Trump says U.S. to be flexible on tariffs to true friends - Duration: 2:35.
U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order imposing 25 percent tariffs
on steel imports and ten percent on aluminum.
As he previously alluded to, Mexico and Canada are likely to be exempt pending the outcome
of ongoing negotiations on NAFTA.
Park Jong-hong reports.
In the end, President Trump stuck to his guns.
This despite fierce protests from trading partners and even collective concern from
members of the Republican party who claim the measures would weaken the competitiveness
of U.S. industries.
"Today, I'm defending America's national security by placing tariffs on foreign imports of steel
and aluminum.
We will have a 25 percent tariff on foreign steel and 10 percent on foreign aluminum when
the product comes across our borders."
But he held off a decision on Canada and Mexico saying that negotiations are ongoing on NAFTA.
He said if the U.S. strikes a deal, there will be no tariffs for the two countries but
if talks fall apart, the U.S. will terminate NAFTA and start all over again.
He did say that he's optimistic a deal would be reached.
In any case, Trump said 15 days remain until the tariffs take effect and exemptions will
be made on a case-by-case basis considering "fairness on trade."
President Trump spoke at length about how the U.S. industry had been taken advantage
of over the years.
He said millions of U.S. workers had been laid off as plants closed all across America
ravaged by the unfair trade practice called dumping.
He said this was not just a disaster for the economy but also national security.
In the future he added there will be many cases of reciprocal tax which is virtually
a tit for tat in tariffs between trading partners.
The tariff decision deals a blow to Korea which will have to come to grips with Trump's
move.
Seoul's Trade Minister Kim Hyun-jong has been meeting with Congressional and Senate leaders
pitching the message was that Korean steel is not a threat to the U.S. steel industry
and is actually contributing to the U.S. economy through local investments.
In the next 15 days, Korea plans to make a final pitch to try to minimize the tariff
impact.

IT'S ON! Trump Just Made MASSIVE Announcement – Obama Humiliated!
After more than a year of constant threats, persistent defiance, and harsh trade repercussions,
North Korea has finally decided to sit down with the United States and talk about the
possibility of denuclearization.
This comes at a time when most of the Trump Administration's opponents claimed the President
would never reach a non-violent end to their issues.
Most of the President's critics were insistent that his lack of political experience would
prohibit him from being able to broker a deal that didn't end in war.
However, whatever the United States has lacked in diplomacy over the past year, we've made
up for in common sense and ability to make business transactions.
Daily Mail reports that not only will the meeting probably take place in the next few
months, but government officials from all over the world have spoken out in support
of the President and his possible new deal with North Korean dictator, Kim Jong-un:
"President Donald Trump has accepted North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un's dramatic offer
to meet, the White House has confirmed.
South Korea's national security adviser Chung Eui-yong first announced the face-to-face
and claimed it was due to take place by May.
However, a statement from the White House did not confirm the two-month timeframe and
said the place and time of the meeting was still being worked out.
'President Trump greatly appreciates the nice words of the South Korean delegation
and President Moon.
He will accept the invitation to meet with Kim Jong Un at a place and time to be determined,'
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement a half hour after South
Korea's announcement.
'We look forward to the denuclearization of North Korea.
In the meantime, all sanctions and maximum pressure must remain.'
Chung, who made the announcement on behalf of South Korea, led the delegation visiting
North Korea earlier this week.
The invitation to meet Trump was made to him directly by Kim.
The foreign official said that Kim understands and accepts the fact that joint U.S.-South
Korean military exercises will continue and that he also made promises to halt nuclear
and ballistic tests until the meeting with Trump takes place.
A U.S. official later said the meeting would take place in 'a matter of a couple of months'
but did not commit the president to a face-to-face with Kim this spring.
'He conveyed that he wants to meet with President Trump as quickly as possible,'
the senior official stated.
The official said the stiff punishing actions on North Korea would also stay in place.
'At this point we're not even talking about negotiations,' the U.S. official said
of a plan to hold North Korea to its word that it would freeze its illicit nuclear and
ballistic missile development programs."
Countries around the world have been monitoring the situation with North Korea's possible
nuclear capabilities, and this possibility of a meeting comes as a welcome surprise.
While many countries are hopeful, the President was clear that they don't intend to let
any of their pressure off of North Korea until an actual agreement is met, ad the denuclearization
process is complete.
President Trump made that very clear in a tweet that said:
"'Kim Jong Un talked about denuclearization with the South Korean Representatives, not
just a freeze.
Also, no missile testing by North Korea during this period of time.
Great progress being made but sanctions will remain until an agreement is reached.
Meeting being planned!' the U.S. president said.
The planned meeting drew immediate praise from other nations.
A spokesperson for the British government said, 'The UK welcomes the South Korean
announcement that Kim Jong Un has made a renewed commitment to denuclearise and will refrain
from further nuclear missile tests while dialogue continues.
'We welcome the announcement of direct talks with President Trump by May and (South Korean)
President Moon Jae-in in April.
'We have always been clear that we want Kim Jong Un to change path and put the welfare
of his people ahead of the illegal pursuit of nuclear weapons.
'We will continue to work closely with the US, South Korea and the international community
to ensure that pressure on North Korea continues and sanctions are strictly enforced until
Kim Jong Un matches his words with concrete actions.
We will continue to monitor developments closely.'
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also welcomed the news, saying that Russia considers
the move 'a step in the right direction.'
He went on to express hope that an agreement would be implemented because it is 'necessary
for normalizing the situation around the Korean peninsula.'
Australia's former prime minister expressed surprise at how 'surprisingly good' Trump
has been at foreign policy compared to his predecessors.
Paul John Keating said the United States was directionless under the previous three administrations
and Barack Obama blew an opportunity to reshape the world.
On Friday Keating said he had not expected Trump to have 'such a pragmatic' foreign
policy on China and Russia, and he urged the U.S. president to continue down the path he
was on."
This step in the right direction is a win for many countries for many reasons, not the
least of which is the release of pressure to the neighboring countries who have been
on high alert.
The lesser battle won is the respect gained for the Trump Administration if they can bring
the North Korea nuclear crisis to a peaceful end.
As it turns out, you don't necessarily need to have decades of political experience to
solve international problems, and you just have to stop helping those who threaten you.

