Trump news on Youtube Nov 9 2018

A U.S. appeals court ruled Thursday that President Donald Trump cannot immediately end an Obama-era program shielding young immigrants from deportation

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals kept in place a preliminary injunction blocking Trump's decision to phase out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program

Lawsuits by California and others challenging the administration's decision will continue in federal court while the injunction remains in place

DACA has protected some 700,000 people who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children or came with families that overstayed visas

The Trump administration has said it moved to end the program last year because Texas and other states threatened to sue, raising the prospect of a chaotic end to DACA

The decision prompted lawsuits across the nation, including one by California. A judge overseeing that lawsuit and four others ruled against the administration and reinstated the program in January

U.S. District Judge William Alsup rejected the argument that then-President Barack Obama had exceeded his power in creating DACA and said the Trump administration failed to consider the disruption that ending the program would cause

The Trump administration then asked the 9th Circuit to throw out Alsup's ruling.During a hearing in May, Deputy Assistant Attorney General Hashim Mooppan argued that the courts could not review the administration's decision to end DACA and defended the move against assertions that it was arbitrary and capricious

'It's a question of an agency saying, 'We're not going to have a policy that might well be illegal,'' Mooppan told the judges

'That is a perfectly rational thing to do.' Share this article Share Mooppan said the administration was under no obligation to consider the fact that people had come to rely on DACA

The judges on the 9th Circuit panel appeared skeptical of the argument that the DACA decision was beyond the court's authority to review

Judge Kim Wardlaw noted at the hearing that another appeals court had reviewed a similar Obama administration immigration policy

Judge Jacqueline Nguyen questioned whether courts could intervene if they thought DACA was legal and disagreed with the administration's position that it wasn't

The administration has been critical of the 9th Circuit and took the unusual step of trying to sidestep it and have the California DACA cases heard directly by the U

S. Supreme Court. The high court in February declined to do so.Federal judges in New York and Washington also have ruled against Trump on DACA

President Trump Dumps 'Lame Duck' Attorney General Jeff Sessions - Duration: 10:25.

President Trump accepted the resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Wednesday,

after the embattled AG repeatedly failed to prosecute Hillary Clinton for her crimes and

has allowed the Mueller witch-hunt to continue under his watch.

"We are pleased to announce that Matthew G. Whitaker, Chief of Staff to Attorney General

Jeff Sessions at the Department of Justice, will become our new Acting Attorney General

of the United States.

He will serve our Country well," President Trump tweeted on Wednesday morning.

"…We thank Attorney General Jeff Sessions for his service, and wish him well!

A permanent replacement will be nominated at a later date."

Sessions' firing should come as no surprise.

For over two years, Sessions has been criticized by the President for allowing the rigged Russia

hunt to continue under his watch, headed by dirty cop Robert Mueller.

In August, Trump accused Sessions of being "scared stiff" and "missing in action"

in a series of tweets questioning Sessions' lack of action.

President Trump has also repeatedly called on Sessions to investigate the ongoing scandals

surrounding the Clinton's, the DNC, the FBI, and the phoney Russian dossier.

Npr.org reports: The seeds of Sessions' departure were planted, ironically, during

his confirmation hearing.

Sessions went out of his way to deny meeting with Russians in the course of the 2016 presidential

campaign.

His former colleagues in the Senate approved the nomination 52 to 47, despite concerns

about allegations of racial insensitivity and hostility to civil rights in his past.

But Sessions soon ran into trouble.

He was forced to correct his Senate testimony, to indicate he had, in fact, met with the

Russian ambassador at least twice in 2016.

Democrats on Capitol Hill accused him of making false statements.

The disclosure provoked intense public scrutiny of his actions.

By March of 2017, Sessions fielded questions almost daily about whether he could oversee

the ongoing Department of Justice investigation into Russian interference in the election,

given his vocal role in the campaign, in which he even donned a "Make America Great Again"

hat to support Donald Trump.

Ultimately, after consulting with DOJ ethics officials, Sessions recused himself from the

Russia probe.

He cited longstanding rules regarding conflicts that arise when authorities investigate campaigns

in which they participate.

The recusal decision was hailed by Democrats and good government groups.

The president had a different reaction.

Two sources familiar with the situation have told NPR President Trump raged, sometimes

profanely, in phone and face-to-face conversations with Sessions.

It didn't take long for Trump to voice open regret, on social media an in interviews,

about having nominated Sessions.

The president grew even more antagonistic when Sessions' deputy, Rod Rosenstein, appointed

a special counsel to lead the Russia investigation after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey.

Trump called the DOJ Russia probe a "witch hunt" and cast aspersions on its leader,

former FBI Director Robert Mueller, a registered Republican.

Trump's allies produced an ad attacking Mueller's team for donating to Democratic

political campaigns.

All the while, Sessions ducked questions on the matter, given his recusal.

But as Mueller hired more than two dozen staff members and prosecutors, with experience in

corporate fraud, money laundering, organized crime and executive privilege, Trump exploded.

He denigrated Sessions, Rosenstein, Mueller and the entire post-Watergate practice of

law enforcement independence from the White House in an interview with the New York Times.

"Sessions should have never recused himself, and if he was going to recuse himself, he

should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else,"

Trump said.

Former Justice Department veterans said those remarks reflected a deep misunderstanding

of the culture at the Justice Department and the FBI — which try to insulate their work

from politics — and a sense that Trump was acknowledging he wanted his attorney general

to protect him in the Russia investigation, not get to the bottom of the matter.

The issue gnawed at Trump, who days later issued a series of early morning tweets on

July 22, 2017, wondering why Democrat Hillary Clinton and Comey were not under investigation

for unspecified offenses.

