I have the App set up to back up and sync when home with wifi, which is regularly these days. I hadn't gone into the App for a while but did today and my photos are only backed up until October 2020, but it says back up is complete. I have a lot of photos since October 2020, so this is not correct. I can't work out how to back up and sync my photos since October 2020. I have storage space remaining, so I don't think that is the issue.

Answer:

Probably tomorrow it will go on.
There is some max per day.
And especially videos will slow the process down extremely.
Good luck

Answer:

Thanks for your response. I've gone into the app today and it hasn't synced of backed up any further, and is now asking me to select which photos from my phone I want to give access to and individually select them. It used to just automatically sync all photos and videos straight into the app when connected to wifi. If I don't select any photos, it doesn't seem to do anything. Every time I previously opened the app it would appear to scan the phone for any new photos and commence backing up/syncing. It doesn't do that anymore.

Answer:

@Madison
I only use my iPad incidently for shooting one picture and at home with good wifi that is uploaded immediately if I start the Google app.
But I have checked the general iPad settings for the app and I do think that you need to select All pictures at the iCloud option. And background refresh should be on always.
Just try.

Answer:

Thank you. I went into the iPhone settings and accessed the app that way and it had for some reason flicked from all photos to selected photos. I've changed it back and it is now syncing all of my photos. Appreciate your help!

Question: Some photos of 9-12-2020 is missing plz find photos

Plz find all photos

Hi, Vikas Trivedi

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

First, this is a peer support forum where the queries are answered by volunteers who are users like you.
There aren't any Google employees or representatives reading the posts.
Nevertheless, we answer the queries based on the product knowledge & experience.

Since we use the free service, there wouldn't be any official support from Google & hence the existence of such peer support forums.

In short, no one has access to your cloud storage data.
You are the owner & only you can decide what to do with that.

Still, if the photos are missing, did you delete those through Google Photos?
If so, you may find those in the bin. Any deleted item stays in the bin for sixty days.
However, if that sixty days limit is over or if you empty the bin, then there is no way to recover any pictures through Google Photos.

Question: How can I get back a picture that was deleted permanently from trash

How can I recover photos that was permanently deleted from trash

Hi Belinda,

I’m sorry, it’s not possible to recover photos permanently deleted from the Google Photos Trash. However, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to pick one that doesn't require rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps and run a scan for anything to recover.

As per new guidelines from June 2021 photos exceeding the storage limit might get affected, so i was trying to save all my photos to my android storage but instead of saving it i accidentally deleted them. Can it be recovered

Hoping to get a positive responsr. Thanks

Answer:

Hi, Rohit Choudhary 3447

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Sorry to note you interpreted the new storage policy incorrectly.
Nothing is going to happen to the high-quality storage that you will be uploading up to the 31st of May 2021. That will continue to count zero space towards storage even after 1st June 2021.

Further, deleting an album doesn't delete the underlying photos.
See the remark on this help page.
https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6128849?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en#zippy=%2Cdelete-an-album
Delete album. Photos and videos in the album will still be in your Google Photos library unless you delete them from the main “Photos” section.

Also, there is no option to download in multiples. You have to do that one by one only.

Nevertheless, since you are not finding anything in the bin that means now the photos stand "Permanently deleted".
Then, regretfully, there is no way to bring those back through Google Photos.

Further, everything was there on the cloud only & hence there is no question of using any file recovery app to get back something through the memory of your phone.

All this loss could have been avoided had you sought clarification about the changes in storage policy beforehand.

Good Morning

My partner has an IPhone 11. She backs up all her IOS photos on Google Photos.

I have a Pixel 3XL (soon to upgrade to another Pixel).

We have photo sharing / partner sharing in Google Photos.

Her storage is almost full.

If she deletes the locally saved IOS pictures on her iPhone, and then deletes the backups from her Google Photos (so to create more space) will all of her old photos be backed up on my Google Photos?

Many thanks.

Answer:

Hello Heff,

Assuming you have saved the photos to your library they will remain in your library after the original copy is deleted.

