'Nowhere to hide' Donald Trump warns world 'do not cross US' as he remembers 9/11 victims

The United States fell silent today, in memory of those who died on September 11, 2001, when terrorists hijacked four commercial planes and killed 2,977 people in attacks on New York City, Washington DC and Pennsylvania.

During a memorial service at the Pentagon, where 184 people were killed when the hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the building, the President and his wife Melania joined a minute's silence at 9.37am - the precise moment the plane struck.  Paying a specific tribute to those killed at the US defence headquarters, President Trump said: "For more than seven decades the Pentagon has stood as a global symbol of American might. .

Not only because of the great power contained in these walls but of the incredible character of the people who fill them.

They secure our freedom, they defend our flag and they support our courageous troops all around the world.  "Among the 184 brave Americans who perished on these grounds were young enlisted service members, dedicated civil servants and veterans who served our nation in Korea, Vietnam and in the Middle East.

All of them love this country and pledge their very lives to protect them. That September morning they died as they had lived, as heroes.

Doing their duty and protecting us and our country.  We mourn them, we honour them and we pledge to never, ever forget them.".

The Commander in Chief then added: "The terrorists who attacked us thought they could insight fear and weaken our spirit but America cannot be intimidated and those who try will soon join the long list of languished enemies who dare to test our mettle.

"In the years after September 11 more than five million young men and women have joined the ranks of our military to defend our country against dark forces of evil. "They are relentlessly pursuing and destroying the horrible, horrible enemies.

Enemies we have never seen before. "We are ensuring they never again have a safe haven to launch attacks against our country.

"We are making plain to these savage killers there are no dark corner out of our reach, no sanctuary beyond our grasp and nowhere to hide anywhere on this very large earth.".

Mr Trumps remarks will be read not just as a warning to Islamic State, but also North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, a week after he conducted the countrys sixth nuclear test.

The UN Security Council is set to vote on Monday on a watered-down US-drafted resolution to impose new sanctions on North Korea over the test, although it was unclear whether China and Russia would support it.

A US-drafted resolution originally calling for an oil embargo on the North, a halt to its key exports of textiles and subjecting leader Kim Jong Un to a financial and travel ban have been weakened, apparently to placate Russia and China which both have veto powers, diplomats said.  It no longer proposes blacklisting Kim and relaxes sanctions earlier proposed on oil and gas, a draft reviewed by Reuters shows.

It still proposes a ban on textile exports. North Korea warned the United States that it would pay a for spearheading efforts for fresh sanctions.

Rep. Meadows: Trump debt ceiling deal with Democrats was a 'necessary evil' - Duration: 6:40.

JOHN YANG: Divisions within the Republican Party only deepened after President Trump

sided with Democrats on a big fiscal deal, angering many on the right.

One of those critics was Representative Mark Meadows of North Carolina, the chairman of

the conservative House Freedom Caucus.

He was one of 90 House Republicans to vote against raising the debt ceiling, funding

the government and passing Hurricane Harvey aid.

I spoke with Representative Meadows a little while ago and asked him if the president's

deal means he will bypass Republicans on the Hill to get things done.

REP.

MARK MEADOWS (R), North Carolina: Well, I think that any time that you draw that conclusion,

you're extrapolating out perhaps a scenario that is not justified in this particular case.

But the president is going to make a deal, and he's going to make a deal with anybody

who can actually put legislation on his desk.

The Republicans have not been exactly stellar in that particular category.

And so for us, I don't see it as a trend as much as it is a necessary evil on this particular

time.

We had a debt ceiling that was coming up.

Harvey relief had to pass because of the devastation there in Texas, and so, as we see this, I

am not to concerned.

I think we need to negotiate in good faith.

I talked to the president about not only that vote, but about what he wanted to see for

the remaining months here between now and January, and he's all focused about tax reform.

So he was seeing it as clearing the deck for tax reform.

We look forward to working with him and even our Democrat colleagues on that measure.

JOHN YANG: Let me ask you about something The Wall Street Journal editorial page wrote

last week, and I suspect you know what's coming.

In an editorial, they said -- they described the Freedom Caucus this way: "Claim to be

cooperative, to be working constructively toward some legislative compromise, but then

at a criminal moment, raise its demand vote no, and blame leadership."

What's your response?

REP.

MARK MEADOWS: Well, it would be real nice if the editorial board actually talked to

me.

I have been in Congress over five years.

John, I have now talked to you more than I have talked to the editorial board with The

Wall Street Journal.

They never called.

They never reached out.

So to quote six unnamed sources, to lay out narrative that wasn't only false, but dreadfully

false, I can tell you that we're there to try to get something on the president's desk.

You might remember that it was Tom MacArthur and myself, working with moderates and conservatives,

that actually put forth an amendment that got the bill out of the House and sent over

to the Senate on the health care debate.

And so I don't know that -- well, I can just tell you The Wall Street Journal editorial

board took great liberties without even giving us a call.

JOHN YANG: Do you support Speaker Ryan?

REP.

MARK MEADOWS: Certainly, we support Speaker Ryan.

We have meetings with him on a weekly basis, multiple meetings.

It's all about getting things done.

You know, this is not a question about leadership.

It's the lack of results.

You know, one of my favorite quotes is, no matter how beautiful the strategy, you must

occasionally look at the results.

And I would say that when I was back home in North Carolina during the month of August,

there weren't a whole lot of results that we were getting applauded for, in fact, quite

the opposite.

So it's time that we get some things done, put it on the president's desk, and be serious

about this administration's agenda.

JOHN YANG: Well, let's talk about results then.

You talked about taxes, that that's what the president is focused on between now and January.

