The non-existence of this feature is 100% making me consider switching to another photos storage app.

Google, can you add this feature back? Even if it's an auto-sync to Drive and then a second auto-sync from Drive to my PC, that'd be very much appreciated.

I have downloaded Google backup and sync to my mac. it tool 4 days for the sync to finish and now I am ready to go. 

I started deleteing photos from my Photos app on my mac (including emptying the deleted items folder) but I do not see any change in google photos. 

What can be the problem?

Photos from my Mac goes to "my computer/pictures" in google drive!!

Google removed the connections between Google Drive and Google Photos as explained @Recent changes to Google Photos & Google Drive

 

Google have not advised us of any replacement tools for any of the removed functionality, which means that alternative methods need to be explored.

Upload photos from Google Drive @https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6156103

When you see an "Edit" icon (pencil) to the right of People in the info of a photo, you can add detected faces to a group or change wrongly grouped faces to the correct group. But unfortunately the edit option is not available in all regions, for example in Europe. We asked Google why, but did not get a satisfactory answer.

 

When editing is not available you can select the wrong photos, tap 3-dots > Remove results, hoping that Google will learn from it. But when both do appear you should not remove. Not very satisfying. 

 

You can also create a normal album for one of them, add the photos you want and then remove the wrong ones from the wrong group.
