I this strange issue with my moms phone (Android) she somehow linked the gmail account with google photo. Whenever she is taking a picture withe phone the picture is automatically uploaded into google photo. Problem is that she cannot use her email anymore (cannot send or receive emails) and i think that's caused by the space she used with the pictures.

If i try to delete a picture from google photo the picture is also deleted from phone.

My question is how can I disable google photo and how can I make sure i will not lose any pictires from phone.

Pixel 3

You get unlimited storage in original quality at no charge for all photos and videos backed up to Google Photos from Pixel 3 until 31 Jan 2022. Photos and videos backed up on or before that date will remain in original quality at no charge. After 31 January 2022, new photos and videos will be backed up in Storage saver quality (previously named high quality) at no charge. Photos and videos backed up in original quality will count towards your Google Account storage.

 

There is no way to find out how much storage space is being used other than using Google Takeout, but there is no need to know as the space will never be counted towards your 15GB allocation.

The easiest and cleanest way to know what they are seeing is probably to log into the account that they use with an Incognito Window in Chrome (or similar in other browsers).  It might be most straight forward to do this on a computer if you have one available (but this is not critical).

 

I am guessing they don't have access to your personal photos (unless you are saving them in an illogical way).

I own a Pixel 2 with unlimited upload in storage saver quality. When the unlimited upload in original quality which came with the Pixel 2 expired, I turned it off. 

When my account storage recently reached more than 90 % (because of photo and video uploads from another phone), I checked my Google Photos quota, and found quite a lot of images and videos uploaded from the Pixel 2 which, as the website tells me, *count against my quota*. 

I did not upload these in original quality. Many of them even seem to be in 1080p quality, also according to the files size. 

Disclaimer: I have *a lot* of original quality photos and videos in my account which I do not want to convert to storage saver quality. (Obviously, I uploaded these when my Pixel 2 was still offering unlimited original quality uploads.)

 

Does anyone know how to fix this? And has anyone an explanation why this happened? 

Additionally interesting: I sometimes exported to GIFs on the Pixel 2, and those are included in the Pixel 2 backup and *also* count against my accounts quota. It seems possible that this is for all GIFs I ever uploaded via the Pixel 2. I can easily live without those and can delete them, but the several gigabyte of videos apparently in 1080p counting against my account balance? Not so much. 

Help and ideas would be appreciated.

Samad, deleted Photos are stored in Trash for up to 60 days, if you delete Photos again from trash, that's two times deletion.
 
Unfortunately, once Photos are deleted from trash there is no way to retrieve them back :(