However, until the 31st May she can recover the storage to zero at Settings - Recover storage - tap here

Question: Im delete my gf video my mistake please restore my video

Hi Vishnu,

If the deleted video is still in the Google Photos Trash you might be able to restore it as explained in these instructions https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6128867?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&oco=1

Otherwise it’s not possible to recover photos and videos permanently deleted from the Trash. Hi, Somanath Behera 6368

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

By "permanently deleted" do you mean you emptied the "Bin" in the phone app or "Trash" on the desktop?
Then that becomes an irreversible action.

Regretfully, once the Bin is emptied, there is no way to recover the pictures through google photos.

However, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to not pick one that requires rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps;

Question: How do I delete photos from one account but not from the other?

I tried to delete photos from one of my accounts but it deleted it from my second account to. Also, one of my google account randomly started to back up picture with me shining in to google photos with it.

Answer:

@Mar
Working with two accounts always causes confusion and the app itself is confusing also.
Deleting in the Google Photos app always will delete on phone also because you see the same pictures.
And if the backupsetting is on account 1, the file also will be delete from account 1 at Google, but not from account 2.
And a fresh picture will get uploaded to account 1.
But if a picture is not present on phone anymore, you see the pictures in the account the app is logged-in.
If that is account 2, the picture in that account will get deleted, but also the picture in account 1 because that is set in the backup.
Conclusion: avoid two accounts.

I freed up space through google photos and it deleted photos and videos from my gallery. The photos and videos are there in Google photos but how can i get them back in my gallery?

Answer:

Hi, Sahitya Kaushik

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

By bringing back the photos to your gallery, you will be defeating the whole purpose of doing the exercise of freeing up the space.

To bring back the pics to your phone's gallery, either, you can download photos one by one. Regrettably, there is no option to do so on a batch of photos.

Alternatively, you can install the Google One app there is a one time option to restore up to two hundred most recent photos to the device.
However, the local folder structure can not be restored.
To do so, there is no requirement to join Google One, the option is available to everyone.
However, the method may not be effective to recover something when the count is more than two hundred.

Or, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/;
Select the Google Photos app for data download.
Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments into your phone's gallery.

That will bring everything to your phone.

Following is text from the official Google Photos Help page about deleting and restoring photos and videos:

Restore photos & videos
If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it’s there.
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  2. At the bottom, tap Library  Trash .
  3. Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
  4. At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
    • In your phone’s gallery app
    • In your Google Photos library
    • In any albums it was in
If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.
    Important:
    • If you delete a photo or video that’s backed up in Google Photos, it will stay in your trash for 60 days.
    • If you delete an item from your Android device without it being backed up, it will stay in your trash for 60 days.
    • If you see a photo or video in Google Photos that you think you deleted, it might be on a removable memory card. To delete it, use your device’s gallery app.
    Empty your trash
If you see a request to "Delete permanently" when you try to move an item to trash, your trash is full. Your trash can hold 1.5GB.

Important: If you empty your trash, you permanently delete any items in your trash.

Don't see the photo or video?
If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can’t restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:
    • You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
    • You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
    • You permanently deleted it from your trash.
    • You permanently deleted it from your device’s Gallery app, without backing it up first.
When you attempt to manually empty the trash bin in Google Photos, a warning message box appears that explains you are about to permanently delete those pictures and videos. If you choose to proceed anyway, there is nothing that any of the volunteers in this forum can do to help you recover your pictures.

The information on the following Google Photos Help pages will help you become more familiar with finding, deleting, and restoring your pictures:

If you deleted pictures or videos that were not previously backed up to your account through the Google Photos app, then unfortunately there's nothing that Google or any of the volunteers in this Help Community can do to recover them.

I have checked trash I want the person responsible yo be held accountable. They removed the video after I seen it pop up but it was on my account that the video was made. Please help me because they are threatening me as well

      Answer:

      john mills,

I'm sorry for what you're experiencing. Unfortunately, none of the volunteers in this forum have access to your account, photos, videos, or other personal information. If the video you describe is not in Google Photos, there's nothing anybody here can do to help you get it back.

