I have noticed that I have had the same issue a lot of people have had in recent years - the Google Photos application is INCREDIBLY slow when I upload photos regardless if from the iPhone, iPad, or desktop.

I operate in the Apple environment. I have gone through the usual suspects of troubleshooting steps... all apps and OSs are up-to-date, speed tests show that my connectivity is where it's supposed to be, I leave the app open on the iPhones, back-up sync is enabled, devices have been rebooted, blah blah blah...

Based on the spread of posts I've seen both here and overall on the Internet, I suspect that the problem is something on the Google server side. I am trying to upload all my photos before the free tier expires on June 1.

What's going on with Google Photos?

Apart from busy servers due to covid and a general limit of 15 Gb per day, everything is normal for a free cloudservice. I never have heard that paying for more storage also will speed-up the uploads.

But how many GB's do you want to upload before June 1 what you could have done over years.

PS: on iOS you must allow the mobile Google-app to work in background (when having wifi) in the general settings and battery-saving intelligence should be off. That will speed-up remarkably.

Unless your free storage limit is reached: see https://www.google.com/settings/storage (look under Details).

Everything turned out fine using Edge browser but I'd no idea that I'd have to use Microsoft Edge for some serious purposes [Other than downloading Chrome :-) ]

Actually, I'm not sure If there's any new extension installed or any flag checked! The Sync was on! So, Chrome isn't just working on any device with the uploading! I don't think that Me and Edge do make a pretty good team! This browser is a crap!

Good questions, but we are all volunteer users trying to help each other. We thus do not know because there is not even support for us "Product experts" (users who posted a lot trying to help others).

About the issue itself:

My own experience is that it happens occasionally that photos are skipped.

It is normal that files that are not supported by Photos are skipped. That may for example happen when you select a complete folder for uploading.
But I always select only photos, and some were skipped for no reason: they always happily uploaded at a second attempt. I thus recommend to select photos for uploading instead of complete folders

Photos that were already uploaded are normally skipped (unless edited after 1st upload). But when you upload directly to an album they will also not be uploaded again, but still appear in the album. I thus recommend to upload to an album in order to verify whether duplicates are involved.
It is also recommended

to "Refresh" or "Reload" (F5 in most browsers) the Photos page to see the new uploads.
to try another browser
to sign in in an "Incognito" (or "Private") window
to clear Cache & Google Cookies

There is no way to recover the pictures through google photos.

Since yesterday almost all of my photos in Google Photos app have been duplicated. Each photo appears twice. When viewing their information I can see that one has the entire location path while the other has only its name. Their sizes are the same.

We are volonteers, so it is no easy to test downloading in comparable circumstances.

But how big is your album (how many items) and are many (or large) movies involved?

Your browser needs to create a zip-container for all files and that may become too large.

I don't know about a limit, but it maybe wise to select less then all.

This functionality has been removed by Google recently. You can find information about it on the blog post.

If you'd like to add photos from Drive, you can upload them to Google Photos but you can't sync them.

On your computer, go to photos.google.com.

Find and select your photos.
Click Upload.

I've backed up my photos and now they're missing. Every photo from June, July, August, September, and October 2020 is missing.

There are only 2 images for October, I'm really upset what can I do to find them? Up until December 2020 I could view all these images on google photos.
