Does anyone know why some of my photos may be uploading twice with exactly the same file name? It obviously means I am using up my data allowance twice as fast!

Answer:

I did not reply yet because I am not familiar with iOS, but since no one did, a few thoughts:
  • There must be some difference in the photo file (the file name does not matter), otherwise the photo should not be shown twice
  • You may see in the info of a photo in the Google Photos app where it is located. That may give some ideas where it comes from.
  • In the web app https://photos.google.com/ you can see in the info where the photo comes from, for example "uploaded from an iOS device" or "uploaded from a web browser" etc
Also: be careful when deleting duplicates: deleting in the photos app may also delete in other places (synced devices, iCloud ... )

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your post.
 
To allow the app to backup over mobile data, follow these steps.
  • Tap your profile icon
  • Tap photos settings
  • Tap Backup & sync
  • Scroll down & tap mobile data usage
  • Set daily limit as "Unlimited". Choosing this removes a lot of trouble.
  • Tap the slider in front of "Back up whole roaming". That ensures uninterrupted backup even while roaming.
  • Next, through the settings on your phone, allow the Google Photos app to use internet data in the background.
Once you ensure all these settings, the app will start backing up, uninterrupted.

I have been tagging a recent uploads with people (some already in other albums, some new). I have completed the task on over 200 recent images twice now, coming back to review later only to find face relationships changed, unregistered and sometimes the new people created missing completely.
I can't see a pattern. It's different photos each time.
The second time I completed it I constantly went back a few photos occasionally to check the trading had held. It seems to only be after a while it all changes.

While my google photos page (and trash) is empty, when I go to google drive and search the title of any photo, the photo is still showing up, and I can fully see it.

What I can't see is where is located.

The photos size is 0 bytes, so I know this is a problem from google photos, that didn't actually deleted my photos.
Another thing that I find fishy.. When I open google photos at https://photos.google.com/ it takes a looooooooooong time to tell that there isn't any photos, and i still can see the chronology from my olders photos.

It looks like most likely these images were initially uploaded via Google Photos, then at some point they were moved to another folder in Google Drive. When this is done, it unlinks the image in Drive from the one in Photos, so if it's removed from Photos it's not removed from Drive. However it still doesn't count against your Drive storage quota.
You will need to delete these directly from within Drive.

The only way I can find them (as far as i know) is randomly search for pictures, for them to showing up in my results. As I said, they are more than 10000 pictures, it could take me days to actually delete the photos from results, and worse, I have to delete one by one, to avoid delete a photo that I want to keep (already in a folder).

What a strange question: the pictures you see at https://photos.google.com (website) are the same as seen in the Google Photos app on you phone - assuming you are logged-in to the same Google-account (in the app under the 3 small lines). 
But the app also may show pictures in devicefolders that are not backupped by purpose - like technical screenshots. So on the website you are really sure what is at Google only.

Photos under the locked folder are stored offline and on device. And only visible from the same device from which you have setup the locked folder. 
 
If you cleared the data or uninstall the Google photos then photos inside locked folder are automatically deleted and once deleted they are permanently deleted it cannot be recovered.

I transferred my important files to Locked Folder to secure it. I recently decided to move it out of Locked Folder and supposed to transfer to another device but the dates was all changed. Is there anything I can do to fix the dates? They've become useless since the dates are not right.

This happened to me sadly after trying to move out photos from locked folder. I tried searching it up and the only answer I got was changing the dates of the photos. If you remember what day you took those photos then you should put the correct date and for the time choose the best one that makes sense. In my situation, 32 were changed out of the 98 photos in that day. Luckily, I looked at the old ones dates and put the changed ones in order. It may take a while but patience would be the solution. I do hope Google Photos takes action and gives an option to put those changed photos into the original dates. I hope this helped though!

Be aware that pictures downloaded from social media have no fixed date - their dates depend on the latest action. That's no Google-bug, but due to bad design of these media-apps.