Another thing, keep in mind that harassment, blackmail, and extortion are crimes. If someone accessed your account without consent, and subsequently attempted to harass, blackmail, or extort you, there are several criminal violations that have occurred, plus other actions that could constitute violations (depending, of course, on the laws in your location).

For example, accessing your account without permission often falls under the definition of "hacking" and could be a violation of several  federal laws, in addition to multiple state laws as well. Penalties are quite severe. You can find some additional information about computer crime statutes from the National Conference of State Legislatures

Simply put, there are quite a few serious crimes that may have been committed by the person who hacked into your account, threatened you, and violated your privacy.

My advice is to contact a lawyer or the police and seek professional help if you feel unsafe or threatened.

Additionally, I recommend these steps for securing your Google account and data:
      - do a security checkup of your account
      - do a privacy checkup of your account
      - change your Google account password
      - enable 2-step verification
      - review your Google Play order history for suspicious activity; report unauthorized charges HERE

      Charles,

To make those kinds of edits to a video file you need a fully functional comprehensive multimedia editor. Depending on the severity of the sound issues you have with the video, that might require separating the audio and video so you can work on the audio in a dedicated editing program, then stitching it back together with the video.

Unfortunately, the Google Photos app is not designed for this type of intensive task. You will have to search the Play Store for a suitable video or multimedia editing app that meets your needs.

Up to 31st May 2021, unlimited storage of photos in High-quality format. No need to guess GB.
However, every photo upload after 31st May will occupy space on Google drive, shared with Gmail & Documents.
Even then you can continue to upload till you reach the free quota of 15 GB.
Once full, you may lose access unless you remove something or buy additional space.

Question: I have delete my photos how can I recover images

How to recover my images file

      min bahadur,

Files that existed only on your phone, ones that were never uploaded to the cloud, cannot be recovered or restored by a cloud storage service. Simply put, Google can't help you recover files it never had in the first place

Is there any way to initiate a "thorough face recognition"?
I backed up my phone to google photo, and it recognised my parents, myself and friends. This is good.
I am recently uploading some old album, and I found it cannot recognise my grandparents and other relatives.

So, I want to initiate a thorough face recognition among all photos among all my photos.

        Answer:

        Hi, s l 7065

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

The best way to refresh the face recognition feature is to deactivate that first & reactivate once again.
However, while doing so, I suggest you go through all the steps mentioned below. That will eliminate any possibility of the cached data not reflecting any update.
        • Deactivate the "Group similar faces" option first.
        • Next, tap Apps and notifications.
        • Tap Show all apps.
        • Tap Google Photos.
        • Tap Storage and cache.
        • Tap Clear storage.
        • Next, uninstall the Google Photos app.
        • Power off the phone & then restart.
        • Install the latest version of the Google Photos app through the Play Store.
        • Log into your profile & reactivate the "Group similar faces" feature
The app may take six to eight hours to bring back the peoples tab.

        Answer:

From what I have read on this forum I would be reluctant to turn Face Grouping OFF and ON again. In fact the whole process has to start again and you may be lucky or you may loose what you already had and get less instead.  But having said this: I have no better answer ... the whole process happens on Google's servers and I doubt that there is anything you can do but take the risk.

Deleted Photos are stored in Trash for up to 60 days, if you delete Photos again from trash, that's two times deletion.

Unfortunately, once Photos are deleted from trash there is no way to retrieve them back :(

        Hi, Ankitsinh Vadher

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

The free up space option removes the pictures from the device but retains those in Google Photos.
Are you not finding anything in Google Photos?
If yes, then do you wish to bring back those to your phone?
        Can you please reply?

        Answer:

        Hi,  Ankitsinh Vadher

        Thanks for your reply

If you can tell correctly the steps you used to free up the steps, that will be useful to tell the right solution.

Did you free up the space using the option in Google Photos?
Or, did you delete the photos using some gallery app or file explorer app?
That will help in knowing the problem better.