REP.

MARK MEADOWS: Right.

JOHN YANG: From your point of view, from the Freedom Caucus point of view, what's going

to define victory on the tax legislation?

REP.

MARK MEADOWS: Well, on the tax legislation, we need to make sure that on the personal

income side of things, the hardworking American taxpayers, your viewers, that they actually

get more of their money in their pocket and they get to keep more of it.

And then so really being very aggressive and making sure that those rates are lower.

Additionally, it's all about making sure that we're competitive.

And the president talks about a growth agenda.

So it's making sure that our companies and our multinationals can compete globally, but

also making sure that what we do is make sure that our tax rate is competitive with the

rest of the world.

And so it's being very aggressive.

We support -- or I have supported a 15 percent to 16 percent corporate rate.

It doesn't appear we are going to be that low, but at the same time we need to be aggressive

and make sure that we put Americans back to work.

JOHN YANG: The president has also asked Congress to do something about the dreamers, to protect

these young people who were brought into the country illegally when they were children.

REP.

MARK MEADOWS: Right.

Right.

JOHN YANG: What would you be willing to support in that area?

REP.

MARK MEADOWS: You know, we're working right now on legislature.

One of the things, when we deal with the dreamers, or DACA issue, as you might mention, it really

all starts with a secure southern border, something that we haven't had.

Today, we're talking about some 800,000 dreamers that would qualify under that deferred action

plan.

But if we don't secure our southern border, how many are we talking about?

A million, two million, five million, what's the number?

So, if we're going to address it, we need to address it comprehensively.

I spoke to the president yesterday on this very subject.

And what it is, is really working with our colleagues, both Democrats and Republicans,

to find a way to not only have a secure border, for national security purposes, as well as

immigration, but also to look at how to do it in a fair and compassionate way.

You know, I have challenged my staff as recent as this morning for us to look at it and see

how we can work together.

So, I think that you will see legislation coming out in the coming months, obviously,

well ahead of this six-month deadline that was put forth in his executive order.

JOHN YANG: Does that necessarily mean a wall, when you say border security?

REP.

MARK MEADOWS: It could define a wall.

I think for a lot of the Trump voters, it does mean a wall.

But really it's more about a secure southern border, how we regulate and monitor who is

coming to our country and who is not.

I get the talk to some of my colleagues who are in some of the border states.

They have some great ideas, and some of their ideas do not include a wall.

So it's all about making sure that we can do what's best for the national security of

the American people.

And, hopefully, we can get there and be prudent, but yet prompt about getting that done.

JOHN YANG: Representative Mark Meadows, thank you very much for joining us.

REP.

MARK MEADOWS: Thank you, John.

Good to be with you.

BREAKING: Trump May Have Another Pardon Up His Sleeve…Obama Hates It | Top Stories Today - Duration: 3:30.

Late last Friday the White House announced that President Trump would pardon popular

Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Now, a major Trump supporter is calling on the president to issue another pardon.

Veteran Republican Strategist and an early advisor to the President Trump election campaign,

Roger Stone, is calling on his former boss to pardon notorious cattle rancher Cliven

Bundy.

"I will return to Las Vegas on Sept 15 to call on @realDonaldTrump to pardon the Bundys

and their supporters," Stone wrote in a recent tweet.

Cliven Bundy, the Bundy family patriarch, was arrested in February 2016 on charges connected

to a 2014 standoff between federal agents and the Bundy family.

Before his arrest, Cliven Bundy was traveling from his family homestead in Nevada to Oregon

to take part in another anti-government protest over land use.

The Bundy family has been engaged in a decade long legal battle with the federal Bureau

of Land Management (BLM).

After paying grazing fees for a number of years, in 1993, Cliven Bundy refused to renew

his grazing permit in an act of protest against the BLM.

In 2014, BLM agents launched a "cattle gather" in an attempt to round up and auction off

cattle owned by Cliven Bundy, which were supposedly trespassing on federal land.

According to the BLM, Cliven Bundy owed the government an excess of $1 million in past-due

grazing fees, reports Oregon Live.

Members of the Bundy family and supporters of their cause formed an impromptu militia

in an attempt to confront the BLM agents.

The federal agents eventually retreated in an attempt to avoid a violent confrontation.

Bundy continued to graze his cattle on federal land.

Almost exactly two years later, Cliven Bundy's sons Ammon and Ryan helped organize a similar

protest in Oregon.

The younger Bundy family members temporally took over the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge

outside of Burns, Oregon.

Ryan and Ammon said they took over the wildlife refuge to protest the recent arrest of local

Burns residents Steven and Dwight Hammond.

The Hammonds were a father and son rancher team who were accused by the BLM of committing

arson on federal land.

The Bundy family arrived in Oregon to protest their conviction in early 2016.

The Bundy family were joined in their 40-day occupation of the wildlife refuge by a large

gathering of supporters.

Near the end of the occupation, Cliven Bundy attempted to travel to the area to aid his

son's cause.

Bundy was arrested while leaving the plane to join the few remaining protesters at the

wildlife refuge.

He was charged with a series of crimes related to his 2014 protest, including interfering

with an officer and weapons related charges.

Ammon and Ryan Bundy were also charged with interfering with a federal officer for their

role in the 2014 protest while organizing the Malheur Park takeover.

Both of the Bundy boys have been acquitted of all charges in their trial which ended

in August this year.

According to The Daily Caller, Cliven Bundy is the only member of the Bundy family still

facing charges.

It will be interesting to see what comes of Roger Stone's meeting with President Trump–and

whether or not another pardon will be issued in a matter of overbearing federal decisions.

what do you think about this?

