Hello Sushmita Shetty,

Slide a photo up to see its info, you will see the People section. You can manually add a face there. You only need to do it ONCE (one face on one photo), it will trigger face recognition again. After hours, you will get updated faces.

Use this trick to remove wrong/duplicate faces and force the app to rescan the photos.

See what I get now, all the faces, yay!

I do understand the inconvenience as you're unable to load the album of your Google Photos. Therefore, I recommend trying the steps below in sequence, this may help in fixing the issue:

Make sure your device is up-to-date.
Make sure the App is up-to-date.
Try restarting the App through the following steps:

Go to your App Settings.
Click stop on the afflicted App with the Force Stop button.
Wait a few seconds to make sure the App has stopped processing, and then attempt to re-start it.

Close the background running apps through the following steps:

Go to your App Settings.
Display the Active Apps on your device.
Select the App you wish to close and Force Stop it.
Repeat this step with all active Apps.

Try clearing your App cache through the following steps:

Tap the system Settings tab on the main screen of your device.

If you delete any photo or video on your device, the sync action will remove that from Google Photos also.

Sync means that your photo library stays consistent across all devices that are signed in to your account with Google Photos.
For example, deleting a photo from one device will delete it from everywhere, and editing a photo on the web will edit the photo on the original device.

However, you can remove the device copy through Google Photos.

To do so, open the item & then tap the three dots at the top right corner. Below the pic, you will find the option "Delete form device". That will remove the pic only from your phone leaving the one in Google Photos intact.

You can't do that anymore and even if there was another method, it is not attractiev because you would use a lot of storage at Google because on Drive each byte count. But the pictures "synced" by Google take no storage at all. The pictures are not coupled to the originals on Photos, so a deletion will not cause another deletion anymore.

It is not clear it you are using a computer for creating a better backup then Drive, because if something goes wrong with your account, you can't access Drive and Photos at all - or some-one else if you are not able to do that yourself anymore.

I liked having the photos automatically go from my iPhone to google photos and also to the google photo folder in my g drive. That's a sick idea.

Until July the additional storage on Drive was automatic and free of costs. That bulk will stay free of costs and detached from Google Photos, but each picture added to Drive will count for your storage at Google now and you will need to pay for more storage soon unless you make just a few pictures per month.

But if you stick to go on this way, you have a manual job daily or weekly on iPhone: select some family pictures on in the Google Photos app, hit the Share-icon (lying V), select the Drive-icon, select the wanted Family-folder and then hit Proceed or whatever. The same procedure for your Work-picture.

You also can make a new yearfolder and just store all new pictures there initially - that maybe more comfortable for further organising on Drive.

I do think that the method is wrong because the pictures loose their data, but I have to check that.

A much better method would be to transfer the actual Drive-folder to Google Photos in order to create thematic albums there - then you can leave Drive completely and all may stay without costs if you are using the High Quality setting for unlimited storage in the Google Photos app.

Keeping such albums up to date is much less work then going on with Drive. And then you have all within one application with more comfortable viewing - also via Chromecast or Nest-hub.

2 particular Snapchat videos I backed to Photos can't be played or downloaded on Android app nor desktop. All other videos can be played except these 2, and they were still playable as recently as this year. I tried restarting my phone, deleting cache and data, etc but it doesn't work on Web either. The thumbnails are still in my photos and a shared album, with info of file names and 1 has time duration stamp on thumbnail. Searching Google Drive with file names shows no result. These are important videos that I need back.

I'm not familiar with Snapchat, isn't it supposed to not let you save videos or content? Have you checked your phone's local storage with a file manager app to see if you can find the video files?

You may try downloading the videos using Google Takeout https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout to see whether anything is still left online. Be sure to unselect all products except Google Photos and pick the album containing the videos, or add the videos to a new album and pick that album.

A recent update to Google Photos has all of a sudden started grouping all the pics for a whole month together. It used to display then in daily groups. I often use the date on a pic to find related pics. I often have hundreds of pics in a single month making the new grouping nearly useless!