He repeated the question on July 24, 2017, referring to Sessions as "our beleaguered

A.G."

The political establishment in Washington, D.C., began wondering aloud how long Sessions

could keep his job.

At first, former colleagues in the Senate mobilized and came to his aid, defending his

integrity.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told reporters, "If Jeff Sessions is fired, there will be

holy hell to pay."

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, who leads the Senate Judiciary Committee, tweeted "no

way" would he hold confirmation hearings for a new attorney general in 2017.

For his part, Sessions told Tucker Carlson of Fox News that the barbs from Trump had

been "hurtful" but that he served at the pleasure of the president.

Attorney general of everything else

Sessions kept working.

He flew to El Salvador for a series of anti-gang meetings in late July 2017.

There, the attorney general told graduates of a law enforcement academy that he was "blessed"

to serve as the highest justice official in the United States.

"It is an honor I never expected nor one I ever would have thought possible," Sessions

said.

"And while there are good days and bad days in any job, one thing has been clear to me,

it is a privilege to serve one's country in law enforcement to wake up each morning

and fight the fight for the rule of law."

And Sessions continued to set the broad priorities of the Justice Department, including a crackdown

on illegal immigration and support for cases of religious liberty — although those priorities

sometimes came into conflict.

His boss, Trump, appeared to have less respect for the legal system.

After the special counsel unsealed indictments against his onetime campaign chairman, Paul

Manafort, and Manafort deputy Richard Gates on Oct. 30, 2017, Trump insisted there was

"no collusion" with Russia and reiterated his view that the investigation was a waste

of time.

In early November 2017, Trump told reporters, "a lot of people are disappointed in the

Justice Department, including me."

He said he was "frustrated" he could not direct DOJ or the FBI to take action in specific

cases, remarks that Justice Department veterans consider a serious breach.

At the same time, questions about Sessions' conduct during the campaign resurfaced after

a guilty plea by onetime foreign policy aide George Papadopoulos.

Papadopoulos told prosecutors that he tried to set up a meeting between Trump and Russian

President Vladimir Putin during the campaign, and that he mentioned it at a March 2016 meeting

attended by both Trump and Sessions.

"These facts appear to contradict your sworn testimony on several occasions," Democrats

on the House Judiciary Committee pointed out in a letter to the attorney general.

Sessions would get another chance on Capitol Hill to explain what he did in 2016 and how

it related to Russia.

In essence, he argued, he had a memory lapse, and recent news accounts of the Papadopoulos

plea refreshed his recollection.

"I have always told the truth, and I have answered every question as I understood them

and to the best of my recollection," the attorney general told lawmakers at a hearing

on Nov. 14, 2017.

"But I will not accept and reject accusations that I have ever lied under oath.

That is a lie."

Sessions's lawyer confirmed that in early 2018, the attorney general voluntarily sat

for an extended interview with special counsel investigators, as a witness in the probe into

possible obstruction of justice by the president.

Trump later said he was "not concerned" about that interview.

To the dismay of former Justice Department leaders, Sessions mostly remained silent in

late 2017 as the president attacked the DOJ as a "Deep State" and tweeted the FBI's

reputation was "in Tatters."

And, though he seemed to take action by reportedly directing federal prosecutors and FBI agents

to look into Trump's political opponent Hillary Clinton, her email practices and the

Clinton Foundation, that wasn't enough for conservative members of his own party.

Two members of the House Freedom Caucus wrote in early 2018 that "it would appear [Sessions]

has no control at all of the premier law enforcement agency in the world."

The two conservative House Republicans also suggested even then that it was time for Sessions

to go.

Time marches on

Still, the Justice Department moved ahead.

Following the guilty plea by Trump lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen, and the conviction

of the president's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort on the same day in August, Trump

lashed out at Sessions, telling Fox News that the attorney general had never taken control

of the Justice Department.

The president added that Sessions only had the plum job because of Sessions's loyalty

during the campaign.

But in a rare defense of himself and his department, Sessions issued a public statement.

"I took control of the Department of Justice the day I was sworn in, which is why we have

had unprecedented success at effectuating the President's agenda—one that protects

the safety and security and rights of the American people, reduces violent crime, enforces

our immigration laws, promotes economic growth, and advances religious liberty," Sessions

said.

So long as he was attorney general, Sessions added, the Justice Department "will not

be improperly influenced by political considerations."

Sessions said he was proud of law enforcement officials and agents, whom he described as

the best in the world.

Trump Just Made A Massive Move Against Mueller The Day After Losing The House Of Representatives - Duration: 2:32.

In a stunning turn of events, President Donald Trump abruptly demanded Attorney General Jeff

Sessions resign the morning after the midterm elections, finally making his move against

the man who ultimately failed to fulfill what the President saw as his purpose — protecting

Trump and his team from the consequences of their meddling in the 2016 election and their

alleged collusion with agents of the Russian Federation.

The firing of Sessions paves the way for Trump to appoint a new Attorney General willing

to lick his boots and obey his orders — like Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), for instance — which

would then open the door for the firing of Special Counsel Robert Mueller and the suppression

of the results of his two-year-long investigation into the Donald Trump campaign and administration.

The president has long resented Jeff Sessions for recusing himself from the Trump-Russia

investigation in March 2017 after evidence of his secret meetings with Russian Ambassador

Sergey Kislayak became public knowledge.

"I put in an attorney general who never took control of the Justice Department.

Jeff Sessions, never took control of the Justice Department.

It's sort of an incredible thing," complained Trump in an interview with FOX and Friends'

Ainsley Earhardt.

