President Trump stopped by Walter Reed Army Medical Center on Thursday and presented a

wounded soldier the Purple Heart during his visit.

�One of the most powerful moments of my life watching @POTUS give the Purple Heart

to this American Hero.� White House press secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted Thursday.

�Amazed by the strength and resilience of the men and women in our Armed Forces.�

White House social media director Dan Scavino shared video.

The soldier was identified as 1st Lt. Victor Prato from the 127th Airborne Engineer Battalion.

He was injured last month during a deployment in Afghanistan, after he was involved with

a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device blast and motor vehicle rollover.

He encountered multiple soft tissue injuries as a result.

He is originally from Somers, N.Y., and has served for two years in the Army, according

to Sanders.

The Purple Heart is the nation�s oldest military award and is delivered to members

of the military who encountered injuries or were killed in action.

Trump visited the military hospital complex in Bethesda, Md., ahead of the Christmas holiday

to meet with injured or ill service members from all branches of the military.

Meanwhile, Vice President Mike Pence made a surprise visit to Afghanistan on Thursday

to meet with Afghan leaders and U.S. troops stationed overseas.

Trump said, �The individual mandate is being repealed.

When the individual mandate is being repealed that means Obamacare is being repealed because

they get their money from the individual mandate.

So the individual mandate is being repealed.

So in this bill not only do we have massive tax cuts and tax reform, we have essentially

repealed Obamacare.

And we�ll come up with something that will be much better.

Whether it�s block grants or whether it�s taking what we have and doing something terrific.

But Obamacare has been repealed in this bill.�

On Thursday after he was done celebrating the passage of historic tax reform, President

Trump mysteriously vanished from the White House, and where he was found a short time

later speaks volumes about our new leader.

As many are aware, Republicans and the President alike were jubilant after they passed the

largest tax cuts American have ever seen, but while they all had a lot to celebrate,

President Trump had something more important to tend to.

Yesterday morning he quietly boarded Marine One without telling anyone his destination,

not wanting to heavily publicize where he was actually headed.

Reporters and the public were left wondering what he had going on that he wouldn't expose

his plans to the nation, since just about everything the President does is public knowledge.

However, their questions would soon be answered when Marine One touched down at the Walter

Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington, D.C.

President Trump had made a surprise visit to the brave men and women who'd been injured

in combat, and he personally wanted to thank them for their service and wish them all a

very Merry Christmas.

"President Trump has departed the White House en route to Walter Reed National Military

Medical Center, says he's going to wish the troops a Merry Christmas."

"We'll be over there for a while, but we're just going to wish them a merry Christmas,"

Trump said, according to The Hill.

According to the Independent Journal, this isn't the first time President Trump has

quietly slipped away to honor our troops.

Just after his inauguration, Trump disappeared in just that fashion, only to reappear a short

time later at Andrews Air Force Base — to greet the body of a fallen Navy SEAL.

He did it again Thursday afternoon, just 24 hours after a public press conference cheering

the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act — and he only answered one question before he boarded

Marine One.

As if his trip there wasn't already awesome, the President bestowed an honor to one of

our recovering soldiers, according to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders.

to this American Hero.

Amazed by the strength and resilience of the men and women in our Armed Forces."

How cool is that?

Say what you will about President Trump, but his unwavering support for our troops is admirable,

and it's the much-needed morale boost they've been missing for the last eight years under

Obama.

I'm positive these soldiers getting to see their commander-in-chief just before Christmas

meant the world to them, and after all they've sacrificed for our great nation, they deserved

every bit of it.

folks to say I wasn't keeping my promise I'm keeping my promise Trump said Friday

I'm signing it before Christmas I said the bill would be on my desk before

Christmas and you are holding me literally to that we did a rush job

today it's not fancy but it's the Oval Office president Donald Trump signed the

Republican tax cut bill Friday morning before leaving for his Christmas break

in Florida he also signed the continuing resolution that will keep the government

