I ordered a photo book that is being delivered via FedEx. It has shipped but has not been delivered yet and I need to change the address. I called FedEx to make this change, but they said that Google needs to call them to request the change. But I am stuck in the support post loop with Google, but this is a new issue - and I have privacy concerns because the photo book will now be delivered incorrectly!
Answer:
Hi Erin,
I recommend that you report the issue to Google as this help page explains under "Report a damaged photo book" https://support.google.com/photos/answer/7378812?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&oco=1 Or use this contact form https://support.google.com/photos/gethelp

I installed "Backup & Sync from Google" on my computer, pointed it to my pictures directory and got everything uploaded. I then went to organize my folders/files as I realized I had too much junk. Now I deleted probably over 1,000 photos in several different folders but it seems it's still on Google Photos.
"Always remove both copies" is selected, and it's deleting it from Google Drive, but still showing on Google Photos. Is there a way to get the photos I deleted from my PC to also delete on Google Photos?
I would rather not have to delete all photos on Google Photos and resync, just a waste of time & bandwidth.
Answer:
Answer:
I would suggest to use the Feeback-form in the app (under its famous dots) to complain about the misleading words "both copies". That would imply the copies on Drive + Photos and not the copy on computer + Drive only. Because the copy on computer is no copy, but the original (mostly).

I wanna star one of my personal photos, but I don't know how!
Answer:
Hello Chris,
unfortunately you have been caught out by the changes in the Drive/Photos simplification. The deletion option has changed (no warning, not documented) from Remove everywhere which meant computer and Google Photos TO Remove both copies which means the computer copy and the Drive copy. The Photos copy is no longer removed other by removing manually in Google Photos,
Sorry,
Peter

I can not think on any workaround unless you still have the delete in the trash on Drive: then you have a reference when viewing the Photos-library for deleting the same.
Sorry, but Google does not use us as bêta-testers before pushing such basic changes through out throats.
Answer:
Well that was painful, I had to go and just delete everything and start over. Deleting 30k+ photos was not easy, couldn't do it on my PC so had to use my phone to scroll down from top to bottom to delete in batches of 2,000 or so. Then upload everything again, so it's nice and organized on Drive & Photos.
Now Comcast is yelling at me for passing my limit, luckily it's a grace period. What a disaster this whole process has been.

But a struggle indeed, just because of your own wish to become "original".
And now the next disappointment: Google has broken the connection between Photos and drive during the last weeks, so you should restrict to Photos only and build thematic albums there.
This was their general message about: this link
Can't help / sorry.

Answer:
Hello Xemphyr,
A complete reset of the Google Photos app may be required.
- Check the app trash to make sure there are no photos and videos mistakenly deleted
- Empty the trash
- tap the account icon at the top right
- tap your email address and select Use without an account
- Power down/up or restart the device
- sign in again making sure you are using the correct email
- check that the Backup & sync settings are correct and using the correct email
- wait until getting photos finishes, could take a while
- Please wait until it completes leaving the app open and plugged in if necessary.
Regards,
Peter

Hi, Frances Hodgins

When someone adds a picture to a shared album, we get a notification. However, there wouldn't be any URL. The photo will get included in the library, directly.
Nevertheless, you will find some message in the sharing tab. To view that, please tap the icon of the rectangle at the top left corner of the app.

You can't create nested albums - that only can be done with folders on Google Drive or MS OneDrive.
If you open an album and choose Add pictures, you can see which pictures are unmarked and then it is more easy to add some recent ones.
Good luck
PS: be aware that pictures picked from social media have incorrect dates, so they always cause problems with chronological sorting.

Photos do not get deleted spontaneously without any user-generated action.
When we delete something from the phone, the sync action in the app removes it from the cloud also & vice versa,
Nevertheless, any deleted picture is retained in the bin for sixty days,
If your delete action is recent, you will find all the items in the bin. The bin icon becomes visible in the library view. Tap that & recover everything available in the bin.
However, if your delete action has already crossed sixty days, or you have emptied the bin inadvertently, there is no way to recover anything through Google Photos.
However, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to not pick one that requires rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps
and run a scan for anything to recover.

