to date.

If that doesn't help, I recommend trying these troubleshooting steps in a sequence and see if any help:

Do a force restart by holding the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logoappears.
If the application freezes or is not responding, you can force the app to close by holding the powerbutton until the red slider Slide to Power Off appears. Do not slide the slider. Instead, hold the homebutton for 5 or 6 seconds, and you should be returned to the home screen.

Lastly, you can try the below mentioned steps if all else fails:

Go to Settings.
Turn on Airplane Mode.
Wait a few seconds, and turn it back off.
Tap on the Settings icon.
Select the General menu.
Scroll to the bottom and tap on Reset.
Select Reset Network Settings.
The device will take a minute or so to reboot.

I'm having the same issue, but the steps mentioned above do not resolve the issue...turning off notifications doesn't fix it, but only silences the error.

My iPhone 8 is completely up-to-date, the apps are as well. This started happening about 1.5 months ago.

Recently I keep getting a notification on my iPhone after closing the app. It states "Backup has stopped because the app was forced closed. Tap to resume backup." I believe the "Backup complete" message is correct and the ~backup cannot be completed because the app was force closed~ is incorrect.

Like Fred and everyone else mentioned I imagine I am still experiencing the issue, but I just have the issue silenced.

Since the main backup function is working as intended I thought of this as a best happy medium, but it should be something that gets resolved by someone maintaining this tool.

You won't be able to restore a photo if:

You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
You permanently deleted it from your trash.
You permanently deleted it from your device's Gallery app, without backing it up first.

You may want to see if you shared the images with anyone else either on Google photos or social media prior to deleting it to see if you can recover a different way.

Kavuri, deleted Photos are stored in Trash for up to 60 days, if you delete Photos again from trash, that's two times deletion.

Unfortunately, once Photos are deleted from trash there is no way to retrieve them back :(

Thanks for posting in the Google Photos Help Forum.

I do understand the inconvenience as you're unable to view your photos under the Places folder of Google Photos. Therefore, I recommend trying the steps below in sequence, this may help in fixing the issue:

Make sure your device is up-to-date.
Make sure the App is up-to-date.
Try restarting the App through the following steps:

Go to your App Settings.
Click stop on the afflicted App with the Force Stop button.
Wait a few seconds to make sure the App has stopped processing, and then attempt to re-start it.

Close the background running apps through the following steps:

Go to your App Settings.
Display the Active Apps on your device.
Select the App you wish to close and Force Stop it.
Repeat this step with all active Apps.

Try clearing your App cache through the following steps:

Tap the system Settings tab on the main screen of your device.
Tap the General section of settings that is on the far right.
Tap Storage in the General tab.
Clear the cache data once storage calculates the data.
Back out of the storage section.
Tap Applications and find the application in question.
Tap the application and clear the cache (if available).
Clear the data for the application if there is no cache to clear.
Exit the settings screen and restart the device.

You have to download the mail-attachment to your computer or download from Google Drive.

Then you can use the printing software delivered with your printer and installed on your computer to get a neat 4x6 print on photopaper.

The original picture must have at least 1500 pixels longside.