Trump's Lawyers Wanted Jared Kushner Fired For His Ties To Russia - Duration: 4:03.

According to a new report by The Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump's lawyers back in June

wanted him to get rid of Jared Kushner from the Trump administration, or at least ask

Jared Kushner to step down, because those lawyers were concerned about Kushner's very

cozy relationship with people from Russia, perhaps members of Russian administration,

and they didn't want any of that to somehow affect Donald Trump or end up roping him into

the Bob Mueller investigation that's currently going on.

Trump decided not to do that.

He didn't listen to his lawyers, he didn't listen to the public, to Congress, all of

the people in this country telling him to revoke Jared Kushner's security clearance

-- which, for the record, he still has -- even though we're finding out more and more that,

oh, Kushner met with another Russian.

Kushner met with people he shouldn't have.

Kushner was trying to work deals while still a member of the Trump administration that

could be seen as definite conflicts of interest.

Jared Kushner is a huge liability for the Trump administration, but in true Donald Trump

fashion, he didn't want to listen to people who were smarter than him.

He didn't want to listen to the American public, even those that don't like him, warning him

of how dangerous Jared Kushner would be for his administration, and that's why he's in

the predicament that he's in today.

Maybe he did it because he didn't want to upset his daughter.

However, we've seen him do plenty of things that allegedly go against what Ivanka believes,

so there's no reason to think that he would keep Kushner on board just because he doesn't

want to make his daughter upset.

Furthermore, if Ivanka thought that Kushner was hurting her father's presidency, she should

be the first one to ask her husband to, "Hey, maybe you should resign before you take down

the whole damn family."

Kushner's role in the Trump administration, while pretty much unclear to the public, it's

clear to the Trump administration, to the Trump family, why Kushner is still in that

White House.

They think he's good for business.

They don't care about the investigations.

They don't care that he could take down the whole administration.

All they know is that he's out there trying to work on some business deals that eventually

is going to make this family a lot of money, and if it comes at the expense of big daddy

Don going to prison, the children don't care.

Everyone in that family, including Kushner, who married into it, is out for themselves.

I mean, that's one of the biggest problems we have right now with these people is that

none of them, even though they're all family, even seem to care about one another.

All they want to see is how much money they can get out of it, how much access they can

get out of it, and how many connections they can make from being a part of that Trump family.

This is disgusting behavior.

It's something we might expect maybe from a trailer park here in the United States,

not from the family that occupies the White House, certainly not to the likes of anything

we've seen in modern American politics, but that's what Donald Trump and Jared Kushner

and Ivanka and Don Junior and Eric and all of them are.

They're selfish jackasses who took these positions, currently have the positions that they have

even outside of the Trump administration, because they wanted to see how much more money

they could make.

It doesn't matter if it comes at the expense of Trump's presidency, or Jared Kushner's

freedom, because that kid could very much likely end up in prison.

All that matters is that they get theirs, to hell with everybody else.

Alex Jones Offers Insane Conspiracy Theory To Explain Trump's Mental Decline - Duration: 5:45.

Pretty much since Donald Trump was sworn in as president of the United States, experts

have been giving their opinions on his mental stability or, rather, his mental instability.

He's exhibited signs of possible narcissistic personality disorder and some experts say

he's actually exhibiting signs of Alzheimer's disease because his mental faculty seem to

decline later on it day, which is a hallmark sign of Alzheimer's.

Nonetheless, experts all over the country have been offering their off-the-cuff, off-the-record,

diagnoses and usually these get dismissed as some kind of liberal conspiracy theory,

trying to invoke the 25th amendment.

However, this week, Alex Jones, good friend of Donald Trump, has offered his own theory

as to why Donald Trump is clearly having these mental declines every day.

Take a look at Alex Jones' explanation of what's actually happening to Donald Trump

behind the scenes.

Alex Jones: Ladies and gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen.

I was told this by high level sources that it was evident, and especially after Reagan

was shot in his first year in office when he was acting like Trump and doing the right

things, that he never really recovered.

They gave him cold blood in his transfusion that causes brain damage.

They slowly gave him small amounts of sedatives.

It's known that most presidents end up getting drugged.

Small dosages of sedatives until they build it up.

Trump's such a bull.

He hasn't fully understood it yet, but I've talked to people, multiples ones, and they

believe that they are putting a slow sedative that they're building up that's also addictive

in his Diet Cokes and in his iced tea and that the President, by 6 or 7 at night, is

basically slurring his words and is drugged.

They first had to isolate him to do that, but yes, ladies and gentlemen, I've talked

to people that talked to the President now at 9 at night.

He is slurring his words.

I'm going to leave it at that.

I've talked to folks that have talked to him directly.

Speaker 1: That's right, folks.

It's not anything that we need to take seriously, like perhaps a mentally unstable president

or somebody who is suffering from Alzheimer's.

No, no, no, no, no.

He's drinking drugged Diet Cokes and it's just kind of sedating him so that he goes

to bed or that he's more easily controllable by the government that he's actually running.

Look, there's quite a few holes, obviously, in Alex Jones' theory here.

But what's more interesting is the fact that his audience absolutely eats this up.

He even has a Trump confidante, Roger Stone, spouting these same talking points that, yeah,

Donald Trump is clearly being drugged late in the afternoons to help him be more pliant

and make him a little more restful.

Now, there is absolutely no evidence to suggest any of this.

Jones says that he has high level sources giving him this information.

But this is also the same man who argued in court that his entire persona on the air is

just an act.

He doesn't mean any of it.

He doesn't believe any of it.

It's just a character that he's playing.

But the real damage here, there's actually two sides of this damage.