open through January 19th that includes four billion dollars for missile defense

the House and Senate passed the tax measure into law earlier this week

delivering Trump his first major legislative victory of his first year in

office Trump touted the tax measure as a bill

considering all that the president has accomplished in recent weeks it's no

wonder that when he deplaned in Palm Beach Florida on Friday there was an

incredible Christmas gift awaiting him on the tarmac throngs of his supporters

had come out to greet him many were waving homemade signs bearing messages

like I support President Trump Bigley and Merry Christmas

these men and women braved the holiday traffic to come out and greet Trump just

three days before Christmas when they undoubtedly had a million other things

to do which serves to plainly demonstrate just how loyal the

president's voter base is indeed he seemingly has even more support now

after one year in office than he did when he was campaigning

that's nearly unheard of the throngs of supporters who showed up to great Trump

on Friday were truly the best the Christmas gift the president could ask

for he has been working tirelessly to deliver on the promises he made to the

American people and their enthusiastic support is enough to let him know that

these last 11 months have been a job well done

Fox News has thus far been the only mainstream media outlet to report on the

throngs of supporters who came out to greet Trump on Friday with their

homemade signs the fact that the rest of the press has virtually ignored the

story is really no surprise though if an incident unfolds which makes the

president look good you can be sure that fake news networks

like MSNBC and CNN will spend little to no airtime on it

it makes perfect sense that the media wouldn't want the public to see this

footage of Trump's supporters coming out in droves to greet him in Florida after

all they do not want him to get elected again in 2020 come hell or high water in

their quest to undermine him they are working overtime to convince Americans

that his support is dismal but clearly that isn't true you can see

as much with your own eyes in the above video

The entire 2016 election sparked civic engagement and participation in American democracy like

we haven't seen in generations.

When Donald Trump won in November 2016, many people all over the country woke up shocked.

People felt like they had to do something to express themselves because voting wasn't enough.

Hundreds of thousands of people have gathered to demand equal rights.

We will not go from being a nation of immigrants to a nation of ignorance.

We started the year with a bang right after the inauguration with the Women's March, January 21st.

The streets across the United States and cities across the United States were flooded with

pink pussy hats, people marching, chanting.

Donald Trump has got to go!

Estimates are that three million people marched around the United States as well as abroad.

The next big march in Washington was the March for Science.

Turned out about 100,000 people here in DC who stood in the what ended up being the pouring

rain for much of it, cheering on Bill Nye the Science Guy.

A week later, exactly a week later, was the People's Climate March which was a hot sunny day

And that march turned out about 200,000 people in Washington D.C.

The resistance is the response to the three different components of American politics today.

that has not meaningfully engaged with local communities.

The way that he actually announces his work in many cases insights what we call moral shocks,

which is that he attacks people, he attacks ideas

people actually marching.

I think that a lot of people who are engaging in the resistance are focused more on participating

in other activities other than marching again.

Kill the bill!

The numbers of people who report going to town hall meetings has gone up.

People talking to their elected officials has also gone up, so that while people may

be marching less, they're engaging just as much, if not more.

One of the things that people always ask me is, why march?

What's the point?

How do you know if it's successful?

Well marching on Washington is not going to get somebody to lose power.

And you can't get a bill passed by marching on Washington.

But if marching on Washington helps create this sense of collective identity where then

people go from marching on Washington back into their districts, that's exactly how politics

in America is supposed to work.

Kim Jong-un's regime lashed out after the President announced a new national security strategy to deal with the state's missile programme.

The hermit kingdom branded the strategy a "criminal document" and claimed the US was trying to stifle our country" by turning the entire Korean peninsula into an American outpost.

A foreign ministry spokesman said: "This has fully revealed that 'America first policy' which the gang of Trump is crying out loudly about is nothing but the proclamation of aggression aimed at holding sway over the world according to its taste and at its own free will.".

In the new strategy, announced on Monday, the US said Washington had to take on and could use "overwhelming force". It comes amid claims the US is considering a military attack against the North to put a stop to Kim's nuclear ambitions.

With more missile launches expected in the new year, the White House has reportedly "dramatically" stepped up plans for a military solution. The US is considering destroying one of North Korea's missile launch sites and could also target its weapons stockpiles.

Military action would be designed to warn the North Korean regime that the US is serious about putting an end to Pyongyang's weapons programme.

One former US security official told the Telegraph this week: "The Pentagon is trying to find options that would allow them to punch the North Koreans in the nose, get their attention and show that we're serious." The US has been gradually building up its military presence over recent months.

And it now appears Washington could call upon its assets in the region to launch a debilitating attack on the regime.  It is thought that by attacking the missile test site or weapons stockpiles, the loss of life would be minimised while forcing Kim to negotiate.

The UN Security Council is due to vote today on a US-drafted resolution to toughen sanctions on the regime in response to its latest intercontinental ballistic missile launch.

It seeks to ban nearly 90 percent of refined petroleum exports to Pyongyang by capping them at 500,000 barrels a year and demand the repatriation of North Koreans working abroad within 12 months.

Te resolution would also cap crude oil supplies to North Korea at four million barrels a year, as well as ban a number of North Korean exports such as machinery, lumber, and other products and resources.

Chinese and Russian support would be crucial for any new sanctions to go ahead.
