Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your post.

 

Regretfully, on the phone, the Photos app doesn't show anything upfront to reveal whether that's backed up or not.

 

However, the following due diligence will ensure everything from your phone is there on the cloud.

• Go to the library view & tap view all on the "Photos on device" tab. In that view, no folder should have a cloud symbol with a slash on that. If you find so, please tap the folder & switch on Backup & sync.
• Check the status of Backup & sync in settings. That should say "Backup complete".

Moreover, some social media apps hide the download folders from visibility through Google Photos.

Nevertheless, you can manage that unhiding through the settings in the respective app.

 

Once you ensure everything as above, you can be sure about the backup status of the photos & videos on your phone.

Is your Photos-app set to the adress of your husband perhaps? 

Open its main menu under the 3 small lines and then you see the address which is logged-in. 

Under the small arrow you will find your own adress.

Your problem is not clear to me:

• "I can delete the photos from my album"
  When the photos are in an album shared with you, you cannot remove photos added by others.
  when you can delete photos you are either the owner of the album or you added photos to an album shared with you.
• " I can't delete the photos from my photo view."
  I do not know of a reason why you would not be able to delete your own photos from your account. Can you give more information, maybe with screenshot (added via the paperclip).