One is that it undermines a very serious issue and that is, is Donald Trump mentally capable

of fulfilling the duties of the presidency?

The second is that it poisons the discourse among American citizens when you have a large

part of the country that will believe what Alex Jones says and will honestly think that

the President is somehow being drugged with his Diet Cokes or whatever drinks they're

able to fill him up with.

This is not acceptable here in the United States.

What's even more unfortunate about all of this is that there are no laws that say that

Alex Jones could be prosecuted for this or that we could shut him down because he's spreading

these hateful and politically hurtful lies every day.

You can legally do that, unfortunately, in this country.

I think that's an area of free speech that perhaps we ought to consider curtailing when

it causes real harm to the American public and to American political discourse.

Alex Jones is a cancer to American politics and he needs to be removed.

We cannot have intelligent discussions in this country.

We can't have discussions about very serious issues like Trump's mental faculties, climate

change, school shootings, because you have idiots out there like Alex Jones who want

to offer up their crazy conspiracy theories and get their followers to go along with it,

undermining the overall issue and preventing real progress, real change, or even real discussions

about this that we actually need to be addressing.

Alex Jones is responsible for that and it's time to pull him from

the airwaves.

Trump Responds to Hurricane Irma, Bannon Speaks Out: A Closer Look - Duration: 12:27.

-As his administration deals with the aftermath

of Hurricane Irma, President Trump is also dealing

with a brewing storm within his own party

over his decision to strike a funding deal with Democrats,

prompting an absurd new round of punditry

over whether Donald Trump is actually Republican.

For more on this it's time for a closer look.

[ Cheers and applause ]

♪♪

Hurricane Irma began its assault on Florida this weekend

which meant it was time for the flapping rain jackets

of cable news

to take to the air waves

to try and describe

wind and rain.

-It feels like you are being blasted like a fire hose.

-It feels not like raindrops,

but like metal beads,

millions of them just hitting

your body at the same time.

-If you think of what a really

severe sandstorm feels like,

that's what it feels like.

It hurts.

-I feel like I'm feeling

the backwash of a jet engine.

-Just imagine a whole cup of water, but not all at once!

Just little random droplets of it hitting your body,

but way harder than you're used to!

[ Laughter ]

And then of course they reiterated the wise advice

of local officials.

-We have seen a couple of people

that have actually been

out on the beach despite

the warnings that they should not be out here.

-And there goes somebody who really shouldn't be out here.

-Tourists should not be out here.

-They certainly shouldn't be out here.

-You should not be out there!

[ Laughter and applause ]

I mean, who wants to see

Anderson Cooper soaking wet?

Oh, a lot of people? Okay.

Men and women? All right.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Now I'm realizing I do, too.

So that was stupid. Forget I said that.

There were however a few bright spots.

For one thing, there were the heroic acts

of first responders rescuing people in the storm.

Now, you think applauding the bravery of emergency responders

like the Coast Guard would be one of the easiest things

the president could do.

But even that, it seems,

is too much to ask of Donald Trump,

who praised the Coast Guard yesterday by saying this --

-A group that really deserves

tremendous credit is

the United States Coast Guard.

What they have done -- I mean they are going

right into that, and you never know.

You know, when you go in there, you don't know

if you're going to come out. They are really --

if you talk about branding,

no brand has improved more

than the United States Coast Guard.

-Branding? What are you talking about.

The Coast Guard doesn't need to improve their brand.

They're the Coast Guard. They're not Arby's.

[ Laughter ]

They're not a bunch of people around a board room table going,

"Okay, look, people hate the Coast Guard.

We need some razzle-dazzle. No idea is a bad idea!

Yes, Thompson?"

"Uh, what if they tried

rescuing people during a hurricane?"

"That's a freakin' great idea!"

[ Laughter ]

And then there were the Floridians themselves

who weathered the storm and in some cases

knew more about what was going on than the reporters.

Just watch this interview a Fox news reporter did

with an extremely well-informed resident of Miami Beach.

-What do you think about the storm, the power,

the ferocity, and the risk to your own safety at this point?

-Well, at this point, I'm very relieved to discover

that as we speak, the eye of the storm

is practically due south of us

by 220 miles.

-Yeah. -Okay. Because it's crossing

the 80th meridian,

which is 80 degrees west longitude.

So I'm not so worried

because it's so far away.

And it's bearing

as of 8:00 p.m. -- -Westbound.

-Well, not just Westbound.

It was 275 degrees.

That's only 1/15 above due west

toward true north. -Is he right?

-So, this thing is moving

and has been moving

in a very westerly direction.

And because it's several hundred miles

south, the risks are less and less.

I'm not worried.

I don't think it's going to get much worse

than what we are seeing right here.

[ Laughter, cheers, and applause ]

-Look at that reporter.

He looks like he just lost a rap battle.

That answer was amazing to everyone but her

because you know she'd heard it already.

She probably suggested they go outside

so the wind would drown him out.

"80th meridian? Yeah. That's amazing, honey.

Let's go for a walk." Then they walk outside,

and she's like, "Is that reporter asking him

about the storm? Mother [bleep]!"

[ Laughter, cheers, and applause ]

Unfortunately, not everyone

was as well informed as that guy.

Yesterday in the midst of the storm,

President Trump's Director of Social Media,

Dan Scavino, who has repeatedly attacked reporters

and accused them of spreading fake news

tweeted a video of what he said was flooding

at Miami International Airport.

Now, it was an intense scene,

so the tweet had a lot of replies,

including this one from Miami International Airport

that said...

Wow. You know you're bad at your job when even airports

are correcting you.

