I already backed up all of my photos using back up & sync in original quality. They are all in google photos with their original size and resolution. But, when i checked them in drive folder, it's showing the original file size but storage usage is 0 bytes. Though i uploaded it in original resolution. Then, i thought it may allocate space in google photos. But, i checked my total storage distribution and finds google photos is not allocating them.

There is a bug with the storage allocation which means it does not show,

If you want confirmation of the Google Photos usage you can follow the steps below.

Go to Google Dashboard and expand the Photos tab then left click on the 3 dots and select Download data. If you wait a minute until 'All photos albums included' pops up then click on it and deselect all.
Then scroll down and select all the year albums Photos from 2020 etc. You will now get a single copy of each photo, one json file per photo, and one filename-edited.jpg for each edited photo.
The contents of all manually created albums will also be in the year folders so there is no need to include them because they do not use storage allocation. An album is a collection of links pointing to the year album copies.
Continue to create the download and wait for completion then you will see a summary of the Takeout which will give you the total size. For a quick estimate choose the 50GB output size, there is no need to download unless you want to create an offline archive for security.

Hi folks… I am really enjoying google photos and have loaded now more than 320,000 still images. The face recognition is very good and I have now labeled over 700 people. (is that considered a lot.. or average.. I don't know if I'm pushing the system beyond what it's intended to do)

The problem I have is that each time I find an unrecognized face and an image the process for labeling is so awkward at least in the web app version I'm using. ...

What I currently do is:

You have to click 'X faces available to add' the info panel of that picture
You then click the '_\\+' on each of the photos you want to label
you then hit the '+' in the upper right of the face sorter
you then click 'create' in the pop-up asking 'Create new person or Pet'
then hit 'done' in the upper right of the side panel
at no point in that process do I get to provide the persons name. It seems you have to wait for that face to show up unlabeled in the 'search people and pets' sorter .. then you can label the picture. Thats a huge pane because I already have more than 700 labeled faces in that sorter… Do you have to go to the bottom of that list and do the needle in a haystack to find the picture that you added a couple of days back. Worse… Every time you add one of them… You have to go back to the top of the list and look again.

SO here are my questions:

is there any way for me to add the persons name right when I recognize an unlabeled face in a photo?… I'm currently using the web interface but I could also use the iOS or Android app if touch features exist there
Is there a way to only show unlabeled faces in the person and pets sorter so I don't have to continuously scroll through the 700 that I've already labeled to see what still needs labeling
Bonus question: I notice that sometimes faces show up as "hidden"… In the sorter… Though I've never done anything to hide them… any idea why that's happening ?
Double bonus question: is there an API that I could use to do all of this labeling in code?

I can comprehend the trouble that you are having because of the enormous collection of the faces.

However, in the web version through a desktop, you have got one option. Open the unnamed face in another tab through a right-click & then add the name label.
That way, the page going back to the top can be circumvented.
Later on, you can refresh the page to see how many are left out.

Nevertheless, you can suggest any expected improvements through the "Help & Feedback" option.
Once a sufficient number of users request the same improvement, we may see that being implemented later on.

If your delete action is recent, you will find all the items in the bin. The bin icon becomes visible in the library view. Tap that & recover everything available in the bin.

However, if your delete action has already crossed sixty days, or you have emptied the bin inadvertently, there is no way to recover anything through Google Photos.

I suggest you clear the cached & stored data of the Google Photos app & then reinstall the app.

You can do that through these steps.

On your Android phone, open the Settings.

Tap Show all apps.

Tap Storage and cache.
Tap Clear storage.
Next, uninstall the Google Photos app.
Power off the phone & then restart.
