President Trump Issues New Order To Transgender Soldiers Liberals Will NOT Like This
we are pouring through a brand new directive straight from the President's
desk on the role of transgender people serving in the military the president
releasing a document tonight saying those with a history or diagnosis of
gender dysphoria those who may require substantial medical treatment are
disqualified from military service except under limited circumstances
Leland Vitter joins us live he's digging through the details he joins us now
Leland well there are a lot of details 48 pages of a memo that came out at 9:30
at night and for all of the nuance of trying to understand those 48 pages of
new government policy well the reaction tells you just about everything civil
rights groups and Chan gender advocacy groups are furious first for the policy
from the president's memo that came out this evening quote the policy set forth
by the Secretary of Defense state the transgender persons with a history or
diagnosis of gender dysphoria individuals who have the policies state
may require substantial medical treatment including medications and
surgery are disqualified from military service except under certain limited
circumstances more on that in a minute from the Secretary of Defense when panel
the group of civilian and military experts to examine transgender service
the Department of Defense concludes there are substantial risks associated
with allowing the accession and retention of individuals with a history
or diagnosis of gender dysphoria and require or have already undertaken a
course of treatment to change their gender secretary mattis goes on to say
that having transgender troops is not conducive to military effectiveness and
lethality we keep hearing that word over and over and while the new policy allows
a few narrow exceptions it is not enough for the ACLU who said the White House
has released tonight is transphobia masquerading as policy this policy is
not based on an evaluation of new evidence it is reverse engineered for
the sole purpose of tearing out president Trump's reckless and
unconstitutional ban undermining the ability of transgender service members
to serve openly and military readiness on the whole on
the other hand the Center for military readiness says the policy does not go
far enough in part from their statement the president says this announcement
today says nothing about ending political correctness in the military I
promise that President Trump made and we were hoping he would keep on the other
side of the right the Family Research Council saying the president is keeping
his promises and advancing policies essentially to keeping our military
strong and our country safe clearly Shannon what is clear is that
there are these deeply held feelings on both sides and both sides will have no
problem telling any judge or any court that where they can find how they feel
about it yeah and I think that's got to be where this is headed next it's been
there already and it'll be back again soon for sure Leland thank you for
digging through on this late-breaking news right that's okay thank you god
bless you and God bless america