It's almost as bad as that time LaGuardia tweeted at Trump...

[ Laughter and applause ]

This pretty much sums up the M.O. of the Trump presidency --

Attack the media for saying things that are true,

then repeat something you saw on the Internet that's fake.

The same thing is happening with climate change.

The evidence shows that the effects of climate change

including warmer waters and sea level rise

are making these kinds of extreme weather events worse.

And yet the head of the Environmental Protection Agency,

Scott Pruitt says now is not the time

to talk about it, telling CNN...

That's like crashing your car into a telephone pole

and tell the cops, [Slurring] "This is not the time

to talk about my drinking problem."

[ Normal voice ] So if now's not the time, then when is the time?

Something tells me Donald Trump isn't making a lot of time

in his schedule to discuss climate change.

I'm pretty sure his schedule is already full.

[ Laughter ]

[ Applause ]

Now, Trump's climate change denial is one of many areas

where he's in lockstep with most of the Republican Party.

It's a useful reminder how close Trump is to the rest

of his party, especially after a week in which he seems to be

cozing up to Democrats.

Trump stunned Republicans last week by cutting a deal

with Democrat leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi

to lift the debt limit and keep the government funded

for three months.

Just to give you an idea of how unhappy

Republicans were with the president's

sudden friendship with the Democrats,

look at Mitch McConnell's face during their meeting with Trump

in the oval office last week.

He looks like he just saw a fellow ghost.

[ Laughter ]

That's what the Michelin man would look like

if you let all the air out.

[ Laughter ]

Congressional Republicans were stunned

by Trump's deal with the Democrats.

Watch how flustered Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan was

when he was asked on Sunday why Republicans were not able

to come up with a plan to convince Trump

to side with them.

-Unfortunately there wasn't

any good options presented to

the -- I learned a long time --

My background is the sport of wrestling.

You -- You don't prepare, you're not gonna --

you don't do that -- the preparation and go to pa--

We didn't even have a practice

to figure out what we were going to do.

-Your background is wrestling?

Based on that eloquent answer,

I had you pegged for the debate team.

[ Laughter ]

What did you wrestle, words?

[ Laughter ]

To be fair to Jordan,

defending Trump would make anyone's brain melt.

You see, the president is his own --

there are situations where either path --

I'm a dog guy, and we have a golden retriever, and I --

I have nothing.

[ Laughter ]

And now Trump's hostility to certain Republicans in congress

like Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake

has GOP leaders worried ahead of next year's midterms.

Texas senator John Cornyn expressed hope over the weekend

that Trump would reconcile with them.

Are you sure about that?

Remember, he thinks this is 1.5 million people.

[ Laughter and applause ]

So...

Trump got one deal with Democrats to keep the government

open and avoid financial chaos,

and now, all of a sudden,

there is a rush of praise from the media

crowning him as America's first independent President,

including headlines in The New York Times,

Associated Press, and Washington Post.

Can we stop with this absurd talking point?

Donald Trump is not an independent.

The only thing he's independent of is reality.

Whether it is his views on climate change, immigration,

race, taxes, education, or national security,

he's proven time and again that he is a Republican.

The GOP is now totally and completely the party of Trump.

Hillary Clinton summed it up this way in an interview

with CBS where she described her decision

to attend the inauguration and Trump's bleak inaugural address.

-[ Chuckling ] So there I was on the platform --

you know, feeling...

like an out of body experience.

And then his speech

which was a cry

from the white nationalist gut.

-That's right. It was a cry from the white nationalist gut.

And unfortunately for us, there is a lot of gut.

[ Laughter ]

And this is something, to her credit,

that Hillary Clinton saw coming.

Just over a year ago, she gave a speech on the rise

of white nationalism and the alt-right.

And on Sunday, we saw more of what she was warning us about

when former Trump advisor Steve Bannon slithered out

from under his rock and gave an interview to "60 Minutes",

and he responded to Hillary's alt-right speech

from August of last year with this absurd comment.

-Her very first speech when she came off the beach was nonsense.

And this goes to something I want to address with you.

Hillary Clinton is not very bright.

Everyone says she's so much smarter than Donald Trump.

-Yeah. Everybody is right.

Of course Hillary Clinton is smarter than Donald Trump.

She's a graduate of Yale Law,

a former senator and Secretary of State.

Meanwhile I'm pretty sure Trump thinks Frederick Douglas

was in Boyz II Men.

[ Laughter ]

[ As Trump ] I hear he's been recognized more and more.

I just saw him in that new Geico commercial.

[ Normal voice ] Bannon also used the "60 Minutes" interview

to announce he would be an unabashed supporter

of Trump's agenda outside the White House,

going to war with the GOP establishment on Trump's behalf.

-I'm a street fighter. That's what I am.

-You're more than that.

-Nah, I think I'm a street fighter.

By the way I think that's why Donald Trump and I

get along so well. Donald Trump is a fighter.

Great counterpuncher. Great counterpuncher.

He's a fighter.

I'm going to be his wing man outside

for the entire time.

-And to be fair, Bannon would make a great wing man

in the sense that literally anyone

would look like a catch standing next to him.

[ As Trump ] Hi, there, I'm Donald Trump.

[ Normal voice ] No, thank you. Oh, God!

I'm sorry, Donald was it?

Bannon tried to prove his credentials

as Trump's strongest ally by recounting the weekend

the infamous "Access Hollywood" tape came out

when several Republicans, including those close to Trump,

tried to urge him to drop out,

while Bannon advised him to double down.

-Did you lose confidence of anybody because they

came at you at that point and said,

"Look, he ought to get out of this race,"

other than Reince Priebus?