Now- with that out of the way let's deal with NANI SINGEL's post in Google Photos.
Please note that, due to a variety of reasons, not all files can be recovered - but you can try!
1. Items deleted from your photos.google.com are stored in trash for 60 days and then are Auto-Deleted from trash and can not be recovered.
2. Items deleted manually from photos.google.com/trash can not be recovered.
3. Items deleted from your YouTube Channel can not be recovered.
4. Items deleted from your Gmail are stored in trash for 30 days and then are Auto-Deleted from trash and can not be recovered.
5. Items manually deleted from Gmail trash can not be recovered.
6. Items deleted from your Google Drive will be stored in Drive Trash for 30 days and then be Auto-Deleted from Trash and can not be recovered.
1).If you are using a regular personal account
You will have to contact a Google Drive Specialist who *MAY* be able to restore it. Use this link:
2). If you use a work/student account (G Suite), you should contact your Account Admin as they can restore files up to 25 days after deletion.

Question: I would like to rename my photo on my phone..
Hi, Noah 3753
Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.
However, regretfully, there is no facility to rename a photo file through the Google Photos app.
You can do that either through some file explorer app for the pics residing in the internal memory of your phone. Then upload that to Google photos for further actions.
Answer:
Addition
Renaming files is oldmodish and unhandy because the filenames are not shown in the Photos-app in foreground.
Just type a short explanation in your mail above the attachment - if the receiver downloads the file to his of her computer, he or she can change the filename easily if that fits better to his or her collection.
But the original filenumbers allow for correct sorting in date-order.

Now that Google Drive and Google Photos have become independent products, is there an easy way to find out which photos appear in my Google Drive > Google Photos folder that do not appear in Google Photos?
This will allow me to upload these files to Google Photos from Google Drive, and then safely delete the Google Photos folder from Google Drive (as all photos should now be independently stored in Google Photos).
The result will be for all my photos to be stored in one place, without duplication or omission.

As I have always done in the past, I took photos on my Android phone, which were backed up to Google. Then I made edits, added notations and deleted photos. These changes were NOT backed up. The original photos remained. Then I created albums and added my edited photos. These are not only not being backed up to Google, but I cannot even shared these albums from my phone. I have shared many, many albums created on my phone in the past. All of a sudden, it is impossible to do so. What has happened and how do I fix it?

Yes, this is a problem with the new Google disconnecting Android Google Photos to Web Google photos. Evidently these are stored to different physical storage backends... It's a case of ready fire aim implementation philosophy for google consumer products. Don't know how this is going to help paying consumers.

Hi,
I have an old iPhone 6+, the IOS is v12.5.2, and my google photo app v5.38.
I usually use google photo to backup photo/video from my phone (my google 1 plan is 200GB), and it was working fine until I update my app to v5.38. I was able to lunch the APP but in the first page of app the screen freeze, I can't press any function at all, and the screen did not well display my stored photo from cloud. The last working fine day was in 18-Feb-2021, and today I managed to use Chrome to backup my photo without using the APP.
I've done these before I ask for help:
1. Backup and delete photos/videos from my phone to clear my phone storage.
2. Delete Google Photo APP and Re-install again
3. Hard Power ON/OFF my phone
And none of above helps on my problem.
Is there anyone know what's wrong?
BTW, according to Google 1, my google photo take out 54.6GB space.
Below is the screen capture of the APP, the first two photos are not sync to cloud yet, they shows blur thumbnail but not as blur as it shows below.

Hi Christine,
Do you mean comments you made to photos in shared albums or descriptions you added to photos?

