However, If you have deleted the pics through Google Photos, any deleted picture is retained in the bin for sixty days.
 
If your delete action is recent, you will find all the items in the bin. The bin icon becomes visible in the library view. Tap that & recover everything available in the bin.
 
However, if your delete action has already crossed sixty days, or you have emptied the bin inadvertently, there is no way to recover anything through Google Photos.

When I've updated or corrected metadata in my offline files, I would like to make the same change to my online Google Photos.  Currently can simply upload the edited photo but Google Photos sees a metadata change as a new photo and as of June 1, any new photo costs storage.  

Can we upload json files to Google Photos to update metadata?

Can rclone or other third party API-drive app manipulate the metadata?

By the way, I create searchable metadata by:  
 - Place my offline photos into folders, 
 - Use ExifTool to add the path to the description (tag XMP-dc:Description)

Then searching for any folder name will return the photos in that folder.  This saves having to recreate albums, although I do upload new photos to particular albums, Google Photos has no sub-albums, so this enables me to access my folder structure in Google Photos.

Of course, I also use ExifTool to correct dates and add other metadata fields that Google Photos reads.

You have the wrong idea about the photos app, it does not contain any photos, just acts as a portal to view the photos you see in the files app.  The files app simply ‘sees’ the photos I saved by your camera.
 
With Backup enabled, see Back up photos & videos - Android - Tap here photos are uploaded to the web allowing you to delete the device copy if that is the result you are looking for. When you delete device copies they will no longer be available in your gallery.

To bring back the pics to your phone's gallery, either, you can download photos one by one. Regrettably, there is no option to do so on a batch of photos.

To do so, there is no requirement to join Google One, the option is available to everyone.
However, the method may not be effective to recover something when the count is more than two hundred.

How can I get it to refresh the people & pet's recognition? I added a lot of photos but it isn't recognizing any of them. I did turn off and back on the face grouping, etc. but it won't refresh & try again. Any idea how to at least kick that off?

Hi Sherri

Face grouping is done dynamically by the system. Toggling it on and off won't instantly rebuild the data base and may take some time for the system to regroup faces.

Make sure you continue to take pictures of pets and people together that are in your groupings. My experience is that newer photos can trigger actions vs waiting for historical data to be rebuilt. I've no inside knowledge this is how the app works, but it's been my experience.

Also make sure you have the settings on correctly:

1. Go to Photos 
2. Open left menu
3. Open Settings
4. Open Group Similar Faces
5. Toggle on (dot will turn blue) the option to Show Pets with People

Also, check that faces aren't hidden.

1. Go to Photos
2. Go to search field
3. Select the People section
4. In the : menu, select Hide and Show People

Double check that none of the expected faces are hidden. (They will appear grey). If so, tap the image to make it 'show' (it will not be greyed out) and then select Done.

That is a very complex question because there is no Google service which can do the transfer to your personal account while retaining your beautiful albums. 

Expert Peter is able to inform you about a service named Multcloud which maybe capable to retain the albums (titles + pictures), but I am afraid about your textbanners between the pictures. And because of the amount, you may need to pay for that service temporarily, but also for your personal account eternally. 

So have some patience - it is in the middle of the night in Brittain now.

My question is, do i get 200GB in every monthly pay? Seems like i paid monthly basis but my account shows i already used 200GB and backup is stopped. Waiting for your response.

You have rented a big box and pay a monthly fee- you can fill it with 200 GB of stuff or leave it empty. but it will cost you the same every month.
 
You do NOT get another 200 GB the next month unless you buy another 200GB.

Before the big storage change on Google I backed up my phone to Google Photos to free up space. It said my Photos were backed up and safe to free up from my device. 
I double checked 20x AND did single photo tests as I'm hesitant about the "cloud".

I deleted the photos from my device, as given the go ahead and now they're also gone from what is supposed to have a backed up safe source, in Goggle Photos. 
I'm beyond words with grief.

When my wife and I travel and create albums, it really doesn't matter who clicks which photo. We create an album together, but then it is a pain while editing or adding description later because only the so called owner of each photo can do the same. Like how we share a Google doc so that everyone can edit, is there a way to share album also so that both of us can manage all the photos irrespective of who uploaded them?

That is not possible - then you both should use the same-account - apart from personal Gmail and Drive (for docs etc.). On phone the app can backup to account A and be logged-in to account A for viewing. 
Amd on site you simply can open photos.google.com to account A for uploading and viewing. 
That seems the most comfortable solution to me. 

PS: also the Backup & Sync app on pc can be logged-in to the same account, but then part of the folderstructure on both individual computers should be identical. But in fact this app is not handy, because in the site on browser you immediately can assign a new upload to some album manually.