"Jeff Sessions recused himself, which he shouldn't have done or he should have told

me.

Even my enemies say that Jeff Sessions should have told you that he was going to recuse

himself and then you wouldn't have put him in.

He took my job, and then he said, 'I'm going to recuse myself.'

I said, 'What kind of man is this?'"

Sessions, a notorious white supremacist, knew that his failure to recuse himself would interfere

with his real goal — to use the Justice Department to escalate the "War on Drugs"

and impose his racist agenda on an unwilling populace.

Seeing as Mueller was rumored to be presenting the results of his investigation to the Justice

Department as soon as this afternoon, it's no surprise that Trump is wasting no time

before making his move.

His appalling behavior at this morning's press conference, the reports that the President's

son is likely facing indictment, and the speed at which he's moving indicates that Trump

is terrified about what Mueller is about to do — and makes him appear all the more guilty.

Trump Set to Sign Executive Order Overhauling U.S. Asylum Policy - Duration: 2:49.

New reports coming from the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday indicate that President Trump

will likely sign a new executive order during the week, which will be designed to overhaul

the existing US policy on asylum seekers.

The order is expected to be signed by Friday, according to sources within the White House,

and comes in response to the ongoing saga surrounding the caravans of Central American

migrants heading towards the US border through Mexico.

Last week, the president announced that he was "finalizing a plan" to combat the

continued attempts at illegal immigrants entering the country under the guise of being "asylum

seekers," and would require all seeking asylum to report to ports of entry.

"Under this plan, the illegal aliens will no longer get a free pass into the country

by lodging meritless claims in seeking asylum," Trump said during a speech last week, calling

out countries who failed to prevent the migrants during their march.

With the president departing for Paris, France, on Friday, White House officials reported

the executive order would likely be signed that morning.

Late October, appearing on the Laura Ingraham show, President Trump warned Asylum seekers

that make it to the U.S. border that he won't be building fancy 5 star accommodations for

them.

Instead, they will be staying in a "tent city" while their trials take place.

In addition, he expects very few would actually be granted asylum and clarified "if they

don't get asylum they get out…they don't usually get asylum."

As a consolation, Trump promised the tents are "going to be very nice."

From The Hill:

President Trump is expected to sign an executive order this week that would revamp U.S. policy

on asylum seekers by requiring them to go to ports of entry to apply for asylum, the

Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.

Trump could sign the order as soon as Friday morning before he leaves for Paris for a scheduled

trip, the Journal reported, citing administration officials.

Those officials also told the newspaper that the plan is for the policy to be temporary,

but they didn't provide a specific timeline.

The president said his policy would be "totally legal" even though current law allows immigrants

to seek asylum even if they don't come into the country via a port of entry.

He also said last week that the policy would be implemented through an executive order

by this week.

"Under this plan, the illegal aliens will no longer get a free pass into the country

by lodging meritless claims in seeking asylum," Trump said during a speech from the White

House.

Latin Comic Legend Paul Rodriguez Comes Out as a Trump Supporter! - Duration: 2:19.

Latin Comic legend Paul Rodriguez has come out as a Trump supporter in a new TMZ candid

video.

During an interview with TMZ at the airport, Rodriguez admitted that, even though Trump

says some things "the wrong way," he still supports him, but he prefers to keep politics

out of his comedy act.

Rodriquez went on to say, that he is an immigrant to this country, and that his parents came

here legally.

"I'm an immigrant myself.

My parents came in the right way.

They stood in line for days."

From Yahoo

As for which of Trump's policies resonates with him most, he said, "America should

protect its borders, you know?

I know a lot of Mexican-Americans are going to disagree with me.

It's not that I don't care about the people who obviously want to immigrate to this country,

but you can't let everybody in.

I'm an immigrant myself.

My parents came in the right way.

They stood in line for days."

He continued: "That's very rare to find a Mexican-American who's a Republican.

At least people can look at me and know that it's not that I don't love this country.

I'm an immigrant.

I love this country."

Rodriguez said he was expecting backlash over his comments.

"It's a terrible thing for me to say this," he admitted.

"I will pay the price for it, but as long as we're able to speak our minds, I think

I should have the right to be wrong in your opinion."

And while he also said that "any entertainer shouldn't get into politics because half

of the audience is going to hate you," he broke his own rule — and his most Instagram

was subsequently filled with hate comments about Trump.

For instance:

"Please tell me you aren't a trump supporter?

If so time to unfollow."

"One thing is being republican but another thing is being a trump supporter, I truly

hope you're not a trump supporter or you lost a fan."

"F*** Donald Trump!!!

& F*** YOU TOO!!"

Although Rodriguez is a Trump supporter, he said his vote in 2020 isn't set.

If Trump "says one more thing," then the comedian said he is "really going to change"

his vote.

Trump Considers Chris Christie for Attorney General - Duration: 4:14.

-Let's get to some news here, guys.

After firing Attorney General Jeff Sessions,

I read that President Trump might replace him

with Chris Christie.

[ Audience oohs ]

Christie was so excited,

he tore his apron off at Jersey Mike's

and yelled, "I quit!"

[ Laughter and applause ]

"I'm ready! Let's go! Enough!"

[ Applause continues ]

That's right -- Trump might replace Jeff Sessions

with Chris Christie.

Apparently, Trump was like,

"The elf didn't work -- let's try Santa."

[ Laughter and applause ]

Oh, get this.

People here in New York can't stop talking

about a rare Mandarin duck

that showed up in Central Park a few days ago.

You hear what I'm talking about? Can we take a look at that duck?

