I do understand the inconvenience as you're unable to open the photo book from your Google Photos app. Therefore, I recommend trying the steps below in sequence, this may help in fixing the issue:

Make sure your device is up-to-date.
Make sure the App is up-to-date.
Try restarting the App through the following steps:

Go to your App Settings.
Click stop on the afflicted App with the Force Stop button.
Wait a few seconds to make sure the App has stopped processing, and then attempt to re-start it.

Close the background running apps through the following steps:

Go to your App Settings.
Display the Active Apps on your device.
Select the App you wish to close and Force Stop it.
Repeat this step with all active Apps.

Try clearing your App cache through the following steps:

Tap the system Settings tab on the main screen of your device.
Tap the General section of settings that is on the far right.
Tap Storage in the General tab.
Clear the cache data once storage calculates the data.
Back out of the storage section.
Tap Applications and find the application in question.
Tap the application and clear the cache (if available).
Clear the data for the application if there is no cache to clear.
Exit the settings screen and restart the device.

If that doesn't help, I recommend reporting a problem with your photo book through the below steps:

On your computer, open photos.google.com.
Sign in to your Google Account.
On the left, click Photo books.
Under Past orders, select the photo book you want to report.
On the details page, click Contact us.

I recall a similar message popping up on my computer screen YEARS AGO when transferring files from an old lap top to my new one. It was VERY CONVENIENT (although risky lol) to get the two tasks done at once (transfer and delete to free up space).

CURRENTLY on my Samsung 5 Galaxy, I am selecting Photos from phone storage to be transferred (as an album) to the Google Photo Cloud. When that's complete it brings me right back to my phone storage but the items are no longer "selected". I have to GO BACK and re select those same pics THEN delete them from phone storage (hopefully remember which ones lol)

Does it make sense what I am wanting to do? Lol Would love to do one action for two tasks!

Locked folders are local to the device and are not transferrable to a new phone without taking them out of the locked folder and backing them up before migrating.

There are no backups, all web copies are deleted when a photo is placed into the folder.

The contents will be lost after a factory reset or deleting the app data or installing an Android beta

Really, you never want to "Delete" (use the Trash can).. You only want to use the "Free up space" option.

Unfortunately, Google made a change to the ~suggested actions~ which sometimes shows up in the in Google Photos iOS App which says Delete when it is really proposing "Free up space". I can't replicate this at the moment, but the most important thing is not conflate the two similar but different things - If you want to remove ~backed up~ items from your device us :Free up space" from the Utilities menu. If you to permanently delete an item use the trash can.

You should continue to see things which are in Google Photos in the "Photos" section of the Google Photos app or at: https://photos.google.com/u/0/

If you don't see your photos here, investigate quickly - check the Google Photos Trash (in the app or at https://photos.google.com/u/0/trash ) and/or the iOS (native) "Photos" app's Recently Deleted Album.

Finally, and actually I probably should have said this first... Google Photos and ~iCloud Photo Library~ use different approaches to data management and should not be used to backup images simultaneously - doing so can possibly result in lost images..

It is always a good idea to store important images in more than one place / tool. My photos are in Google Photos, on my laptop, and on multiple external disk drives (not connected to any computer or network).

I'm not positive I understand your question but I think you are asking how to turn off the suggestions for sharing your photos with others:

Tap the account button (your photo or a letter) in the upper right
Tap "Google Photos Settings"
Tap "Notifications"
Turn off "suggested sharing"

Additionally, if you have activated Raw + JPEG capture or bracketing in your phone app, that would create duplicates.

With 7000 items, particularly if there are many videos (or a few big ones), depending up your Wi-Fi upload speed, it could easily take hours.

I would usually say that is unlikely with an iPhone 8 or later, but you say you "have barely any space on my phone left".. If your iPhone Storage is very low, there could be problems but I would have expected them early in the process.. You might want to delete "Recent apps" if you have not done so.

The "Search bar

In the web app the search bar is shown at the top of the screen (not in albums). Clicking in the search bar also gives access to Favourites and People albums.
In the Photos app on mobiles you have to tap on Search at the bottom of the page. You get more categories like Recently added, Creations etc. In the web app these are moved to "Explore".

Google Photos indexes a lot of different things in your pictures (see below). It is however NOT possible to search for Tags like for example added in Picasa, or to search with the OR operator.

When you type the first characters of any word in the search bar, Google may suggest search terms, Albums, People or Places. When needed type a second or more words to get more specific results.

Newly added items may not be found immediately: Google needs some time to index.

To stop continuous looping of the video, please follow these steps.

Tap to open the video.
Tap once again to display the controls.
Tap the three dots at the top right comer.
Below the video, you will find an option with the text "Loop video on". Tap that once, and the menu option will change to "Loop video off".

After that, when you open the video the next time, it will run through only one cycle & stop.
