I have been trying to buy storage for my Google Ond/Photos app for nearly two years. I tried several ways of making the payment, including prepaid Google Play gift cards. I even had to verify my identity with my passport so they would accept my debit/credit card.

NOTHING has worked, I always get an error message telling me to try again later. Several attempts and a couple of years "later\

That's crazy that you can't pay for storage. Have you tried a different browser? If you are already a Google One subscriber, you can get support directly from Google here. We are just volunteers here in this forum.
If you do decide to transfer all your photos to a different account, there is a relatively simple way to do that using the Partner Sharing feature:
To transfer all Google Photos content from account A to account B:
  1. Sign in to account A, Settings, Partner Sharing, share with Account B select All your photos
  2. Sign in to account B, accept the invitation to share Account A's photos, under "Save to your photos" select All photos
This works very well to copy all photos and videos from one account to another, but it does NOT get album structures.

@Funk 2 brothers, could you please confirm if you're trying to backup your photos from your device to Google Photos? 

If yes, here are the steps that would help you to do so:
  • Open the Google Photos app .
  • Sign in to your Google Account.
  • At the top, tap Menu.
  • Select Settings.
  • Click on Back up & sync.
  • Tap Back up & sync on or off.
@Koppolu, could you please confirm what exactly are you referring to when you say photo's camera?

It would be better if you can share a screenshot with me so that I can look into the matter and help you accordingly. Please redact any personal information while sharing the screenshot.

Your pictures may not have been copied ("backupped") to Google at all. 
First check your backupsettings in the Photos-app on your phone via settings under the profilecircle: that account should be used for logging-in. 
 
And your pc-browser maybe hindering access to Google, but you did not specify which one. 
Please use Edge in Windows 10 or 11 - not the very old Internet Explorer. 
And don't use Firefox - better install Chrome instead. 
But if you have Edge that is not needed at all.  
Open the Inprivate or incognito window under the 3 dots in the upper right corner. 
And then log-in with the right account into photos.google.com
That should work unless nothing was backupped.

PS: logging-in incognito prevent interference with cookies from other accounts etc.

PS: Edge is as good as Chrome, but if you reserve Edge for general visits to the world wide web, you can use Chrome for all Google applications and then you can stay logged-in and synced with your phone.

I assume that you want to retain the images on your iPhone.. please see this post.
 
Work carefully, and make sure that you understand what you are doing.  If you have photos that you would be heartbroken if you lost, be positive that you have a copy someplace besides your phone.
 
It is always a good idea to store important images in more than one place / tool.  My photos are in Google Photos, on my laptop, and on multiple external disk drives (not connected to any computer or network).