Look at this. Oh, my. [ Audience ohs ]

-Ooh! -Ow!

-That is -- That duck is beautiful.

[ Laughter ] Wow!

Uh, s-sorry, guys. Just one second.

I got to do something real quick.

[ Slow music plays ]

What up, duck? [ Laughter ]

Couldn't help but notice you there in the pond.

I just want to say I like your style.

[ Laughter ] Yeah, I new you're new in town

and probably haven't made a lot of friends yet,

so if you ever want to just chill and do duck stuff,

give me a quack. [ Laughter ]

I could come up to the park and sit on the bench

while you just kind of float there.

And maybe I could pick up a loaf of bread

and tear it into little pieces and throw it at you to eat...

if you're into that sort of thing.

[ Laughter ] I-I...

I can tell that you're not like all the other ducks.

[ Light laughter ] And...

you may have a mysterious past, but you've got the look.

[ Laughter ]

So I know this is probably going to come out all wrong,

but I just wanted to say...

[ Quack ]

[ Laughter and applause ]

[ Applause continues ]

-Whoo-hoo!

-Guys, listen to this --

a woman in Australia just gave birth to a 12-pound baby...

[ Audience murmuring ]

...without any pain meds.

[ Audience groans ]

Her doctor said, "You were amazing,"

while the baby was like,

"I am never gonna hear the end of this."

[ Laughter and applause ] "This is -- I mean,

This is my story now." [ Applause continues ]

Guys, I'm getting an update from an earlier story.

I'm not sure if you've heard this,

but there's a rare Mandarin duck in Central Park, and...

[ Laughter ]

...it turns out the duck has gone missing.

-[ Gasps ] [ Audience ohhs ]

-Oh, my God, I'm sorry, guys. One -- One sec.

[ Slow music plays ] [ Laughter ]

What up, duck?

[ Laughter ]

Classic you. [ Laughter ]

Even when you're on the run, you got the whole city talking.

[ Laughter ]

You don't have to explain yourself.

You're wild, and you were meant to fly free.

And I-I know it's getting cold,

and you're -- you're probably flying

somewhere warmer right now,

as I send this message through the airwaves,

but...I'll never forget you.

And I hope you don't forget me.

And, hey, no matter what this crazy world throws your way,

always remember...

[ Quack ]

[ Laughter and applause ]

[ Applause continues ]

Hey, guys, I saw that

"The Grinch" is in theaters this weekend.

I'm excited to have "The Grinch."

[ Cheers and applause ]

And -- And get this -- they just added an emotional new scene

where Jeff Sessions reunites with his family in Whoville.

-Aw! -Yeah, it's really good.

[ Laughter and applause ]

Finally, you guys,

it's time for "Tonight Show News Blenders."

This is where we take real headlines

and blend them together

to see how much weirder we can make them.

I'll show you what I mean.

For example, if you blend the stories

"Fans Upset After 'Dancing with the Stars' Elimination,"

"Trump Fires Jeff Sessions, Quickly Shuffles Staff,"

and "Truffle Season Doing Well"...

you get,

"Trump Quickly Eliminated from 'Dancing with the Stars'

After Doing the Truffle Shuffle."

[ Laughter and applause ]

See? -Yeah, I get it.

[ Applause continues ]

-Next up, if you blend the stories

"Under Armour Staff Uses Company Credit Card at Strip Club"...

[ Laughter ]

..."Ted Cruz Warns of Visit from Illegal Aliens,"

and "Pop-up Shops Teach Farm-to-table Cooking,"

you get

"Ted Cruz Visits Alien Strip Club,

Pops Up Under Table."

[ Laughter and applause ]

[ Applause continues ]

And here's the last one -- if you blend the stories

"Guys Mow 'FU45' into Lawn,"

"Joe Biden Emerges From Voting Booth, Goes Viral in Minutes,"

and "Bill Gates Says

Toilets Have Chilling Effect on Environment,"

you get,

"After 45 Minutes, Joe Biden Emerges From Toilet,

Says, 'FU, Chili's.'"

[ Laughter and applause ] That's some wild stories.

Guys, we have a great show tonight.

Give it up for The Roots! -Let's go, man!

David Remnick Explains Why Impeaching Trump Could Backfire on Democrats - Duration: 4:47.

-So, you wrote a couple weeks ago

about how this election would be a referendum on Trump.

You wrote afterwards that this wasn't quite a blue wave,

but that it will have repercussions

for Trump moving forward.

What is -- A couple more days have passed,

and more seats than we thought have gone to Democrats

in the last couple of days. -Yeah.

-I think since you first wrote that.

-Right.

-Does it feel more like a wave now?

And how do you think Trump is feeling?

-It's like blue crush.

It's not like one of those huge tidal waves.

-Yeah. It's like a Hudson River lapping.

-Yeah. [ Laughter ]

Right up against, you know, the 79th Street pier

or something like that. -Yeah.

-But the big thing that happened

is the House of Representatives goes to the Democrats.

And that causes the chairman and the chairpeople

of all the committees to be Democrats

as opposed to Republicans, and when they were Republicans,

somebody like Devin Nunes was acting less

as an investigator of the President

and his committee as the president's personal attorney.

-Yes. -Which was a problem.

-It was a problem, sure.

-And so now you have all this investigated heat

likely to come down on the President,

which will -- let's face it -- it's gonna cause a real storm.

Because even on a good day, even on his best day...

[ Laughter ]

...the President is capable of behavior,

well, like what you were showing on the film.

-Yes. [ Laughter ]

-And now that he's gonna be quite possibly in a corner,

whether it's possibly his son might get indicted,

thanks to Robert Mueller,

or something might happen to him

or they'll look into his finances,

he's apoplectic about this.