I mean, did your attitude

toward those people who said that --

-Absolutely. A Billy Bush Saturday to me is a litmus test.

When you side with him, you have to side with him.

And that's what Billy Bush Weekend showed me.

Billy Bush Saturday showed me

who really had Donald Trump's back.

-Well, you took names on Billy Bush Sunday, didn't you?

-I did. Christie because of Billy Bush Weekend

was not looked at for a cabinet position.

-He wasn't there for you on Billy Bush Weekend,

so therefore, he doesn't get a cabinet position?

-I told him the plane leaves at 11:00 in the morning.

If you're on the plane, you're on the team.

Didn't make the plane.

-Why do they keep saying Billy Bush Weekend?!

[ Laughter ]

It's not a holiday.

Gather around, children! Can you hear it?

It's the sound of the "Access Hollywood" bus!

Billy Bush Weekend is here! Tic Tacs for everyone!

"We celebrate Billy Bush Saturday. What about you?"

"Oh, we're a Billy Bush Sunday family."

[ Laughter ]

As much as the Republican establishment may resist,

the GOP is very much the party

of Steve Bannon and Donald Trump.

They have had plenty of chances to dump him, and they haven't.

Not after firing Comey, not after Charlottesville,

and certainly not after... -Billy Bush Weekend.

-This has been "A Closer Look."

[ Cheers and applause ]

Miss Texas Has Harsh Words For Trump... - Duration: 5:49.

RECENTLY, THE MISS AMERICA PAGEANT HAPPENED AND USUALLY THE

CONTESTANTS WILL MAKE NEWS BECAUSE SOME OF THEIR ANSWERS

WERE NECESSARILY TOO BRIGHT.

LET'S KEEP IT REAL.

BUT THIS TIME AROUND, A LOT OF THE QUESTIONS WERE

EXTREMELY POLITICAL AND A LOT OF THE ANSWERS WERE THOUGHTFUL

AND DESERVE SOME CREDIT.

LET'S START OFF WITH MARGANA WOOD.

SHE IS MISS TEXAS AND SHE

WAS ASKED ABOUT DONALD TRUMP'S REACTION TO THE HATE CRIMES

IN CHARLOTTESVILLE.

OF COURSE, HE GOT CRITICISM FOR IT AND CONSIDERING SHE IS

IN TEXAS, I WAS CURIOUS TO SEE WHAT HER REACTION TO THAT

QUESTION WOULD BE, AND HERE'S WHAT SHE HAD TO SAY.

GREAT ANSWER.

THAT IS A GOOD ANSWER.

ABSOLUTELY.

APPARENTLY, SHE IS FACING SOME BACKLASH.

I DON'T KNOW, I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY PUBLIC FIGURE CRITICIZE HER

FOR IT.

I'M SURE PEOPLE ON TWITTER OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAVE

CRITICIZED HER, BUT THAT WAS A GOOD ANSWER.

YEAH, COURSE OF ONLINE CRITICIZE HER BECAUSE THOSE

PEOPLE ARE THE ONES WHO SUPPORT THE ALL RIGHT AND THINK

THAT WHITE SUPREMACY IS AWESOME.

ESPECIALLY BECAUSE SHE IS FROM TEXAS AND SHE IS WHITE,

THEY PROBABLY FEAR EVEN MORE OF A TRADE.

WAY, WHERE AND SHE FOR WHITE PEOPLE ONLY?

WELL, SHE'S NOT, SO SAD DAY FOR YOU.

I'M SORRY YOU GOT TRIGGERED BY THAT.

LET'S GO TO MISS NEW JERSEY, KAITLYN SCHOEFFEL.

SHE WAS ASKED ABOUT THE CONFEDERATE STATUES.

I THINK SHE WAS TRYING TO PLAY BOTH SIDES A LITTLE BIT IN THE

ANSWER, BUT I ULTIMATELY AGREE WITH HER CONCLUSION.

YEAH, YOU TAKE THESE CONFEDERATE STATUES AWAY FROM PUBLIC

LANDS LIKE STATEHOUSES AND COURTHOUSES AND THINGS LIKE

THAT AND YOU PUT THEM IN THEIR PROPER CONTEXT.

IF YOU WANT TO REMEMBER AMERICAN HISTORY, LET'S REMEMBER IN

ITS PROPER CONTEXT.

EITHER PUT IN A CONFEDERATE CEMETERY OR A MUSEUM THAT HAS

SOMETHING TO DO WITH AMERICAN HISTORY WHERE YOU CAN ACTUALLY

DESCRIBE AND EXPLAIN WHO THESE FIGURES WERE AND WHAT THEY DID.

SHE GAVE A NUANCED ANSWER AND I THINK SHE SOMEONE PLAYING

BOTH SIDES BUT THAT'S OKAY.

THEY ARE NOT POLITICIANS.

I DISAGREE WITH THE FIRST PART OF HER ANSWER.

WE DON'T HAVE TO HONOR THOSE AMERICANS BECAUSE THEY WERE

NOT AMERICANS.

THEY WERE CONFEDERATES AND THEY BETRAYED AMERICA AND

COMMITTED TREASON.

I DO HAVE TO HONOR THEM AT ALL BUT I AGREE WITH HER THAT THEY

SHOULD BE IN A MUSEUM BECAUSE THEY ARE PART OF HISTORY.

ABSOLUTELY.

AND THEN FINALLY, I WANT TO GO TO MISS

NORTH DAKOTA, AND CARA MUND.

SHE WAS ASKED ABOUT DONALD TRUMP'S DECISION TO PULL

OUT OF THE PARIS CLIMATE AGREEMENT.

