When I enabled the people grouping, at People & Pets some people had more than one group created. Since they are the same person, I would like to merge the two groups, but couldn't find a way either on Android app nor using the web Photos.

Answer:

Hi, William Wallace 309

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Adding the same name through the contacts for the two groups expedites the merger.
When we update the name, the app or web page may ask "Same or different person?" When we tap on the same person, the groups get merged.

Are you saying something about the creation of themed movies like "Mothers day" etc.?
You will notice some remarks on each theme. The Mothers day theme says " Works better if you have a lots of photos of the mother and child".
If the app doesn't find an adequate number of photos to fill in the theme, the movie creation may not happen.

Question: My google photos are linked with smb else's account and they have access to all of my phone photos

My photos from my previous phone (that was a Samsung android) are somehow linked to someone else's google cloud/account (who has never used the phone). No one has access to this phone anymore. It is a huge privacy issue and I have no idea how to solve it.

Answer:

Constantina Tsiara

If someone has access to your account, this person either knows your Uid and password, or has access to a device (phone/computer) where you signed in and did not sign out.
How do you know that someone can access these photos?  Did someone tell you?
Do you still have the old phone?

Question: Photo delete lo wabas

Hi there,

1. Check your online account - photos.google.com
If your photos were successfully uploaded to your online Google Photos account they may be available there. Try visiting photos.google.com and searching for them. If you have more than one Google account, check all of them.

2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash
Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.

If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos

3. Review other options
  • visit picasaweb.google.com and search for your photos.
  • have you made any backups of the photos on your phone, camera, computer, or elsewhere?
  • there is a small chance that you can recover the photos using a recover deleted photos app.
  • you can contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Use the Google Drive contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.
  • If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.

Question: How can i delete duplicate photos in google photos

Hi, Sarena Justice

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Google Photos never uploads the same picture multiple times.
What we see as duplicates have some difference in file format or metadata.

Regrettably, Google Photos doesn't provide any means to remove the apparent duplicates. You have to search those manually.

However, you will find some tips in this article on how to avoid duplicates in the first place & how to remove the ones which are already there.

Answer:

Addition
Because it are a few pictures from low quality media like Snapchat, the look-alikes probably have got the date that you did have them synced again.
So if you look on the Search-pane under the thumbnails and you choose Recently added, you probably will see them immediately and then they can be deleted easily. But you should switch-off the backup temporarily in order to prevent that they also disappear in Snapchat itsel, unless that does not matter.
Good luck

Answer:

On occasion, Google Files will have a few duplicate photos for you to delete to suggestively free up space in the beginning of the app. That's as good as it gets!

Answer:

@Donna
Most problems are with look-alikes in Google cloud (photos.google.com) and Google Files only can scan local files.
Sofar no help from Google about this eternal complaint.

Hello

I just saw your recent update that after 1st June 2021 nothing will count which is store before 1st June 2021.

It means all photos videos and other data stored in photo's will get deleted automatically..?

What can i do i want all those data

Answer:

Hi, Rahul Veshvikar

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Your photos collection is going to remain intact even after 1st June 2021. Those will continue to occupy zero space even after that date, unless you do some editing on those photos or videos.

However, when you upload something afresh, that will count towards space along with your Gmail & Google drive documents.
Once that fills up the 15 GB quota, then you will lose access to your photos unless you delete something.

Answer:

Hi,  Purnima Bantawa

Thanks for your reply

I suggest, now you uninstall & reinstall the Google Photos app through the following steps.
I suggest you clear the cached & stored data of the Google Photos app & then reinstall the app.
  • On your Android phone, open the Settings.
  • Tap Apps and notifications.
  • Tap Show all apps.
  • Tap Google Photos.
  • Tap Storage and cache.
  • Tap Clear storage.
  • Next, uninstall the Google Photos app.
  • Power off the phone & then restart.
  • Install the latest version of the Google Photos app through the Play Store.
Log into your profile & see whether that helps to overcome the current problem.

Nevertheless, if there is insufficient free space on your phone you may face the problem again.

Additionally, please go through the checklist below to see whether any of that applies to your phone.
There can be multiple reasons for the backup not to happen.

# The quantum of photos to be backed is high.
# WIFI connectivity is intermittent. Too many devices connected to the same router thus restricting the bandwidth.
# Download & upload speeds are too asymmetric.
# Google Photos app is not allowed to use
  • Data in the background
  • Mobile data
  • Mobile data while roaming
# Activation of data saver through the settings.
# Putting a limit on the daily use of mobile data through the settings in the app.
# Putting a limit on the use of total data in a month through the settings in the phone.
# Activating battery saver or super saver mode.
Try to resolve these issues & confirm whether the backup happens quickly.