So within 8 1/2 seconds, 8 1/2 -- maybe 8 3/4 seconds

after the election, what you had was the President

giving a press conference that was unhinged.

And he fired the attorney general, as expected,

but replaced him with a guy that is just gonna do his bidding.

So this is a recipe for disaster.

-I know you're not in the prediction game,

but what do you think is going to happen

with Mueller going forward?

Do you think -- Because there was this theory out there

that Mueller was out of, you know, established courtesies

laying off doing anything in the run-up to the election.

Now that the election is over,

do you think we're gonna see a deluge of stuff from him?

-I don't know what the deluge is going to be,

but there's obviously gonna be some action.

One thing you can say about Robert Mueller,

even though he's kept his counsel so tightly,

he's not an idiot.

-Yeah.

-And so he knows that the attorney general

is gonna get fired.

He knows the attorney general was not gonna be replaced by,

you know, Justice Brandeis or something --

you know something right-thinking and just.

I think he could have predicted this outcome.

So I think you can expect some action out of his office,

and I think he was holding it pretty tight close to his chest.

And it's gonna be a big drama.

And I think it's gonna be a drama on the level of its kind

like I experienced as, you know, as a kid, Watergate.

-Yeah. -In some form or another.

And it's -- One thing you can be sure of, Seth,

and this is the great tragedy here,

to be very serious about it,

is that we face enormous problems in this country.

We face, you know, a climate-change problem

that we can't even get our heads around

and we're going to do nothing about it

for the next year.

And then we're gonna be in the -- if it gets this far,

we're gonna be in a presidential campaign

and do nothing for another year

and it's not just climate change.

It has to do with all kinds of criminal-justice issues.

Has to do with all the things we face.

Nothing's gonna get done unless the Democrats

at least make an issue out of it

because nothing's going to come out of the president's office.

-I want to ask about this. You mentioned the Democrats.

It did seem they were more successful in this election

because they didn't make it as much about Trump.

They tried to stick with issues.

they tried to talk about healthcare.

-That's right.

-Do you think now they might fall into a trap

because they have this little bit of power?

-It's a problem. -Yeah.

-I mean, it's a tough choice.

And a lot of people in Congress, leadership certainly,

are very wary, for example, of impeachment

because they remember in 1998, of course,

Republicans impeached Bill Clinton,

and Bill Clinton's popularity shot through the roof.

That's a problem.

So, you know, what can actually help Donald Trump be re-elected?

As you probably know,

the migrant caravan coming from Central America

is now just a few short 700 miles

from the United States border.

And the welcoming committee is on the way to meet them.

Tonight a show of force with migrant caravans

at least 700 miles away.

The first wave of U.S. troops arrives at the Texas border,

creating barriers, putting up barbed wire and fencing,

an effort to keep migrants out.

WOMAN: There are reports this border deployment

could cost upwards of $200 million

by the end of the year.

$200 million?

For that money, you realize

you could fly the entire caravan first class to Scandinavia.

(laughter)

Which, by the way, would be a lot more entertaining to watch.

Yeah, 'cause then you'd see

what those other countries are really about.

It would be like, "America,

"the way you treat the needy is so heartless.

"Why can't you just...? What? They're coming here?

"Wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait, wait.

Oh, that's not gonna work with. No, yeah."

Yeah, we'll find out the Swedish word for "wall."

Uh, now don't forget. Don't forget.

Um, down on the Mexican border,

America already has the Border Patrol, the National Guard.

And you've got Space Force. Don't forget that.

So, you don't really need the army there.

But Trump will find an excuse to use the troops for anything.

You know, next thing you know, he'll be like,

"This table is so wobbly, folks.

"Let's get a troop under that leg.

Thank you for your service! Great job!"

In other news,

President Trump today officially implemented new sanctions

on Iran, and this was to punish them

for upholding their end of the Iran nuclear deal.

And his announcement was something straight out

of an HBO show.

President Trump is facing backlash this morning

for a controversial tweet

promoting sanctions against Iran.

The president posted this picture yesterday morning

with the quote "Sanctions are Coming."

The picture and the text are a knockoff

of HBO's Game of Thrones,

and its slogan, "Winter Is Coming."

Now, in response, HBO tweeted,

"How do you say trademark misuse in Dothraki?"

-(laughter) -Is, uh...?

Is anyone taking politics seriously anymore?

Really? The president of the United States

is dropping Game of Thrones memes

for harsh, economic sanctions?

Like, you know what? Screw it.

He should do that for all of his policies from now on.

Just be like, "Better Call Wall."

And "America's Got Tax-Cuts."

Oh, and of course, his signature policy--

"Orange Hates the New Black.

-(laughter, groaning) -Also...

(cheers and applause)

Also, in international news,

there's a new tallest man in the world.

He's Indian, he's made of bronze,

and he's worth a fortune.

NEWSMAN: India has unveiled the world's tallest statue,

twice the size of the Statue of Liberty.

It honors freedom fighter Sardar Patel,

who's credited with bringing the country together

after India gained independence from Great Britain in 1947.

NEWSWOMAN: The state government says that it's 597 feel tall

and cost $403 million.

$400 million for a statue.

You realize for that amount of money you could fly the caravan

back from Sweden first-class

and then pay them to put up barbed wire to block themselves.

What are you doing, India? And here's the thing,

I'm not saying India shouldn't build statues,

but why not build one of, like, Gandhi, right?

He's also famous, and he was much skinnier, okay?

Yeah. They could have saved on materials.

Same height, half the cost.

