I have backed up some of my photos on Google Photos, but it says the backup is complete when I still have over 2000 photos saved on my device. I have freed up all the space I can using Google Photos, but my photos are still taking up 3Gb of storage on my phone. I would really like to get all of my photos backed up, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

A family shared an album with me. I can fully interact with it on a laptop (view, comment, add photos). When on my Android I can only see photos from up to 2 months ago. Regardless of how I attempt to view the new photos (via notification prompt, navigating from my own Photos, etc.) I cannot see more recent photos. I also have not been able to add photos from my Android.

Answer:

Hi, Robin West 5421

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

To view a shared album, can you please try viewing that through the sharing icon? You will find that icon near the three dots at the top right corner.
Once you tap on that, the pics will appear in reversed chronological order from bottom to top.

Nevertheless, you can always suggest some new feature through the help & feedback route.
Once a sufficient number of users request the same feature, that may become available later on.

Answer:

The only way to see the 3 dots is to already have the album open, and I don't see what you're describing in the menu that opens. It's not an issue of annoyance with scrolling. The new photos will not appear, no matter how much I scroll or search for them.

Hello,
How can I have Photos find my kid's photos to select the ones I want to put into a book? When I click create a book, I don't see an option to find faces.

Answer:

Hi Jason,

>>>> How can I have Photos find my kid's photos to select the ones I want to put into a book? When I click create a book, I don't see an option to find faces.

Actually, when out are ~in~ a specific person's face, there is an "Order book" selection, however, I don't really think that is the optimal way to create a book (because AI selects what IT likes and often you want to include more than one person in a book)..

I think it is better to go into the specific faces and then save the photos you want to include in the photobook into a temporary album. Then rearrange the order the way you want them in the album.
Then click on the Shopping Cart and select photobook.

The advantage of staging the photos in an album is you can easily share your possible photos with other for review and it is easy to accumulate images over a period of time and then create a book.

Good luck, Dougsap (volunteer Google Photos user)

Question: My photo are not backup in my divce

I need latest photo and video

Hi, VINAY VINAY

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

The Google Photos app backs up the pics to the cloud from the device & not the other way round.

Nevertheless, to bring back the pics to your phone's gallery, either, you can download photos one by one. Regrettably, there is no option to do so on a batch of photos.

Or, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/;
Select the Google Photos app for data download.
Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments into your phone's gallery.

That will bring everything to your phone.

Question: Jan6th photo miss

Hi, VANI PAPPULA

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

However. photos do not get deleted spontaneously without any user-initiated action.
Further, when we delete something from the phone, the sync action in the app removes it from the cloud also. The same action happens when we delete something in Google Photos, the app removes the matching content from the phone too.

Nevertheless, any deleted picture is retained in the bin for sixty days.

If your delete action is recent, you will find all the items in the bin. The bin icon becomes visible in the library view. Tap that & recover everything available in the bin.

However, if your delete action has already crossed sixty days, or you have emptied the bin inadvertently, there is no way to recover anything through Google Photos.

However, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to not pick one that requires rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps;
and run a scan for anything to recover.

By "permanently deleted" do you mean you emptied the "Bin" in the phone app or "Trash" on the desktop?
Then that becomes an irreversible action.

Regretfully, once the Bin is emptied, there is no way to recover the video through google photos.

Question: How to store all photos into my SD card

I want to store all my photos to be in SD card storage to save storage space in Google photos

Hello Dr Sowmya Munugoti,

Moving photos to the SD card does not save storage space in Google Photos.

It only saves the internal space on your device and here is the way it works.
  1. Open Google Photos
  2. Tab Library
  3. Tap the desired folder under Photos on device
  4. Select photos by long pressing then tap others after the tick confirms the first selection
    • You can also long press and stroke down to select a batch
  5. Tap the 3 dot menu top right
  6. Tap Move to folder
  7. Tap New SD folder, type a folder name then tap Create
Note that if the photos are backed up to Google Photos this will not remove them from the Photos view and even if the new folder is not selected for Backup & sync any contents will still be deleted if deleted using the Google Photos app or Google Photos on the web..

You should also have a setting in your camera app which saves new photos to the SD card.

Regards,

Peter

Hi, Vishal Mathur

To find the Google Photos app, you need to search the app gallery.
Sometimes, the phone manufacturer clubs all the Google apps in a single folder on the home screen. Have you looked into that.
Even then, if you do not find the app, please arrange to install that through the Play store. If the app is already there, you will see an option to open that directly.

Space not recovered from my OnePlus 5T after data clean up

Hi, kjaj

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Your action of deleting photos to create space may be ineffective.

Google photos should occupy zero space for the activities up to 31st May 2021 if you have chosen to save the pics in High-Quality format.

To check what is occupying the space, you need to visit this link.https://one.google.com/storage/management
There, you will also find some tips on how to retrieve some of the storage space.
Follow those, but while doing so please ensure that you are not losing some critical data.

However, this link will show only the quantum of Original Quality photos & offer an option to delete those.
If you wish to convert these to quality, please visit https://photos.google.com/settings
That page will offer two options a) Purchase additional storage or b) Recover storage.
The second option will offer to convert all original quality content to high-quality
Tap/click on that & then all the pictures in original quality will be converted to high-quality.

Since Google stopped syncing between Drive and Google, I cannot find a simple way to have my photos from Google Photos backed up to my computer (PC). I like to have copies of all my pictures on my computer and do not want to have to manually download them all the time.
Is there a way to do this?

Answer:

Hello Theresa Baker,

For new photos taken on mobile I have the OneDrive app installed with settings to upload new photos to the OneDrive cloud where they go into the camera roll. I have the camera roll synced to my HD where I manually move them to add to my photo archive.

Moving them deletes from OneDrive where they are stored in the recycle folder for 30 days.
Deleting from OneDrive does not delete from the mobile device.
Deleting from the mobile device does not delete from OneDrive

The photos are backed up to Google Photos as normal and I am using OneDrive because it is part of Windows, but Dropbox also works,

    Hi, Chateau Relaxo

The video editor in the Google Photos app allows trimming from both the leading & trailing ends.
To remove some middle portion, you will have to use the following strategy.
First, delete the frames from the leading end including the unwanted middle ones. Save that as one file.
Next, delete the frames from the trailing end once again including the middle ones. Save that as a second file
Now join these through the movie option, including the third short video
That will provide you with the required assembly of a new video.

If I understand your problem correctly, this is something happening.
When you open the photos tab in the app & long press any picture, that one should get selected & small circles should appear on the rest all to enable further selection.
Somehow that's not happening & the app is not offering you to select more pictures.
    Is that correct?
If so, as a first step, I suggest you clear both the cached & stored data of the app through the settings on your phone & then check whether that makes any improvement.

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Sorry to note your are not finding your pictures.

However. photos do not get deleted spontaneously without any user-initiated action.

    However, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to not pick one that requires rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps;
and run a scan for anything to recover.
