I had quite a few albums for family occasions and holidays etc. Yesterday (8th March '22) I could view them, but now the layout in "Photos" seems to have changed and I can't find them.

Please tell me how I can access them.

The first thing is to check if the images/videos are available in the web version of Google Photos. To do this, go to https://photos.google.com.

Look under the "Photos" menu, located in the left menu. If the images / videos do not appear, proceed to look for them in the "Trash".

If the resources you are looking for are there, just select them and click the "Restore" button.

Remember that images in the "Trash" are automatically deleted after 60 days. After this date it is not possible to recover them. If you delete the trash it will not be possible to recover the information.

You can review at the following URLs (I recommend you review them from a desktop browser):

An important consideration is that the "Backup and sync" option has been enabled on mobile devices. If this was not the case, the images and videos that you have deleted from your phone will not be able to recover them, at least from Google Photos.

Lastly, if the deletion process is foreign to Google Photos and responds to file management on mobile or desktop, I recommend using a file recovery app. On the Internet you can find different.

For Google Photos, see this about recovering photos & videos. Note that photos/videos permanently deleted from Google Photos Trash are not recoverable. Since on Android, could try a Photo Recovery App just be sure to find one that does not need to use rooting.

Hi, a friend shared me a link to a 3840 x 2160 video that is 1.4 GB.

However, every single time I try to download it I will instead get a ~188.1 MB 1920x1080 video. This happens regardless if I'm on an Android phone or on a PC. I am contributor to album which contains the video. When I try to save a copy of it to my drive, either by favoriting it, clicking "save" on Android, or copying it to another album, it literally changes the video to 1920x1080.

The extremely frustrating thing is that the video is play as 4K in the video preview:

However, I can't download it from a link because the stream splits the video download into segments.

Why does this happen??

I don't know why, but you need to add the video to your own account and then download it to get the full 4k video.

Possible due to a transcoded 1080 only available in the shared album anfd not copied over fully until Saved to your account.