Trump's Acting Attorney General Helped Run A Business That Defrauded Inventors - Duration: 3:04.

So Matthew Whitaker who is at present our Acting Attorney General after Donald Trump

kind of forced Jeff Sessions to resign.

We've already talked about the fact that Whitaker is a guy that wants to end the Mueller probe.

He has expressedly said so in an op ed, and actually laid out the blueprint for how he

would do it.

Everybody knows about that part though.

But what a lot of people may not know is that Whitaker is also a professional fraudster.

Last year, even before he joined Jeff Session's staff at the DOJ, an op ed ... Not an op ed,

an article came out explaining just what a fraud Matthew Whitaker truly is.

And here's what happened.

Whitaker sat on the Board of Directors, was getting paid on the Board of Directors of

a company called World Patent Marketing.

World Patent Marketing was one of those places that told inventors out there in the United

States send us your idea.

We're going to help you get patented; we're going to help you get marketing; we're going

to help you make this into the next billion-dollar idea here in the United States.

So thousands of wannabe inventors, wannabe, you know, innovators in the United States,

sent their ideas down to this company, paid them thousands of dollars while Whitaker was

sitting on the board and then they did nothing.

They pocketed these people's money, and they didn't do anything.

They did nothing that they promised.

And we know they did nothing that they promised because that's what came out from a Federal

Trade Commission lawsuit against this company.

So the federal government itself had to step in and sue this company that Whitaker was

on the Board of Directors of because they were scamming consumers.

They were scamming people with good ideas because they themselves didn't have any good

ideas and the only way they knew how to make money was to take advantage of people with

good ideas.

It actually gets even worse than just that.

While on the Board of Directors, there was one inventor who submitted a bad review of

the company to the Better Business Bureau.

Whitaker, on the Board of Directors, sent this guy a letter and said the following,

basically he threatened him.

He said, "I am assuming you understanding that there will be serious civil and criminal

consequences for you."

Understand that we take threats like this quite seriously.

He also used his weight as a former prosecutor to try to get this guy to take down his review

or retract it to the Better Business Bureau.

That's what happened.

Okay, the guy realized he got scammed.

Told the BBB and then Whitaker flies off the handle, sends him a letter threatening him

because he exposed what this company was actually doing.

And ladies and gentlemen, this is the man who as of right now and for the short-term

foreseeable future is going to be our Attorney General of the United States.

Trump Wall Section To Rise Soon In San Diego - Duration: 1:21.

The old border fence made of airfield landing plate is being torn down near

the Las Americas outlet stores in San Ysidro near San Diego, Ca.

The Border Patrol is going to build about 16.5 miles of border fence here

between the coast at Imperial Beach and Otay Mesa

Most of it is going to be bollard-style fence which is made of iron rails.

However, about 3-4 miles of it will use technology from a combination

of several of the Trump prototypes.

I believe this will be the first section to make use of the Trump design.

This barrier is going to cost about $153M.

Because the progressive politicians in Sacramento have threatened to boycott

any company that helps build the wall, no companies in California would bid on this job.

Due to that, this large contract went to a construction company in Texas

and California lost the opportunity to employ probably hundreds of workers,

especially in the South Bay area of San Diego County

where the unemployment rate is very high and the jobs are badly needed.

Mass Protests Planned After Trump Fires Jeff Sessions To Hinder Mueller Probe - Duration: 3:44.

Shortly after the mid-terms concluded, or at least most of the races concluded on Wednesday,

Donald Trump announced that Matthew Whitaker was going to be the new acting Attorney General

for the United States because he had asked Jeff Sessions to resign.

Now, Donald Trump has had beef against Jeff Sessions since the day that Jeff Sessions

recused himself from the Muller investigation.

In fact, that whole thing is the reason we even had to have a special prosecutor in the

first place, because Jeff Sessions couldn't and wouldn't do it.

Literally, the one good thing this man ever did in office, and he just paid for it with

his job.

Had he been corrupt as well, or least as corrupt as every other member of this administration

in the cabinet, he'd still have a job.

But again, decides to do one good thing in his life and then pays for it with the best

job he ever had.

But nonetheless, in response to the firing of Sessions, there are mass protests taking

place today at 5:00pm local time, depending on where your timezone is.

It's supposed to be 5:00pm across the board.

But these protests are not to mourn the loss of Jeff Sessions, no.

These protests are to protect Robert Muller and the office of the special prosecutor's

investigation into Donald Trump.

Because here's the thing, the reason Jeff Sessions had to go, again, is because he recused

himself and Donald Trump wants this investigation to go away.

He had repeatedly called on Sessions to end.

But, oh no, he's recused himself.

He's a coward.

He's weak.

He's harmful to this administration.

Donald Trump hated Jeff Sessions, because of that on decision, so he decided to get

rid of him, replaces him with Sessions' chief of staff, Matthew Whitaker, a guy who actually

wrote an op-ed explaining exactly how he would get rid of Robert Muller just a year and a

half ago.

And here is exactly what he'd do.

He wants to defund it.

He wants to pull all the money out of it, so that they can't go any further than they

already have.

There's nothing illegal about that, and there's certainly nothing that's gonna show the public

like, "Well, I didn't end it.

I just had to cut their funding because it's costing us so damn much money."

Something Donald Trump himself has been tweeting about.

So, they think they can use this as a better avenue to halt the investigation without,

technically, halting it.

Well, the good news is, I'm pretty sure you could find plenty of wealthy donors out there

willing to give some money to help this investigation continue.

I mean, after all, George Soros pays all the protestors, so I'm sure he could pay enough

to keep this investigation going.

