Using Google Photos and ~iCloud Photo Library~ simultaneously is, in my understanding, dangerous because they have different approaches to how they maintain data (e.g., when and where something is deleted). Therefore, you want to be very careful and methodical to your deletion.

The safest way to delete from Google Photos is to delete the Google Photos app from your iOS device(s) and anyplace else where you might have sync enabled and then delete the photos at https://photos.google.com/  or in bulk at https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ where they are sorted by upload date.  You can select ranges of up to 500 images (it can be time consuming, but there is probably no rush).  If you are constrained on space in your email account you might consider deleting Movies and Videos first (see the lower righthand corner of this page if that applies https://photos.google.com/u/0/explore ).

 

There is no single step way to delete all Google Photos images other that to delete the account (and in the vast majority of cases that does not make sense, because the account might contain contacts, email, or be use for other Android, Nest, etc. devices.

 

I would also recommend that you do a couple of test deletions of Google first and make sure they don't disappear on your phone (this is probably being extremely overcautious but is easy to do). Additionally,  also because it is easy, you might want to backup your iPhone to a computer or USB drive using your Lightning cable.

 

It is always a good idea to store important images in more than one place / tool.  My photos are in Google Photos, on my laptop, and on multiple external disk drives (not connected to any computer or network).

I have a heap of tiny photos that accidentally got uploaded and I want to delete them but they are sprinkled throughout my collection of thousands so it is not feasible to delete them manually.

If there was a search function that was  "file size less than 1mb" then it would be easy to delete them.

This would obviously be easy to implement, what would be the reasons Google would not want to?

Be aware that many ask for such features, but for other reasons like to filter out the compressed pictures because they want to re-upload them in original quality. So you are not alone when you ask for a filter on filesize, but they only will reply with "thank you". 

PS: of course we don't know about any plans, but we even don't know about missing features which should have been there since 2015.

I remind you that this is not the place to ask for new features: we are all users. You can send feedback directly to the team (via main menu of Google Photos). 

I am afraid that sending feedback will not help neither. We ask since 2015 for sorting by file name in albums, which is much easier to implement, but when "they" are not interested you have little chance.

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your post.

 

First, The edit feature may not be available in some regions. If you happen to be from there, then regretfully, you can't do anything.

 

You can add a person through the following steps.

 

Tap to open the photo which contains unidentified faces & then slide up or tap the three dots. 

If the app has failed to include some faces in that picture, you will see a prompt "XX faces available to add".

 

Tap the edit icon at the extreme right edge. (An icon of a pencil ).

 

That will show identified faces in square boxes & their thumbnails at the bottom.
Tap on the + sign on each thumbnail. 
Then the app will show you all the identified faces till that time.
You can select the right one.

 

If not, tap the + sign at the top right corner of the screen.
That would create a new grouping altogether.

 

Once created, the app may take some time to bring all the related pictures to this new grouping.Otherwise, you can go through the collection & add the photos to the newly created group manually through the steps described above.
