Welcome to the Google photos community

To restore your photos and videos I suggest you to follow the below steps:

If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it's there.

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
At the bottom, tap Library Trash .
Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
- In your phone's gallery app
- In your Google Photos library
- In any albums it was in

If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.

Don't see the photo or video?

If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can't restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:

You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.

This is my grand mother's account. I made it for her last year and recently had to recover her iphone after it got stuck with a boot loop after the IOS 13 update (thanks apple).

Recovered everything so far except her google photos account. I have 2 emails I use to create accounts for her, and none of them are getting recognized by google photos.

I have her phone number and that isn't getting recognized either. When I press "forgot email" and put in her phone number, it asks for a full name. Her name isn't in english, so spelling differs. I tried multiple combinations but with no luck.

As a last ditch effort. Is there any possible way to recover an account with JUST a phone number ?

Hi Gangadhar,

Welcome to the Google Photos Help Forum.

Unfortunately, the People ~Albums~ are special and can't be downloaded from directly.

You can, however, easily copy the images for a selected person and copy them to a ~normal~ album and download from the 3 line menu of that album.

To select all of the photos for a person, select the first image (not date), then hold down the shift key and scroll to the bottom (you should notice that the selected images are blue), them while still holding down the shift key click on the last image. Then click on the + and create an album (as normal).

As janvb indicates, I was incorrect. No need to jump through the hoops which I described. If you simply select multiple images in a "People" album, Download will be available from the 3 dot menu.

Over the past few weeks, I have taken some photos that are really important to me but they appear in my Google Photos app as grey boxes. I can click info and see the .jpg file path in the file system (/storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Camera/IMG_YYYYMMDD_xxxxx.jpg) but I feel that the photo I took is not actually there.

In the Google Photos app itself, it says there are items waiting to be synced, and these likely DO correspond to the photos that are only grey boxes. Why is Google Photos hijacking my photos? Disabling sync doesn't "unlock" my photos from the Google Photos app. I have tried to clear the cache and the data on both the Google Photos app as well as the Google Camera app but the grey boxes persist.

I connected my phone to my computer to try to pull the files off that way and I noticed that the file is there when I connect in Transfer Photos mode (not Files mode) but the photos are all 0 bytes. I trusted my phone camera to take and save the photos to capture moments.

I have noticed this only happens when I'm out and about, not on Wifi, and I feel as if the backup and sync feature is hijacking my photos. I haven't tested taking photos with backup and sync disable to see if the issue still happens, but this is incredibly frustration and now I feel like a handful of photos I took this past week are gone.

When this FIRST happened, with some not-so-important photos, I tried to turn my phone off and on to resolve the issue but it simply removed all the photos that were grey boxes.

Can you please help me recover the stuck photos? Is there no hope since the files themselves are 0 bytes? How can I make sure this never happens again?

Is this because you're taking a lot of photos through out the day or are have you never actually finished backing up all the photos from your phone? I recommend you just backing up over WiFi if the app is using up all your mobile data.

Google Photos did originally have a way of telling which photos had not be uploaded online but the feature was removed. I recommend that you send your feedback to the Google Photos team https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6156065

The only workaround I can think of is to compare the photo library on your Android device (the Photos screen of the Google Photos app) with the recently added page https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ of the Google Photos website.

Changed from flikr which I used for years with no issues to back up photos. This app sucks. Who the F needs an app to "sync" and only back up what is currently on your device. Useless design, and just more of Google being absolutely terrible in general. I'd advice not using the app for backing up photos as the designers don't seem to understand the intended purpose of 99.5% of users. Laughable that an old yahoo app worked perfectly for years and scores of poor people are now having their photos destroyed by Googles poor design and ignorance.

If you've gone to Google Photos > Left Menu > Photo Books > Scroll down to past orders, and select the order in question. There should be a link to contact Google.

If this link is not available, find your confirmation email from your order. Another "Contact us" link is available there.

There should be a tracking number. Copy and paste that number into a Google search bar along with the words "tracking number" - it may locate the shipper and delivery date

Also, many credit card statements will show the vendor and a contact number in the charge details.
