Just to confirm, have you checked the backup & sync settings on your device? If not, please try these steps to make sure all your photos and videos are backed up to Google Photos:
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  2. At the top, tap Menu .
  3. Select Settings  Back up & sync.
  4. Tap "Back up & sync" 
  5. Tap "Back up device folders" and select the folder (Message+ app) to backup photos and videos from your SD card
If you've already selected the folder, you may check your back up status to ensure all the photos and videos are backed up to your account. Here's how:
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  2. At the top:
    • If you see a number: It means there's still that many photos that haven't been backed up.
    • Back up is complete: If you see Upload complete .
    • "Waiting for Wi-Fi": Change your settings or connect to a Wi-Fi or mobile network. Tap the card to change your settings.
    • Back up is off: If you see Back up off . Tap to turn on back up.
    • "A photo or video was skipped": A photo or video is not uploading because it doesn't meet our requirements:
      • Photos can't exceed 75MB or 100 megapixels
      • Videos can't exceed 10GB

Hello, I was looking to transfer my google photos from one account to another. I went to back up the photos for export and there were errors generated, it appears to not transfer all the photos, instead, I'm left with a few photos and a ton of .json files. Is there an alternative to switching the photos to a different account?

It sounds like you are trying to use Google Takeout to accomplish this.  I am quite certain that the majority of experienced users would recommend another approach when going from one Google Account to another Google Account (migrating to a different platform may be a different story because fewer proven options exist).

There are several approaches here:
 
Unfortunately,  High Quality photos from prior to June 1, 2021 in your old account which did not count against your storage quota (not that it probably really mattered in a school account) will count in your new account.   
 
Method C is probably the easiest, but it does not move albums.  You could combine Method C (probably first) and then Method B if albums are important to you.  There is a possibility that Method C won't work (depending on the configuration settings at you specific school).
 
Work slowly, and deliberately.  Don't delete anything until you have done some reasonableness tests, and be careful that videos have completely transferred.  Wait for several days after you are sure that everything has transferred (just call me superstitious). Actually, you don't really need to delete anything in the old account, you can let it just fade away if you want.
 
Other opinions and ideas are welcome!
 
It is always a good idea to store important images in more than one place / tool.  My photos are in Google Photos, on my laptop, and on multiple external disk drives (not connected to any computer or network).
