I used the new Google Photos to create a movie in the assistant. Several pics and videos edited together nice, save it, watch it, all the videos are in slow motion. They are all the correct length of time but I am not seeing the whole clip because of the change in video speed. I tried to time out some movements in the video to the music I chose but now they are all off and I'm not even seeing the entire video at the correct speed.

Also how do you export the videos made in Google Photos? I seem to only be able to share a link to the video now. I want the file not a link.

To assist you better, could you please let me know if you're referring to the movie created by you or the automatic animation movie created in assistance?

In both the case, I have replicated this issue from my end and it's working fine for me. However, as you're facing this issue, I'd suggest you try some of these basic troubleshooting steps on your device:

1. Sign out from your Google account and sign in back.
2. Uninstall and reinstall the Google Photos updates. (Go to Settings > Apps or Application Manager > Google Photos app > Uninstall Updates > OK). As long as you have a strong Internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data), your Play Store app will update to the latest version within a few minutes.
3. Try clearing your app data which is the same as uninstalling and reinstalling the app. After you clear your data, sign in and turn "back up & sync" on again.Open your device's Settings app (not the Google Settings app).

a. Tap Apps.
b. Select Photos in the list.
c. Tap Clear data.

4. Restart your device and see if this helps.

Also, could you please try and checking the videos on web version of Google Photos and on any another device by logging into the very same Google Account and let me know if you see the same issue?

By permanently deleted do you mean you emptied the "Bin" in the phone app or "Trash" on the desktop?

Then regret, that's an irreversible action.

There is no way to recover the pictures through google photos.

and run a scan for anything to recover.

Not all accounts have the option to edit/add people tags, but they all can remove a person:

Open the album for the given person
Select the photo(s) you want to remove
3-dots > Remove results
This will also remove the person from the photo's info.

I think it would be great if Google would allow you to simply edit people's names into and out of ALL photos.

Sometimes it is a profile or other angle that Google does not recognize. Sometimes it just misses a person it should easily recognize.

So the ability to manually add or delete people in the pictures would be a great addition to Google Photos and should be a pretty simple fix.

I think that you are misinterpreting what is happening.

If you "Save to device" from Google Photos, the photo will continue to exist in Google Photos. Google Photos would (unless something is happening incorrectly which would be Extremely uncommon) upload the same photo (of the same filename and size).

I could imagine various non-standard ways of getting an image onto your phone (changing the name, size or other less obvious attributes) which could cause a similar looking image to be uploaded.

Note: It is strongly recommended that you do not use iCloud Photo Library and Google Photos simultaneously.

If you look at the Info Panel ("Info" from the 3 dot menu) on two of the duplicated images, are the filename and size (in pixels) exactly the same?

Just to let you know, your photos will need internet connection if you're trying to see them through your Google Photos app. However, if you're trying to see them through the Device Gallery, it should not ask for any internet connection.

If they play well in her Google Photos app does not say anything about their status at Google and because you also have looked in your browser on pc, I would guess that they still are in a processing status at Google especially if your sister uses 4K movies which are extremely large files.

So they may play well now or tomorrow???

Previously I was receiving a link email from my sister, which when i clicked on (on my phone) it said something like "this will be a better experience within google photos app" which when agreed to , it goes to open the shared video in the said app - but fails to play videos as initially posted.

Videos still fail to play 4 days after I received the link - it's a 47 second video of my niece unwrapping her present - I don't think the file is particularly big, and the older videos that have been up much longer all fail to play.

Strangely, on my PC yesterday I went to the Google photos page she linked to me and right-clicked a video "open in incognito window" and it works! But that doesn't help opening them up on my phone (in either Safari browser or Google photos).

My wife send me a link to my Gmail-adress from a 40 second movie from her old iPad (1280x720 MOV-file of 54 MB, so fairly small). No problem in Chrome on PC or in the Google Photos app on my Android, but in both cases i have to click or to tap on the still picture to get it loaded and playing.

In Chrome I am logged-in for receiving the mail of my wife and in the Google Photos I am logged-in with the same adress.

If your daughter views the movie in the Google Photos app and she moves-up the picture, she can see the technical properties and then she can tell you about this data. Like shown below under Details:

Ok, so Safari on my phone has already the "block popups" disabled.

Once again I've tried clicking on the video from the emailed link, but this time i forced it to open in safari, and it is working.

I think my email program was opening links with an internal browser not the iphone's native app.

So looks like I have workarounds in both instances. Not entirely perfect that the links don't work directly as intended by Google photos, but this will have to do for now.

If you deleted images from the trash, then it is likely they are gone.

You can double check by going to the trash to see if anything remains. Alternatively, if the images were backed up from your phone AND you had backup and sync turned off prior to deleting from the trash on the web, you can see if the images remain on the phone.

Finally, if you made a duplicate of the images on your Google Drive, you can go to your MY DRIVE folder on Google Drive and check to see if any images were copied there.

Thanks for the feedback.

You can install the Google One app there is a one time option to restore up to two hundred most recent photos to the device.

However, the local folder structure can not be restored.

To do so, there is no requirement to join Google One, the option is available to everyone.

However, the method may not be effective to recover something when the count is more than two hundred.

Alternatively, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/ 

Select the Google Photos app for data download.

Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments into your phone's gallery.

That will bring everything to your phone.

Then deleting the Google account from that would be unwise.

However, if you are going to get rid of that phone, then first ensure that all the photos are backedup. Then use the "Free up memory" option to remove everything from that phone. Once done, then you can remove your account from that.

Yes, that's right. Only the owner can use Takeout.

You can indeed download the album manually (3-dots > Download all). You can select the photos and add them to a new album. That's recommended if you want to keep these photos also when the owner stops sharing them.