Parkland Victim Shows Up To WH For Meeting Trump & Melania, Delivers Shocking Surprise Instead - Duration: 4:59.
Parkland Victim Shows Up To WH For Meeting Trump & Melania, Delivers Shocking Surprise
Instead Since the February 14 Parkland, Florida shooting,
much of the hate and outrage over the atrocity has been directed at President Donald Trump
rather than the killer himself as well the real issue.
Regardless of there being a number of mass shootings while Barack Obama was in office,
he never received the onslaught of attack and blame like Trump has, despite his contribution
to what caused the increase of shootings in society.
Many teen victims from the school have become puppets for adults with an anti-gun agenda,
using children, as liberals are notorious for, to do their dirty work.
Suddenly, seemingly overnight, teens who had never had concern lofty political topics and
debate, supposedly became Constitutional scholars and advocates for only one cause.
They made bold demands and issued ultimatums to the president, who respectfully responded,
extending many outspoken survivors and invitation to the White House to meet with him over their
concerns – an incredible honor reserved for only a small few each year.
Most students refused to meet him and grandstanded his invitation with disrespectful statements
about what they were going to do instead, but one victim took Trump up on the offer
– 16-year-old Kyle Kashuv.
His name isn't one you have heard, it hasn't become synonymous with the shooting, and he
has yet to appear in a single mainstream new interview.
This is not a coincidence.
So, why would a teen guy like him get the presidential honor when we haven't heard
of him?
Steven Crowder explains:
In the wake of the Parkland shooting, there seem to be two paths for a survivor.
One is to let yourself become a pawn for liberal activists and repeat their talking points
like an automaton.
This leads to loads of praise from trend-following celebs.
At least until they find another shiny new cause-of-the-day to tout.
The other path is for a survivor to not act like a smug jerkface and actually talk to
the people who have the power to make the changes you desire.
Instead of soiling your Huggies and squealing "everyone who disagrees with me is a child
murderer."
Survivor Kyle Kashuv is choosing the non-dirty-diaper path.
Which, if you've been watching the news lately, seems to be the road less traveled.
Kyle has been in Washington DC for the past few days meeting with various lawmakers to
voice his concerns about gun control laws.
When meeting with the First Lady, Kyle showed her the ReachOut app, which he has been promoting
in the wake of the deadly shooting at his school.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting Kyle had said that he supported Trump in the
last election and considers himself a Republican.
But he said the shooting made him reconsider his position on guns, saying there needs to
be stronger background checks to make sure mentally unstable people like Nikolas Cruz
can't purchase weapons.
"Previously I believed that everyone under the Constitution should be allowed to have
guns, but I now realize that not everyone should have guns and we should have way stricter
background checks and mental evaluations,'"he said.
"We need to reach a middle ground and have some reform."
Kyle isn't just talking about the issue, he's being proactive about what he can personally
do to be a solution and not simply a sh*t starter like some of his peers seem to be.
According to Sarah Palin, "his mission, as he says it, is to help the opposing political
parties see eye-to-eye on issues and truly begin to put forth solutions which will actually
help prevent future incidents."
The student showed the president and first lady an app he had created in the aftermath
of that atrocity in hopes of helping students anywhere and possibly preventing another shooting.
When meeting with the First Lady, Kyle showed her the ReachOut app, which he has been promoting
in the wake of the deadly shooting at his school," the Daily Mail reported.
"The app lets students reach students to discuss emotional or mental problems they
might be experiencing."
Wow, this kid really must have some great parents who raised him well with some solid
common sense, or at a minimum, never made excuses for bad behavior or attitude.
This parental example alone is something a lot of people raising kids can learn from
which would really reduce the frequency of issues that plague society, including school
shootings.
It's a hard thing for masters of the blame game to hear, since it takes effort and responsibility,
being with being personally accountable on all of those things, to eventually correct
the issue.
There's no quick resolve to solve it all, especially by controlling an object and not
a behavior.

U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order imposing tariffs of 25 percent
on steel and ten percent on aluminum.
But, backtracking on an earlier "no exceptions" stance, Trump has decided to grant an exemption
to Mexico and Canada... for now.