I'm kidding about that, but that's just how silly republican conspiracy theories get.

But nonetheless, people are afraid right now and they have every right to be.

We are witnessing what many have called the slow motion Saturday night massacre, getting

rid of Jeff Sessions was just the first step.

And remember, the reason Rod Rosenstein was even in charge of that investigation was because

Session recused himself.

But now, Whitaker's in charge.

Rosenstein is no longer overseeing it, and Whitaker is going to have full control over

what happens from this point forward.

He should recuses himself, but he won't recuse himself.

Because he know if he does, that's the end of his job as well.

These protests are important.

These protests that are happening today show us that the American public is not going to

sit by while this administration continues to dismantle the rule of law in the United

States.

Trump Starts Lashing Out As He Grows More Depressed And Afraid - Duration: 3:22.

According to a new report by Vanity Fair's Gabriel Sherman, Donald Trump is feeling increasingly

depressed and angry.

And this depression/anger was on full display on Wednesday when he gave that disastrous

press conference, screamed at Jim Acosta, told another, I believe it was April Ryan,

told her that her question against him was racist, and not to mention his asking Jeff

Sessions to resign, his erratic behavior all through the day Wednesday was absolutely evidence

that Donald Trump is freaking out internally.

But we didn't even necessarily need all that evidence, because as Gabriel Sherman said,

those in the White House, the people that he's spoken to in the last 48 hours, are easily,

readily available to admit that yeah, Donald Trump is freaking out.

And it's because the Democrats took the House and because the walls are closing in with

the Mueller investigation.

And Trump's not only worried about himself, according to these White House sources that

spoke with Gabriel Sherman, he's also worried about Don Jr.

Because among the circles in the While House, and we had reported on this last week, they're

worried that Don Jr. is going to be the next domino to fall with the entire Mueller investigation,

along with Roger Stone.

There's much less concern about him among the Trump family because he doesn't share

the last name of Trump.

Now Don Jr.'s lawyer says that Don Jr.

Himself has never said that he's worried about going to prison or that he's the next one

to go down, blah, blah, blah.

But those in the White House say Don Jr. and Don Sr. know exactly what's coming.

They know that they cannot continue to hide and that's why we're seeing things like the

resignation of Jeff Sessions, the take-over of the DOJ by Matthew Whitaker, the erratic

behavior at that press conference where he was just lashing out and yelling and insulting

anyone who asked him a question.

Not only is this not normal behavior for a sitting US President, it's also just not normal

behavior.

I mean, we have to stop looking at what Trump is doing and saying, "This isn't Presidential."

We need to start saying, "This isn't how a rational human being operates."

Because that's what we're dealing with right now.

It's not just a difference of opinion.

It's a difference of morality and humanity at this point.

Donald Trump appears to be losing his mind over all of the bad things that are coming

his way, because he's been such a horrible human being.

Things are going to get much worse.

The firing of Jeff Sessions was the beginning, not the end, not the middle.

It's the beginning.

Over the next few days, expect more shoes to drop.

But as I've pointed out multiple times, Mueller has his bases covered.

He's farmed out a lot of the prosecutions.

There's a lot of sealed indictments that we do not yet know about, and there's little

that this administration can do to stop or even put the brakes on this entire investigation.

And I think Trump knows that and I think that's one of the biggest reasons he's freaking out

right now.

Trump Freaks Out After Democrats Win House: A Closer Look - Duration: 9:31.

President Trump is so freaked out

about Democrats winning back the House

that he's already moving

to hamstring the Russia investigation.

For more on this, it's time for "A Closer Look."

♪♪

The more results we get from Tuesday's elections,

the clearer it becomes that this was a blue wave

and a national repudiation of Trump's presidency.

Democrats had their biggest net gain in the House since Watergate,

they won the popular vote in the House by about 7 points,

and they won statewide races in key swing states

like Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

Or as Trump put it...

-The Republican Party defied history

to expand our Senate majority

while significantly beating expectations in the House

for the midtown and midterm year.

-Sorry. Did you say the "midtown year"?

Oh, okay. I see what's happening.

Trump thought it was the midtown election,

not the midterm election.

That's why he spent all his time campaigning

at the M&M's store with the Times Square Spider-Man.

[ Applause ]

[ As Pres. Trump ] "And tonight...

tonight I am happy to announce that Dirty Elmo

has been elected to the House of Representatives

at Bubba Gump Shrimp."

[ Laughter ]

So for a few hours -- for a few hours,

the big story was Democrats

massively outperforming Republicans in the House

and in swing states across the country,

which, of course, meant Trump had to do something crazy

to get the spotlight back, and that's what happened yesterday

when Trump lost his mind on national television in a press conference.

In fact, at one point, he got so mad

at a question about the Russia investigation

that he had to walk away from the podium.

-On the Russia investigation,

are you concerned that you may have --

-I'm not concerned about anything

with the Russia investigation, because it's a hoax.

-Are you -- -That's enough.

Put down the mic. -Mr. President, are you worried

about indictments coming down in this investigation?

[ Laughter ]

-Look at him.

President Ralph Kramden over there.

"One of these days...!"

But aside -- aside from his usual theatrics,

Trump's performance yesterday was deeply revealing

because it made it clear that he sees himself as above the law.

In fact, he can't even explain

how laws work or how they're made.

Listen to Trump ramble about how he can't pass tax cuts

because he doesn't have the votes in Congress.

-This will have to be now proposed

because if we did it now,

we don't have the votes in the Senate.

We would need 10 Democrat votes. We probably couldn't get them.

If we could, we could pass it very easily in the House,

but there's no reason to waste time

because you don't have the votes in the Senate.

