To my deepest regret, I just found out that the locked folder from Google photos is not transferred, and is now lost with a huge amount of photos of documents I had (I am still baffled by how this could ever have become a feature android offers to consumers).

My question, I still have a Google one back up in Google drive from before I changed the OS. Is there any chance that restoring it includes the Google photos app with the locked folder in it?

Last week I went through my photos on Google Photos, specially the pictures that had between 4 and 10 years. When I returned to the top I accidentally hit the Free up space from the device button, but nothing much seemed to have happened. Went back today and at least about 10 of those photos that I opened last week are not there. I checked the account, the trash, the archive, checked Google Photos online, the app, the phone, every cloud account, even went to Samsung account, Google Picassa online... Went to the recycle bin app. They simple disappeared. I had 5 photos from and July and early August 2011 and only 3 of them are there. The 2 photos from those days I opened last week are not there anymore and they don't seem to be anywhere. What may have happened? I am sure that about 10 photos I opened recently are not there, but I am not sure if more photos are missing. Please help!

I do understand the inconvenience you're facing for not being able to find your photos. Therefore, could you please confirm if you can find out the photos through the web version of Google Photos? 

If not, I recommend checking the below options to find them:

• Blogger
  
• YouTube
  
• Gmail
  
• Google+

If you don't find them, I recommend looking for the photos using the below links:

• drive.google.com (under Google Photos)
  
• get.google.com/albumarchive
  
• other online photo or file storage services you use (e.g. Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud).

No worries Kim!

Open up your Google Photos app, and click on the "Sharing" tab. If there is nothing exist it means you're not sharing any of your Photos with anyone.

If there are some albums appearing, then you're sharing some of your albums with somebody or everybody. Don't worry! You're in control of your Photos. You can disable sharing your Albums in the Album Options, just turn off the "share toggle button".

In addition to my last reply, you can check Google Dashboard and look at into your Google Photos status.

In there, you may see you're actually sharing some photos and albums, this is due to your Google+ or Google Account Data, probably.

Your public profile pictures and others will make count on this.

Go to Google Album Archive to see what are the public photos you have!

That is correct, as soon as you disable sharing the link becomes obsolete. But then you stop sharing with everyone. As soon as you share with someone, he/she can share further, add to his/her library, or download. By sharing you basically lose control. You must trust the ones you share with !
