I have a Pixel 6.  Until just today I had no problem taking photos, uploading / archiving the to Google Photos and then -- later on -- downloading those images for use with other apps (for example: take a snapshot, upload it and clear it from my phone, then download it hours, days, or weeks later from Google Photos so that I can instagram it, text it to someone, etc.)

Starting today, if I try to download a photo from Google Photos that I took *WITH MY PIXEL 6* it no longer downloads it. It will say "successfully downloaded\

I can view the video perfectly fine on my phone but when I try to download it it just says "trouble downloading please try again later" I've also tried on my iPad and I get the same message. The most common reason why somebody's images not getting backed up on an iPhone is probably because they are not periodically opening the Google Photos app while connected to Wi-Fi (depending on settings) and checking for the "Backup complete" message.

Did you seriously get rid of your old phone without confirming that your data existed someplace (https://photos.google.com/u/0/ and a minimum but I personally would rely on a single point of failure)?If you still have your old phone you can upload them with the Google Photos app or using your Lightning Cable.  If you don't have your old phone you are probably out of luck.

 

Other ideas are welcome.

 

It is always a good idea to store important images in more than one place / tool.  My photos are in Google Photos, on my laptop, and on multiple external disk drives (not connected to any computer or network).

I used multiple cameras, everything works fine except for pictures taken with one of them - the Nikon D800E.

None of the photos taken with my Nikon D800E (NEF or JPEG) show up in Google Photos. All other cameras made by Canon, Sony, and Nikon work fine.

Is there anything special with the files generated by Nikon D800E?

I checked the meta data of files on my computer, there is nothing unique nor interesting.

Can I generate a list of the files I uploaded into my Google Photos account or at least get an idea where these files are?

They may have non-recent dates and then they are not on top at https://photos.google.com when you are logged-in with the same account as they were uploaden (how?). 

In the search options you can find the Last added - perhaps you see them there and if you open the info panel of a single picture, you can see their dates. 

Then you know how deep down you need to look in the library.

The first page in the Google Photos app is called the library and is always sorted on date, recent-up. 

But you can change the view under the 3 dots right-up. 

In a normal browser it is https://photos.google.com and then you should log-in with your Google-account also to see the same pictures, but much larger.

I deleted about 50 photos from photos.google.com in Internet Explorer. I then browsed to the Trash to recover some of them, but only 5 of the 50 photos are available for recovery. All this was done within the space of about 15 minutes.

Here are the exact steps I took:

1) Browse to photos.google.com in IE

2) Click on Pictures on the left

3) Click the checkbox next to several dates

4) Click the Delete trashcan icon in the upper right

5) Repeat step 3 until I removed all the photos I wanted to delete

Once I was done deleting the photos, I then realized I wanted some the photos back. Here are the steps I took:

1) Click the hamburger icon in the top left

2) Click on the trashcan Trash icon

The photos I had just deleted were not there, with the exception of a random assortment of 5 pictures.

This seems like a major bug to me. I sent feedback, but what am I supposed to do to get the pictures back I need?

Did you check the trash from a different Browser such as Chrome or even the mobile app on your phone?  Are you seeing the same thing there too?

I just now checked on Chrome and in the Android app and only see the same 5 deleted pictures. None of the rest.

The only oddity I can think of is that the missing pictures may have originally been synced over from Picasa Web Albums. But I don't know why that would prevent them going to Trash after being deleted.

I started to have this problem too on Chrome browser. When I moved a photo to trash, I got the message saying it was moved to trash but it was not in trash. Also tried on different computer with Chrome browser and tried on Safari browser. Same result on all. I then emptied the trash and it started working again. I had many pictures in trash so maybe the trash was full. Or maybe emptying the trash removed some hang up.

This is really frustrating. Waited for 80+ photos to load from my phone to Photos, then another 24 hours. Deleted the photos from my phone and POOF! no trace of them in Photos. No where in the trash can or anywhere else, no way to recover them, and no help from Google. Second time this has happened. No logic to it, as other deleted photos are recoverable, but only a tiny number of them. Time to stop using google for anything photo related.

This happened to me on my other email account, i backed up my phone to google drive not knowing really what that meant because they make it completely not obvious at all. Then all of the photos from my phone showed up in the gallery on google photos but i didnt want to take up space so I deleted them all just to see that over 3000 photos of the animals i work with, my boyfriend, my family, etc has all been deleted. I agree that the mobile Google Photos app is way too complex and confusing:

It shows two types of photos:

• It shows all photos that are in Google Photos of the account you are linked to. I find that account at the right side of the search box on my Android device, but on my wife's iPad it's under the main menu (3 lines at left hand upper corner). 
• It also shows all photos on the device, whether they are uploaded to Google Photos or not. 
• Thus when you are linked to account A you see all photos uploaded to account A, and all photos on the device. When you are linked to account B you see all photos uploaded to account B, and also all photos on the device.

When you take a photo it can:

• Automatically upload to the account you see under "Backup and sync" in the settings of the app.
  Note that this is NOT necessarily the same account as the one you are connected to.  
• When you manually upload photos (3-dots > Back up now) they go to the account you are connected to, not to the account under "Backup & Sync" in settings when that is a different one. 
• Or not upload at all for different reasons, for example because you turned "Backup & Sync" off. 

When you delete a photo from within Google Photos it can also be deleted from all synced devices. It becomes really complicated when you are connected to one account and "Backup & Sync" to another.

Hello, User.

 

The first thing is to check if the images/videos are available in the web version of Google Photos. To do this, go to https://photos.google.com.

 

Look under the "Photos" menu, located in the left menu. If the images / videos do not appear, proceed to look for them in the "Trash".

 

If the resources you are looking for are there, just select them and click the "Restore" button.

 

Remember that images in the "Trash" are automatically deleted after 60 days. After this date it is not possible to recover them. If you delete the trash it will not be possible to recover the information.

 

An important consideration is that the "Backup and sync" option has been enabled on mobile devices. If this was not the case, the images and videos that you have deleted from your phone will not be able to recover them, at least from Google Photos.

 

Lastly, if the deletion process is foreign to Google Photos and responds to file management on mobile or desktop, I recommend using a file recovery app. On the Internet you can find different.