So now we go into the Senate, we don't have the 10 votes.

And what happens? It doesn't get passed.

Even if it gets out of the House, it doesn't get passed.

-It's like watching an episode of "Schoolhouse Rock!"

if the bill overdosed on Ambien.

Now, one feature of our Constitutional system

is that Congress gets to constrain

the power of the president and investigate him.

And right after their victory in the House,

Democrats announced that they would use that power

to request Trump's tax returns,

which he has hidden from the public

despite the fact that presidents going back decades

have released theirs.

And when he was asked about that yesterday,

you could tell Trump was freaking out

from how much he rambled through his answer.

-Point blank, Democrats go after your tax returns.

Will you try to block that

or will you allow them to have them?

-Well, look, as I've told you, they're under audit.

They have been for a long time.

They're extremely complex. People wouldn't understand them.

They're done by among

the biggest and best law firms in the country.

Same thing with the accounting firms.

The accountants are a very, very large, powerful firm

from the standpoint of respect.

They're highly respected. Big firm.

But when you're under audit,

and I'm under very continuous audit

because there's so many companies

and it is a very big company,

far bigger than you would even understand.

But it's a great company.

But it's big, and it's complex, and it's probably feet high.

It's a very complex instrument,

and I think that people wouldn't understand it.

-In other words, yes, I have a girlfriend,

but she goes to another school, and the school is in Canada,

and also she died.

[ Laughter ]

Also, what do you mean people wouldn't understand it?

They're tax returns.

Trump sounds like a dad who doesn't know how to answer

a question from his 5-year-old.

"Dad, where does wind come from?"

"Uh, you wouldn't understand.

I definitely know the answer...

but you wouldn't understand."

Trump cannot abide any checks on his power

because he sees himself as above the law.

For him, laws aren't constraints.

They're weapons to be wielded against your opponents.

For example, he was asked what would happen

if Democrats exercised their Constitutional authority

to investigate him,

and he said that if they did that, he would consider it war.

-Are you offering

a "my way or highway" scenario to the Democrats?

You're saying that... -Negotiation. Not at all.

-...if they start investigating you,

that you can play that game and investigate them?

-Better than them. -Can you compartmentalize --

-And I think I know more than they know.

-Can you compartmentalize that and still continue to work

with them for the benefit of the rest of the country?

-No. -Or are all bets off?

-No, if they do that,

then it's just -- All it is, is a warlike posture.

-A warlike posture?

I'm sorry, but I wouldn't say posture is your strong suit.

[ Laughter ]

You look like someone let the air out of the Michelin Man.

In fact, Trump is so petty and vindictive

that he actually took time out of his press conference

to slam members of his own party who lost their re-election bids,

implying that they lost because they didn't support him enough.

-Candidates who embraced our message of low taxes,

low regulations, low crime,

strong borders, and great judges

excelled.

Barbara Comstock was another one.

I mean, I think she could have won that race,

but she didn't want to have any embrace.

Peter Roskam didn't want the embrace.

Erik Paulsen didn't want the embrace.

-Why does he keep calling it "the embrace"?

Sounds like a Mike Pence euphemism for sex.

[ Laughter ]

[ Cheers and applause ]

"Once a, uh...

Once a year, on my birthday, we engage in...the embrace."

[ Laughter ]

It's like a "Seinfeld" episode where George Costanza

complains that he went in for a hug on a date and got rejected.

"I didn't get the embrace, Jerry!"

"No embrace?" "She de-embraced!"

"Looks like you'll have to embrace...yourself."

[ "Seinfeld" bumper music plays ]

[ Cheers and applause ]

It's so much like a "Seinfeld" episode,

Trump is even doing the Babu finger now.

-You are a rude, terrible person.

-He's a very bad man.

-And it's not just his petty score settling.

Trump's vindictiveness was very much on display

with his power grab at the Justice Department

and his decision to fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

In that press conference, reporters tried to ask Trump

how he would approach the Russia investigation

now that the midterms are over

and whether he would try to install a new attorney general.

But Trump, who spent the entire press conference

rambling and yelling at people, was suspiciously coy.

-Can you give us clarity, sir,

on your thinking currently now after the midterms

about your attorney general and your deputy attorney general?

Do they have long-term job security?

-I'd rather answer that at a little bit different time.

-You can say yes or no,

but saying, "I'd like to answer that later,"

is the most suspicious answer you can give.

If you get pulled over,

and your answer to, "Have you been drinking?"

is, "Let me get back to you,"

it's breathalyzer time.

Of course, it turned out that Trump had already decided

to fire Sessions, although he refused to do it himself.

-Jeff Sessions was fired.

He wrote a letter today saying

that he was resigning at the request of the President.

-The President, who became famous

for the phrase "You're Fired,"

punting to his chief of staff to give Sessions the boot.

John Kelly didn't even do it face-to-face,

but opted to fire Sessions by phone.

-These guys are such cowards.

Trump didn't want to fire Sessions himself,

so he had Kelly do it, and Kelly didn't want to do it, either,

so he just called him.

I'm surprised they didn't just send Stephen Miller

to perch on Sessions' window sill.

"Caw! You're fired! Caw!"

[ Laughter ]

With Democrats regaining power in Washington,

Trump is now seriously threatened for the first time in his presidency,

and in response, he's becoming more lawless.

He sees the law not as a constraint on his power,

but as a tool to protect himself.

And as Jeff Sessions just learned,

he'll attack anyone in his way,

whether you're an opponent who hates him

or a supporter who gives him...

-The embrace.

-This has been "A Closer Look."
