1). If you are using a regular personal account you will have to contact a Google Drive Specialist who *MAY* be able to restore it.  https://support.google.com/drive/thread/5032072?hl=en#contact=1
 
2). If you use a work/student account (G Suite), you should contact your Account Admin as they can restore files up to 25 days after deletion.

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your post.
 
The steps to take a screenshot vary between phone models & android versions.
 
However, if you have activated OK Google or Hey Google detection on your phone, the easiest way would be to say, "Hey Google take a screenshot". Then the Google assistant will do the work for you. However, once the screenshot is ready, upload that through Google Photos.
 
Nevertheless, the following are the standard methods to take a screenshot.
  • Long press the power button & tap on the menu option "Screenshot".
  • Press the volume down & power button simultaneously.
  • Press the volume down & home button simultaneously.
  • Press the power button & home button simultaneously.
  • Pull down the notification panel & look for the screenshot option.
You may try all these or refer to the documentation provided by your phone's manufacturer.
 
To share your photo via email, please follow these steps.
  • Tap to open the photo.
  • Tap the share symbol at the bottom  
  • Under “Share to apps,” select another app to share. Swipe left to find more apps. 
  • Scroll through the apps list & tap on the required email app (Gmail, yahoo etc.)
  • That will create a draft email with the picture as an attachment.
  • Add the email ID of the recipient. Add subject & content to the email & then tap send.

Probably you don't even have old pictures at G+: they all were "moved" to Google Photos already before the closure of Google+ Photos in Februar 2017. 
But look to "Pictures from posts" on https://get.google.com/albumarchive being logged-in with your account. All what you see there, will get lost. But not on Google Photos.

Michael, you can check the specific G+ Data at
 
 
You should see the Google+ content selected. This only refers to items posted to Google+ if photos were uploaded in the days of Google+ Photos these will be in regular Google Photos albums or the main library.
If you do not see Google+ items and it defaults to see everything else selected it means you do not have any Google+ content.
 
When downloaded you can find a 'Photos from post' album with all Google+ photos in it.
 
To download only the photos album
  1. Go to Takeout Google+ Stream
  2. Click on Select specific data
  3. Click on Google+ Stream Data
  4. Select photos only
  5. Click Next
  6. Click Create archive
  7. When the data is ready Download to a computer
  8. Extract to a folder and search the folder for *.jpg
  9. Copy the results to a new folder
In the Album archive you will see a G+ Photos from posts, if you do not see this you do not have any photos in Google+ <See screenshot online> It is not easy to download from here as the photos are in individual dated album which would need to be downloaded one at a time.

Google Photos was called Google+ Photos a couple of years ago and any photos uploaded will be still available in the current Google Photos.  The change is only superficial with the photos stored in the cloud being exactly the same. 

The Google+ service being deprecated is the social sharing app where you select individual photos and post them for your friends to look at, and it is completely separate from Google Photos, just that any photos posted are stored in a partitioned area in the Google Photos cloud.

Sorry Michael, if you can't find them at the usual places there isn't any help we can offer.  I will paste a standard reply for finding missing photos below, but if that comes up blank I'm afraid they are gone and we don't have the capability to find out why.

Please review the following information taken from previously recommended answers in case there are any options you haven't yet tried. 

1. Check your online account - photos.google.com
If your photos were successfully uploaded to your online Google Photos account they may be available there. Try visiting photos.google.com and searching for them. If you have more than one Google account, check all of them. 
 
2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash
Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.
 
If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos. 
 
3. Review other options
  • if you previously used Picasa, visit picasaweb.google.com and search for your photos. 
  • check get.google.com/albumarchive to see if there are any hidden albums containing posts to other Google apps
  • have you made any backups of the photos on your phone, camera, computer, or elsewhere?
  • there is a small chance that you can restore the photos using a recover deleted photos app (Android). I haven't used them myself so have no specific recommendations. There may well be more app options if you visit the appropriate app store and try other search terms. I don't see any similar apps on the iOS store, but you could check yourself.
  • If the files were deleted in Google Drive you can contact the Google Drive support team to see if the deleted files may be recovered. Use the Google Drive Contact List, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.
  • If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.
 
Good luck, unfortunately if you have looked at all the options and still can't find your photos then there are no other possibilities we can suggest, other than if you have a Google One account you can contact 1:1 Support