THESE ARE, LIKE, SUPER POLITICAL QUESTIONS.

I'M ACTUALLY

SURPRISED AND KIND OF DELIGHTED.

HERE'S WHAT SHE HAD

TO SAY.

THAT'S ALSO KIND OF A SOPHISTICATED ANSWER.

IT'S NOT TO SAY, AND MAYBE THEY TRAINED FOR THAT, IF THEY

DID, GREAT JOB.

OF COURSE THEY DID.

MEETING, WHERE THEY CAN GET THIS LEVEL POLITICAL

QUESTIONS AND TO BE ABLE TO PLAY OUT BESIDES BECAUSE SHE

DIDN'T SAY THAT CLIMATE CHANGE IS ABSOLUTELY REAL AND WE

SHOULDN'T HAVE PULLED OUT OF PARIS ON THOSE GROUNDS.

SHE IS SAYING WE SHOULD BE THE NEGOTIATING TABLE.

SHE DID SAY IT'S REAL.

SHE SAID THERE IS EVIDENCE THAT CLIMATE CHANGE IS EXISTING.

I HEAR YOU.

BUT STILL, IT'S NOT A SUPER LIBERAL ANSWER.

IT'S KIND OF SAYING, SHOULD WE BE AT THE NEGOTIATING TABLE

ANYWAY.

ANYWAY, BLESS THEIR HEARTS.

INTERESTING, SOPHISTICATED ANSWERS.

ONCE I DON'T ALL AGREE WITH, EVEN IF THEY CALCULATED TO

GET TO BESIDES, I THINK THEY CALCULATED FAIRLY WELL.

ABSOLUTELY.

I'M TOTALLY FINE WITH THEIR ANSWERS AND AGAIN, I LIKE

THE FACT THAT THEY ARE FOCUSING ON QUESTIONS THAT MATTER.

IN THE PAST, THEY HAVE AS WELL.

REMEMBER THE IRAQ WAR QUESTION THAT WAS ASKED?

YEARS AGO.

I THINK THAT WAS MY FIRST YEAR - SECOND YEAR DO IT.

WAS IT MISS TEEN SOUTH CAROLINA?

WHO HAD THE WORST ANSWER EVER.

WE WILL PUT A LINK IN THE DESCRIPTION BOX FOR YOU BECAUSE

THAT WAS HILARIOUS.

LAST THING IS, THEY ARE MISS AMERICA, NOT CONNECTED TO TRUMP,

HE IS DON'T MISS UNIVERSE BUT NONETHELESS, I'M HAPPY THESE

PAGEANTS ARE FINALLY GETTING SOME SMART CONTESTANTS WHO ARE

GIVING GOOD ANSWERS BECAUSE AS SOMEONE FORMALLY INVOLVED

IN THE PROCESS, BEING MR.

JAMAICA.

YOU WERE NEVER INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS.

I WENT TO PUERTO RICO TO THE MISS UNIVERSE CONTEST.

YOU ARE SO UNBEARABLE.

HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO MAKE EVERY STORY ABOUT YOU?

MY GIRLFRIEND WAS MS.

JAMAICA, I'M OBVIOUSLY MR.

JAMAICA, SO I'M PROUD TO SEE

THAT THESE WOMEN ARE DOING GREAT AND ARE REPRESENTING

THEIR STATES WELL IN THIS CASE.

OKAY, GREAT.

AS WE REPRESENTED JAMAICA BACK IN

THE DAY.

UNBEARABLE.

Steve Bannon On Trump Firing Comey (60 Minutes Interview) - Duration: 5:08.

STEVE BANNON WENT ON 60 MINUTES WITH CHARLIE ROSE.

HE TALKED ABOUT A NUMBER OF ISSUES, ONE OF THEM WAS THE

JAMES COMEY FIRING.

THERE WERE A COUPLE OF INTERESTING NOTES FROM

STEVE BANNON.

IT WILL BE HARD TO CONCENTRATE BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT STEVE

BANNON LOOKS LIKE A SITH LORD, EVEN AFTER THEY DID THEIR

BEST EFFORTS TO CLEAN HIM UP.

YOU KNOW HOW THERE IS THAT SAYING, YOU CLEAN UP WELL?

IT DOES NOT APPLY TO STEVE BANNON.

WATCH THIS.

JAMES COMEY WAS FIRED, CORRECT?

AS I REMEMBER YES SIR.

WERE YOU IN FAVOR OF HIM BEING FIRED?

IT HAS BEEN REPORTED IN THE MEDIA THAT I WAS ADAMANTLY

OPPOSED TO IT.

IT IS ALSO TRUE MANY SAY, AND YOU ARE A SMART GUY, THAT IF

JAMES COMEY HAD NOT BEEN FIRED YOU WOULD NOT HAVE THE

MUELLER INVESTIGATION.

TRUE?

I DON'T THINK THERE'S ANY DOUBT THAT IF JAMES COMEY HAD

NOT BEEN FIRED WE WOULD NOT HAVE A SPECIAL COUNSEL, YES.

YOU WOULD NOT HAVE THE MUELLER INVESTIGATION?

YES, IN THE BREATH THAT CLEARLY MR.

MUELLER IS GOING.

I THINK IT IS A VERY DIRECTIONAL ñ

DO YOU THINK MR.

MUELLER SHOULD BE FIRED?

NO.

HAS THERE BEEN DISCUSSIONS IN THE WHITE HOUSE ABOUT FIRING

HIM?

I WOULD NOT TELL YOU ABOUT DISCUSSIONS IN THE WHITE

HOUSE BUT I WILL TELL YOU I NEVER HEARD ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

YOU DESCRIBE THE FIRING OF JAMES COMEY ñ YOU ARE A STUDENT

OF HISTORY- AS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE IN POLITICAL HISTORY.

