The confusing is the fact that in app and web it yes shows that this is live/motion photo, backup really backing full file, but won't play it. For what to show this feature if it is not works?  I also trying to understand if it works for somebody.

Samsung motion photos work fine in the Google Photos app for me. And to be clear -- yes, it shows the video part of the motion photo in the app.

Make sure you have the 'Remove video from motion photos" setting in Google Photos set to OFF. This needs to be set to OFF on the device you upload the Samsung motion photos from.

Also, I noticed that it might not work right after a new photo is uploaded. Sometimes it takes 10 to 15 seconds before it starts working on a newly uploaded photo. If you upload a large amount of motion photos at once, I suspect it may take longer still.

But, eventually, it should work fine.

I recently read about a new feature on Google Photos that allows you to search for images based on the text that appears in them. This is great for me since I often screenshot recipes or instructions and look them up later. However, today I got a push notification that made me curious about what the text is used for beyond my own needs.

Yesterday, I took a photo of a page in a business book I was reading. There was a section with a question to fill out, so I took a photo to edit in markup. There was an example on that page that mentioned something about "the mola mola fish" (the fish was not core to the book and not mentioned in other parts). I didn't Google mola mola fish. I didn't even think about it after I took the photo. I even deleted the photo right after because my handwriting in markup was so bad.

Now, today. I got a push notification from YouTube with a recommended video. The video's title is "mola mola" - a short song that an artist (someone I've never heard of) with a few hundred thousand followers posted yesterday.

"mola mola" seems a little specific and quite recent to be a coincidence. I checked the Photos app for a way to opt out of using image text for recommendations but didn't see anything. What's up with that?

I am not aware of this facility, unless you are talking about Google Lens. If used you are in fact searching on the worldwide web for information related to that specific image. And thereby Google will remember your search history. But that only is personal: if you search incognito, your history is blank.

The Article About This Issue ... Might Help You.If you want to get a deleted item back, check your trash to see if you can get it back. Photos or videos that you previously backed up and then deleted are kept in your Trash for 60 days.

 

Can't see the photo or video? If a deleted photo or video is not in the trash, you cannot restore it. You cannot restore the photo in the following cases:

 

If you moved the photo to the trash more than 60 days ago. If you moved the photo to the trash and emptied your trash. If you permanently deleted the photo from the trash. If you have permanently deleted the photo from your device's Gallery app without backing it up.

Hi Google,

Need some guidance here. I am not sure if this is to do with the app or my phone or OS.

Recently I have done a factory reset on my Redmi 3s Prime. The Reset went all fine and post restarting all other apps have been functioning as they must. Only the Google Photos app has been buggy.

It tries to get photos that have been already there on the Google Photos Server but never really completes that process; it keeps saying "Getting Photos...". And Crashes after approx. 2 - 5 minutes everytime. And gives the error "Unfortunately, Photos has stopped.

I have uninstalled the updates and reinstalled them from Google Play (cannot uninstall completely as this is a preloaded app on Redmi 3S Prime. 
I have used a proper broadband connection & also a Mobile 4G connection to be sure its not a connection issue.
I have also tried once to use the old version that comes preinstalled on the phone, without updating it.
I have also tried to clear cache and data of "Google Play Services" app (which I read as a possible solution online).
Also attempted to clear Cache of all apps and Restarted the phone too.
The Phone has approx. 13 GB internal memory available and approx.

Kindly help with a solution.

Nevertheless, sorry to note you aren't happy with Google Photos.

 

To entirely delete the photos stored on the cloud, please follow these steps on your Android phone.

• First, turn off backup & sync.
• Next, uninstall or disable the Google Photos app on your phone.
• Next, open the link https://photos.google.com through any browser on your phone. Log into your Google account if the browser asks you to do so.
• After that, go on deleting the pics one by one. You can speed up this step if you do so through a desktop PC. There, you can select multiple pics through the Shift + Mouse key.
• Once you have deleted all the pics, empty the trash bin also.

However, if the collection is sizable, you may not see the intermediate stop of storing the pics in the Trash.

Once done, please block the webpage https://photos.google.com within all browsers available on your phone & desktop PC so that you do not visit that site again accidentally.
