Well other then losing, breaking or upgrading, you guys have taken my Facebook account and profile away more than once and then told me what my email was going to be took my passwords away not allowing me to sign in to any of my accounts changed my name to Clarence something or other pure torture I have not been the same ever since almost losing my will to live that is the impact it has done to me 

   Thanks alot for the inconvenience and what has now caused my health to decline rapidly

Sorry to hear that, but this forum is not about Facebook, but about Google Photos. And it always has been your own responsibilty to care for valuable photos and movies. 

Google Photos could have helped to do that by using the same Gmail-account on all phones and by asking for help in your neighboorhood or here. Hard to say more without knowing any technical details, sorry.

 

PS: if these phones still are in some drawer and still contain all photos, you need a nerd to get them copied to some computer and organised. But when many photos were shared via the cloud and not downloaded to these devices, that project will get complicated even more.

Hi Kathy,

That sounds strange. I just checked multiple ways on my up-to-date iPhone 8 and it is behaving as normal (I can see locations in Info from photos in Albums, in Photos library, etc.).

Check some images from your "Places" Album in "Albums".  You can be certain that those have GPS data.

The only things I can think of that might have caused your issue is that Location was off when whatever device took the images, or they were downloaded or shared by somebody with restrictive location settings.

You might  also, confirm that "Location Services" in "Privacy" of iOS "Settings" is On globally and specifically "While Using the App" or "Always" (possibly preferably).

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your post.

 

The face recognition feature keeps on working in the background & adds faces over time.

Nevertheless, if the app has identified a face, you can add that to a group through the steps below.

First, The edit feature may not be available in some regions. If you happen to be from there, then regretfully, you can't do anything.

 

You can add a person through the following steps.

 

Tap to open the photo which contains unidentified faces & then slide up or tap the three dots. 

If the app has failed to include some faces in that picture, you will see a prompt "XX faces available to add".

 

Tap the edit icon at the extreme right edge. (An icon of a pencil ).

 

That will show identified faces in square boxes & their thumbnails at the bottom.
Tap on the + sign on each thumbnail. 
Then the app will show you all the identified faces till that time.
You can select the right one.

 

If not, tap the + sign at the top right corner of the screen.
That would create a new grouping altogether.

 

Once created, the app may take some time to bring all the related pictures to this new grouping.Otherwise, you can go through the collection & add the photos to the newly created group manually through the steps described above.

 

However, if the app has failed to identify a face, regretfully, you can't do anything.

Hi Carly,

Welcome to the Google Photos Product Help Forum!

Slow down and be careful!

First, check your "iOS Photos" app in ALBUMS > "Recently Deleted".  "Select" and "Recover" all of the images, If all of the Google Photos images were from your phone and you just deleted them recently this will PROBABLY fix your issue (if not, things get a lot more complicated).

If your photos were not not available in the "Recently Deleted" in the iOS app, you can go to the 3 line menu in the "Google Photos" app > Trash, then select and Restore the images from there.  This will only get them into your Google Photos app. Then, you will need to figure out where you want to save your images in addition to you phone (it is very dangerous to store images in only one place, especially a phone which can become lost or damaged).  

Note: Don't use iCloud Photo Library and Google Photos simultaneously unless you have a very deep understanding of how each work.

As you're experiencing issues while using the Google Photos app on your device and are unable to view Google Lens on photos, let's try few steps to see if they help:

1. Close the Google Photos app and re-launch it.
   
2. Sign out and sign back in to Google Photos with the same Google Account.
   
3. Clear App cache and data:
   
• Open your device's Settings app (not the Google Settings app).
• Touch Apps.
• Select Google Photos in the list.
• Touch Clear cache and data.
4. Uninstall updates of Google Photos app on your Android phone:
   
• Visit the Google Play Store.
• Open Google Photos.
• Touch on uninstall updates.
5. Restart your device.

Note: Google Lens will work on any device with the latest version of Google Photos. Currently, Google Lens can only be used if your device language is set to English.
