That's no logical story because using the Playstore is just meant to install a new app or to update a current app. So it looks if you got logged-in on her Google Photos app automatically and it is not easy for me to check this. But when you open the Photos-app and then hit the small circle right-up and then choose Manage accounts, you can remove yours there. Then the problem will be solved because nothing from you is stored in the app - just shown for a while.

Assuming that you have passed your free limit of 15 GB since long (see one.google.com/storage), your Google-account will get frozen: no more photos get backupped, no gmail anymore (if used) and no actions on drive anymore (if you had any).

Needless to say, hope this can be solved as I can imagine how frustrated you must be. An initial question for you is whether you ever recall seeing your images anywhere but on the phone (or similar device) that you used to take the pictures. More specifically, did you ever see your images at Google Photos (photos.google.com) on a browser of your laptop or tablet or other device? If not, though this is no comfort, I know, it is possible that the images were never actually backed up but perhaps merely queued to back up (a distinction that is sadly confusing on many phones and tablets). If the answer is that you have viewed the photos at the Google Photos site, there is an excellent chance that they are there and that you will be able to recover them.
In any case, in searching Google for missing images you should check the following sites (being sure to sign in with the same Google Account you used on the phone or device with which you took the pictures):
- drive.google.com (in the Google Photos Folder, if one exists)
- https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ (Recently Added)
- https://photos.google.com/albums (People, Places, Things, etc.)
If you still can't find the images, I'm afraid that there is nothing that can be done.

It is very problematic for us (users also - no Google) to answer questions about the past.
In those years many were using Picasa & Picasaweb, but with another account then they have nowadays on their smartphone. And more-over: Picasaweb was closed in 2016 and its contents was moved to that mysterious archive. But then you have to log-in to https://get.google.com/albumarchive with that old account mostly forgotten and probably connected to a mailadress not in use anymore.
Only for people who always have used the same gmail-account, their "Picasa-albums" automatically were "transferred" to new Google Photos also.
Or these pictures never have been on Picasaweb at all, but just in Picasa on your old computer only. And its disc will have died in mean time, but if still under your ceiling an expert maybe able to recover some data.
PS: that archive will show your actual albums if you log-in with your actual account. But then that archive is too primitive for normal use - it just is a technical background for other Google services like Blogger.

Also, you are right to be concerned about notice to users regarding where to find images that don't appear in Google Photos (or don't appear where expected). And I'm not surprised that Google Drive Support didn't have an answer for you (because Google Photos is a separate App). That's why this forum is here, staffed entirely by volunteers by the way, none of whom works at or for Google. I would be ok with it though if there was some way to silence all notifications except text messages. I note there is no easy way to do this without setting the default notification sound to NONE and then individually setting each contact in my list to custom sound.
