I've used Google Photos to organize my photos, and have multiple shared albums. I recently lost an entire shared album from my Google Photos account! People I have it shared with can still see photos in the album, but none of the photos I uploaded are there any more. I also cannot create a new album and share it...the link does not work when the recipient tries to open it. This is extremely frustrating!

Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.
If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos app anymore.

I'll be happy to help you. Could you please click this link and check which Google product is consuming more storage quota and share your results?
If you're Google Storage (cloud) is full, then it might be possible that you've uploaded/backed up your photos on "Original" setting as this will actually consume storage space or quota on Drive Storage when compared to the photos uploaded/backed up in "High Quality" which has no limit on storage.
Also, please note that drive storage segregated to other Google products such as Google Drive, Gmail and Google Photos. May be the storage space shows full, as this might be occupied by other two Google products.
Free unlimited storage for Pixel and Pixel 2 users
- If you have a Pixel, you get unlimited free storage at Original quality for photos and videos uploaded from your phone. You won't be able to use "High quality."
- If you have the Pixel 2, you get free unlimited Original quality storage for photos and videos uploaded from Pixel before Jan 16, 2021. Thanks for your response! I think I got to the bottom of it. I'm using Android, and after I download the PDF, I have a notication the download completed. I click it and am asked which app to open with. I was using "ezPDF Reader Pro" by Unidocs. I am now convinced that app can't handle the <. And I also think that My Files (samsung) also can't handle it.
However, I tried a few more apps to open it with from the notification, and when I used Drive, the PDF opener, and let me save it when drive (using any name I want). I did find that I could use a < in the name, but opted not to in order to avoid pain & confusion in the future when downloading from different platforms (win), or trying to view it in my fav pdf reader (again - and would have forgotten the issues I had this time around).
Now that I viewed and saved my PDF, I was very relieved to find that all my changes stuck when I clicked Next and checked out, even though they didn't stick (or at least not all of them.... stupid eventual consistency!) when I left the book to save it as a draft.
As long as the book prints well and ships on time, Mother's day will be saved :)

Then you should not have applied that option - at least not before some reading.
And you can't because the Android-version of the Google Photos does not allow to download in bulk while that is no problem in its iPhone-version. But you can install the Google One app for free temporarily, because then you can download 200 most recent ones and you can download a few special ones from the Photos-app individually.
The rest can be viewed and shared via the Google Photos app - also without wifi if you have mobile data-usage allowed switched on.

A complete reset of the Google Photos app may be required.
- Check the app trash to make sure there are no photos and videos mistakenly deleted
- Empty the trash
- tap the account icon at the top right
- tap your email address and select Use without an account
- Power down/up or restart the device
- sign in again making sure you are using the correct email
- check that the Backup & sync settings are correct and using the correct email
- wait until getting photos finishes, could take a while
- Please wait until it completes leaving the app open and plugged in if necessary.

Hi! I recently create a new Google account and migrated all my photos from the previous account to the new account. However, I have observed that Google Photos face recognition feature is not working properly in the new account.
It's updating extremely slowly and even after it detects a face there's a lot of positives.
I also don't see group similar faces option on the web interface and see it only on the app.
Further, if I try to create a new album then it doesn't give me the option to create an album using face and location data.
Further, location data is not updated at all.
I reached out to Google Photos team on twitter but they haven't replied back after an initial inquiry.
I live in Netherlands, but I don't think it's because of GDPR law.

What you are seeing is normal for new European accounts and is based on the changes made to comply with GDPR.
I have a dispute open with Google because I believe that the changes were completed incorrectly leading to what you are seeing now.
Unfortunately I have not had any meaningful updates and believe this is a low priority in the Google scheme of things.

It may just have been while a reindex was being performed.
