Sometimes it will be happy eg Porthpean Beach, other times it has no knowledge of the whole street eg Sawles Road, St. Austell. Some time it finds it if you add or remove info. There must be some logic to it.

In general you should type the location-names which are boldprinted on google maps indeed, but the centre of that location can be many 100 meters away from your real spot and then you better can type nothing. 

That often also can be the case with the so-called estimated locations by Google: I often have to delete these because they are too far away. And that is irritating even more. 

Google really seems to have completely forgotten how good they have been between 2006 and 2016 and strange enough it still is possible in Picasa to pin the location on maps quite precisely, even for a batch of pictures shooted on the same spot or nearby. But if they discover that, they also will murder that feature. 

So you only can send a feedback from the main menu of photos.google.com to ask for bringing back that old quality, but I am afrraid that you will need to wait until Christ 2020 or forever.

Your can check through the browser 
how this file is shown there?
 If everything is in order through the browser, then you can try to reinstall the Photos app. 
To do this: delete the Photos app or updates for it,
 then delete the data from Google Play Services,
 and then delete the cache in the Storage section in Settings.
When this is done: download the Photos app again and see the result.

 If it does not help, and your files will still be shown incorrectly, then send feedback to the Photos team.

Google Photos (photos.google.com) and Google Drive (drive.google.com) are different services. So if you have backed up your images (photos and videos) in Google Photos,  then they will not appear in Google Drive unless you go into the Google Drive settings and choose to create a Google Photos folder of Google Drive. There is no reason to do this unless you have a specific purpose; the images are backed up in Google Photos whether or not you create a Google Photos folder in Google Drive.  (As for your File Manager: this is something specific to your phone and not related to Google Photos unless you have taken the steps to remove images from the phone once they are backed up to Google Photos.)

When you delete photos from your iOS photos library, iCloud usually conveniently keeps them in a Recently Deleted album in the iOS photos app. You might be able to restore your deleted photos by following these instructions:
  1. Open the Apple photos app (not Google Photos)

Normal albums have got a name you have typed yourself -  like "Paris-2017". 
So you also find that album by typing "paris". 
But if you select a number of pictures and then click Share, a fake-album is created with a date-name. 
If so, you should find such an album under the tab Shared.

  • There are more similar complaints, but we do not know why. I guess that the system may be overloaded and you have to wait.
  • Some turned "Face grouping" off/on but you risk that nothing comes back for a while. Not recommended.

Permanent = permanent, so not recoverable, because the trash is there to make accidental deletions recoverable if not emptied also. 
And as long as we don't understand why people do these dangerous actions day-in day-out, Google can't improve anything to prevent that.

  • You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
  • You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
  • You permanently deleted it from your trash.

Not clear which type of "albums" your are talking about, but many don't need to be visible at Google Photos at all and most are private to you only like everything under Autobackup. These day-albums are not visible on GP, but the pictures inside are just part of your library in Photos. 

And if you have created public albums on Picasaweb in the past, they can be opened and set to private. But then you may break their sharing with family and friends. 


If you use Blogger, you should not touch the Blogger-album at all - else you may ruïne your blogs.

Just because you can see it at the album archive doesn't mean everyone can. You can try signing out of your Google account and going to the page to see what Others can see. Also you can open any album and at the top it will say "only you", "limited" or "Public". For a Limited or Public album, you can click on the word Limited/Public, then Make Private.
 
The only reason photos would be in Album Archive but not Google Photos is if they came from another location in your Google account (Blogger, Maps, etc). There's no way to hide photos in the alumb archive, this is all photos on your account.

Thank you for replies.

Regarding photo sharing. I know where and when these photos were made.
And I cannot remember that I used anything except Google Photos.
Never used Picas, never used Blogger. Only profile picture was used as actually profile picture.
The rest is just photos from my smartphone.
And somehow these photos are only in Albums, but not in Photos.
And yes, I'm sure that part of these photos are visible to anybody.
I just open the link in Incognito and see several albums even without logging in Google account.

Regarding privacy. There is no options in Albums interface to make these photos Private.

Am I right that download backup copy from Albums and deleting the albums which I do not want to share - is the only way?


Answer:

Most likely these "albums" are automatic contributions to Google Maps caused by using the wifi of some hotel or restaurant. You can remove these in the menu of Google Maps under your contributions. 
Also look carefully through the ugly settings in Location History on your Android which may have allowed such unwanted contributions.

That archive just is used by Maps for storing your posted pictures and because they are public on maps, these "albums" are public also. Don't bother - no one is looking into your archive at all, unless you still would have shared albums (with many pictures) from your Picasaweb-years. But you never have used that service.

Encountered a strange issue when trying to share my Google Photos library.  Under Settings I share my entire library (All Photos).  I enter the Gmail address of the Partner account and in the lower left it says invitation sent.  Nothing is received on the other end though mine says shared and I am even getting reminder emails that says I am sharing my library with the other person.  Both parties have checked blocked settings and none exist.  I did share the library with this person before and they accidentally removed it.  I just simply removed the partner and re-added them and I am now encountering this behavior.  Can a person not be re-added to partner access?

I think they can, except when that person already shares his/her library with someone else (or the other way around). If both have nothing under "Shared libraries" in https://photos.google.com/settings it should work. If it does not there must be a king of bug somewhere, or you may have to wait a while after canceling a share. 
Note that if you try to share your library with a person who already shares with someone else (which is not allowed), you would expect a warning straight from the start. But there is no warning at all: it just looks like the invitation was sent, but it never arrives.

Sounds like we are on the right track.  The account I am attempting to share with is currently sharing with another person (my husband).

I guess let me elaborate a little more to see if we can arrive at a solution.  I have a google account.  My husband has a google account.  Both accounts are attached to their respective Google Photos accounts with 15GB storage.  Both are full with photos.  The idea was to create a new account ("shared") and purchase 2TB or storage, share both individual accounts with the "shared" account and turn on auto-save.  The individual accounts would be "transient" as they would get the uploads of pictures from the phone, share with the "shared" account, the "shared" account would auto-save, then we could delete the photos in our individual accounts periodically to remain below the 15GB.  It works great for my husband's who's account is already attached to the "shared".  Do you see a solution here or do I need to manually toggle back and forth sharing on the "shared" account between my two individual accounts?

Note that having your photos ONLY in one account on Google Photos is NOT safe. There are thousands of posts on this forum about missing photos, often by user mistake, but also by hacked accounts, lost devices, corrupt photos or bugs.  I would therefore strongly recommend to also have them elsewhere:
  • The cheapest would be to share the library with a second Google account set to "High Quality". That already protects against most risks (except a disaster at Google). 
  • Or you can sync from mobile devices or computer to another service like OneDrive, Dropbox and others, and if wanted from there to a computer.

There is actually no way to share libraries otherwise than between 2 "partners". But you can sign in to the same account from different devices:

Question: 15 GB quota

My 15 GB quota of Google is filled, now I deleted my photos but still, there is no change in quota, …

It may take some time before the available storage is adjusted after deleting files. I am afraid that there is nothing we (users) can do but wait.