THAT WOULD BE TOO BOMBASTIC EVEN FOR ME, BUT MAYBE

MODERN POLITICAL HISTORY.

THE FIRING OF JAMES COMEY WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE IN MODERN

POLITICAL HISTORY?

IF YOU'RE SAYING THAT THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH ME THEN I

WILL LEAVE IT AT THAT.

FIRST OF ALL YOU ARE RIGHT THERE, YOU CAN SAY ANYTHING

YOU WANT.

YOU ARE ASSOCIATED WITH YOU.

MORE RANDOM POINTS BEFORE WE GET TO THE SUBSTANCE.

HIS EYES LOOK SO PINK IT IS DISTRACTING.

SORRY, I AM LITERALLY DISTRACTED BY IT.

CHARLIE ROSE IS A GREAT INTERVIEWER BUT HIS HUSHED

TONES DRIVE ME CRAZY.

I THINK THAT STEVE BANNON IS MAKING AN

UNDERSTANDABLE MISTAKE HERE, IN SOME WAYS YOU MIGHT BE

SURPRISED.

IT MAKES ME THINK THAT HE IS INNOCENT.

HEAR ME OUT.

SO HE CALLS IT A MISTAKE TO FIRE JAMES COMEY BECAUSE IT JUST

LED TO A SPECIAL COUNSEL WHICH NOW HAS LED TO A LARGER

INVESTIGATION.

IT IS A MISTAKE IF YOU THINK HE DID NOT DO IT AND NOW YOU HAVE

THIS HUGE POLITICAL HEADACHE THAT YOU DIDN'T NEED TO HAVE.

BUT KUSHNER WHO SOME SAY ADVISED TRUMP TO FIRE HIM, AND TRUMP

HIMSELF WHO DID FIRE HIM ñ

THEY KNOW THINGS OTHER PEOPLE DON'T KNOW.

IF THEY KNOW THAT THERE WAS A DEAL WITH THE RUSSIANS, AND

JAMES COMEY WAS ON TO IT, THEN IT IS NOT REALLY A MISTAKE.

YOU CAN SAY THE SPECIAL COUNSEL WILL FIND THAT OUT ANYWAY, BUT

THAT WAS THERE HALF HANDED APPROACH TO TRY TO COVER UP AN

INVESTIGATION WHICH THEY KNEW WOULD LEAD TO REALLY BAD

RESULTS WHICH SHOULD GET THEM THROWN OUT OF OFFICE.

YOU CAN SAY HE MIGHT KNOW TOO MANY THINGS THAT THE SPECIAL

COUNSEL IS MORE LIKELY TO UNCOVER WHAT ACTUALLY

HAPPENED ETC.

OR HE DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT THE DEAL AND HE THINKS WHAT A DUMB

POLITICAL THING TO DO, FIRE JAMES COMEY AND ATTRACT MORE

ATTENTION AND GET A SPECIAL COUNSEL WHEN YOU DID NOT DO IT.

BUT STEVE, HE DID DO IT.

WHY DO YOU THINK YOU FIRED COMEY AND HAS BEEN IN A PANIC

EVER SINCE.

WHAT, YOU THINK HE CONSIDERED FIRING SESSIONS FOR NOT FIRING

MUELLER AND CONSIDERING FIRING ROD ROSEN.

WHAT HAS HE CONSIDER FIRING A MOST EVERY SINGLE PERSON

INVOLVED IN THE INVESTIGATION?

BECAUSE HE DOESN'T LIKE BAD PUBLICITY?

NO.

BECAUSE HE WANTS TO FIRE ANYONE INVESTIGATING HIM BECAUSE

HE DID IT.

SO EVEN SO STEVE BANNON, THE

CHIEF STRATEGIST FOR THE WHITE

HOUSE UNTIL RECENTLY SAYS FIRING JAMES COMEY,

BIGGEST POLITICAL MISTAKE.

WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS DEPENDING ON WHAT MUELLER FINDS.

Anthony Bourdain Tells Us What He Would Serve Donald Trump & Kim Jong-Un | TMZ TV - Duration: 1:20.

I LOVE YOU, MAN, HONESTLY.

I ACTUALLY LOVE YOU.

ANTHONY BOURDAIN AT L.A.X.

A FEW YEARS AGO HE SAID HE WOULD

BE OPEN TO GO TO NORTH KOREA AND

TRYING THE FOOD THERE.

BUT THINGS HAVE CHANGED.

I ASKED HIM, WOULD YOU GO TO

NORTH KOREA AND SAMPLE THE FOOD

THAT THEY HAVE TO OFFER?

I MEAN, MOST OF THE

POPULATION ARE STARVING.

DON'T YOU THINK THAT WOULD BE

KIND OF IN BAD TASTE?

BUT THE PRESIDENT -- I SAY

BUT THE PRESIDENT OF NORTH KOREA

IS LIKE A BIT OF A FOODIE.

HE'S A CHUBBY EVIL LITTLE

[BLEEP].

THAT'S GREAT.

NOBODY ELSE EATS.

I SAY IF TRUMP AND KIM WERE

GOING TO HAVE SOME SORT OF PEACE

SUMMIT, AND THEY WANTED YOU TO

CATER, WHAT WOULD YOU SERVE?

AND HE HAS AN ANSWER JUST LIKE

THAT.

HEMLOCK.

[LAUGHTER]

HARVEY: WOW.

WOW.

HAVE A GOOD ONE, MAN.

YOU TOO.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.