Do you mean on https://photos.google.com/albums in the Safari-browser of your Macbook or iMac?
Did you try to enter a few letters in the searchbox on top of the page and see if you can select and view an album then?
It can be a temporary problem at your Google-server or your browser is too old.
Please come back with more information.
But there are not much Apple-users here - most are on poor Windows :-)
Answer:
Well I'm on a poor old Apple: Mac pro 2004 and that may be the problem. Anyhow when I have the album window up I can see all of the albums but when I click on one I get the circling arrow. I am on the newest version of Chrome that Apple allows me to use.
This exclusionary tactic by Apple &/or Google is not right. Shall we demonstrate?

Sorry, I did miss your reply.
The Chrome-browser in my up-to-date Windows has version-number 90, so quite likely your version is much older too and can't be updated anymore either.
See Help > Over Chrome under its 3 dots or something alike.
But apart from anything: 2014 already is old, but 2004 is in the Middle Ages.
If you don't really need a computer anymore, I would suggest to buy the cheapest iPad which has a very good screen for viewing pictures in the Google Photos-app (or in the Safari-browser) and its keyboard is large enough for comfortable typing a mail.
Then the old computer can be disconnected from the web for typing your memoires :-)
Best
PS: when you type a year number or just a space in the searchbox, what comes-up then?

Hello! I created many photo albums on my phone (pixel 2) using the google photos app. The photos have synced to the cloud correctly, but the albums are not syncing. Please can you help me sync the albums as well. I have cleared the cache and I have signed in and out of my account, however the albums are not syncing.
Answer:
Hello Param Ajmera,
This is a question we get asked often, unfortunately this is the way Photos has been designed and syncing device folders is something which hasn't been included in the Google Photos development.
It would help if you added to the numbers by leaving feedback so the development team can prioritise this as a feature request titled 'Device folders not syncing to the web' we are advised that the comments are evaluated at a management level and development is prioritised according to the results of the analysis.
You can create Albums which will be visible in Google Photos, please see:> Creating Albums on Android which should be fairly easy to do by opening one of the Device folders, select all the photos and add to a new album giving it the same name as the device folder. You can see the device folders in the Album view classed as Photos on the device or by tapping the 3 bar menu option Device folders
Good luck,
Peter

As I have always done in the past, I took photos on my Android phone, which were backed up to Google. Then I made edits, added notations and deleted photos. These changes were NOT backed up. The original photos remained. Then I created albums and added my edited photos. These are not only not being backed up to Google, but I cannot even shared these albums from my phone. I have shared many, many albums created on my phone in the past. All of a sudden, it is impossible to do so. What has happened and how do I fix it?
Answer:
Yes, this is a problem with the new Google disconnecting Android Google Photos to Web Google photos. Evidently these are stored to different physical storage backends... It's a case of ready fire aim implementation philosophy for google consumer products. Don't know how this is going to help paying consumers.

Question: I mistakenly deleted trash datas from Google photos app, could you please help me to recover photos
Hi Roshan
You won't be able to restore a photo if:
- You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
- You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
- You permanently deleted it from your trash.
- You permanently deleted it from your device's Gallery app, without backing it up first.
You may want to see if you shared the images with anyone else either on Google photos or social media prior to deleting it to see if you can recover a different way.
Here is more information on managing photos https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6128858?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&oco=1
Also if you deleted the images from your local storage recently, you can try downloading and installing a third party data recovery software to see if they can recover images from your local phone storage. typically you download the software to your computer, attach your phone via USB cable, then run the software to attempt data recovery. The software will not attempt recovery from Google's online servers. I do not have a recommendation for which software to use but you can research which is best for your needs.
Cheers
Joe

Maybe wise to create a new folder on Drive first for these pictures.
But why you want to use Drive and not Google Photos?
Because filling Drive will eat your free storage.

Answer:
Sorry, I could not reply immediately.
And why you did not send that picture as a normal attachment to your mail using the paperclip?
Because it is nonsense to use Google Drive for this simple purpose unless the file is too large for a normal attachment. But that is very unlikely for a single photo.
Next time be more clear to prevent wrong answers from our side.
Answer:
I just want to email a photo to my insurance company from the photos. It's not openable when they get it.
You need to Share an image from Google Drive (or photos) not merely send a URL link (unless created from Share). Have you tried this?