Question: How do I sync photos from google photos back to my iPhone

How do I sync photos from google photos to my iPhone

@Nicole
Did you check the Recently deleted folder in the Apple Photos app?

You can't sync backwards from Google, but if you shrink the display to monthview, you can select a month full by hitting the month's name and then you hit the icon with the arrow in the wrong direction and then select Save on device. Repeat this for the months of this year, but not more in order to keep enough space on your phone for new shoots and especially for the ugly videos which use many gigabytes nowadays.

You can view all years in the Google app when having wifi and you seldom will need an old picture for some chat, but that can be downloaded individually then.
Best

PS: never use the Free-up space option again, but then you must keep checking your local space and delete the oldest pictures yourself every month and most people are too lazy for doing that :-)

I’m sorry, it’s not possible to recover photos permanently deleted from the Google Photos Trash. However, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to pick one that doesn't require rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps and run a scan for anything to recover.

Answer:

Sorry Thomas, but we can't handle account matters here.
But the very basic thing you always can do, is changing your Google password (nothing more) - assuming these people do harm your Google apps merely.
Of course then you also should update your new password in these apps.
Good luck

PS: be aware that any shared album via Google Photos with these in which you did not have switched-off collaboration, can be misused by adding ugly pictures to that album. Best to delete such an album immediately.

Can send them out to whomever,  they can sell them.  Who st Google do I talk to.  This reminds me a couple years a lady named  Melissa Champlain  took copies of my medical records and posted them on Google  "Ask.the community " on the reviews.  They took them down  but people saw and message me.  Google wouldn't get back to me. Someone that knows what  kind of laws are broken and what i need to do.  I have the information on the people that took my property.  They've  sent me a obscure  messages with tricky ways of opening and when you do you see a video or some pictures that belong to me. So I know they have them. Nobody is telling me if that  email address is safe to use. Thanks for getting back no one else does.

You did not even read my comment - we can do nothing against this - no Google here either - but if you have no Google One subcription, you can't have Google support either.
But it always are mistakes of users, because you seem to have shared with the people you named.
And then you can''t prevent what they do with your pictures.
Be aware that we talk about Google Photos here - not about any other apps or public blogs or sites.

Checked all the suggested remedies and found none of them is the cause of my problem. One clue i want to share with experts. With the same wifi and internet service provider my google photo account in iphone / iOS quickly does the backup where as in android it gets stuck. Checked for all the updates for android and google etc. All are updated. All permissions are granted. No battery saver issue. Did several restarts , rebooting and those basic stuffs.

It is just not happening

Answer:

Hi,  Rakesh Mishra 7371

Thanks for the additional information.

Nevertheless, I use an Android phone only.
However, the moment I capture a screenshot on my phone, that becomes available on my desktop Google Photos the next moment. The backup happens at that lightning speed.

Still, I suggest you make an internet speed test through both devices.
It may be so that your Android phone is getting less bandwidth out of the total available spectrum.

I pay for 2TB of data per year.  Backup and sync reports that my .orf files have been backed up.  When I go to Google Photos, they are not there. They are in Google Drive though.

My understanding was that raw photos were compatible with Google Photos.  It's really inconvenient to not have access to my raw photos in Photos as I use this to share with family.

Is this a bug?

Sean

Answer:

The range of Olympus-cameras which have raw-formats that are compatible with Google Foto's is rather restricted as you can see on this link

E-M1, E-M5, E-M10, E-P1, E-P2, E-P3, E-P5, E-PL3, E-PL5, E-PL7, OM-D E-M5 Mark II

If not in the list, your raw-files will stick on Drive only and will take storage there.
But you can share these folders, although I would advice not to share your backup because these folders are not prepared for sharing. Better to make neat folders with jpg-files for that purpose.

There is not much experience here with raw and Olympus is not very general either.
And no Google here to say sorry.

PS: not clear if you have forgotten to include raw in the settings under Change in the folderpanel.
And if High Quality is chosen instead of Original, compatible raws are converted into jpg's.

And no Google here to say sorry.

PS: not clear if you have forgotten to include raw in the settings under Change in the folderpanel.
And if High Quality is chosen instead of Original, compatible raws are converted into jpg's.

Hi, Jasbir Singh 3034

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

First, you should contact the support forum of the manufacturer of your phone.
Next, regretfully, the editor in Google Photos doesn't provide any facility to mirror a video
However, you can find a suitable app on the play store to do so.
