The Moto G6 has a pull down (drag down twice from the top of the screen) when plugged into a PC USB port. It starts off in Charging mode and you have to select Photos for it to work,

Welcome to the Google photos community

To restore your photos and videos I suggest you to follow the below steps:

If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it's there.

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
2. At the bottom, tap Library  Trash .
3. Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
4. At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
   • In your phone's gallery app
   • In your Google Photos library
   • In any albums it was in

If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.

Don't see the photo or video?

If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can't restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:

• You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
• You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
• You moved it to trash more than 30 days ago on an Android 11 and up device, and it wasn't backed up.
• You permanently deleted it from your trash.
• You permanently deleted it from your device's Gallery app, without backing it up first.

To find and recover photos easily, turn on back up & sync.

However, regretfully, the video player in Google Photos doesn't support subtitles.

To do so, you will have to look for some different video player like VLC media.

 

Alternatively, you can switch on "Live captions" through the accessibility menu on your phone.

Then the OS will generate the captions automatically.

Hello, folk. Currently I am trying to free up space using Google Photos and it doesn't work. My storage manager shows that photos and videos are of 8gb size, but file manager can't locate them, access can be granted only via Google photos. I want to free up those 8gb, since Google photos states that backup was fully completed, but simultaneously shows that it's unable to free up space. And it's unable to delete photos from device (no such option). Also those of photos became 8gbs size gradually ( no new photos introduced), previous size was 4gb. I tried clearing cache, storage and remove updates, but it changed nothing. 

Please, help to resolve the issue

I'm sorry, I understand your frustration but it's not possible to edit a completed photo book as a starting point to create a new one, you have to start from scratch.

 

However, going forward I suggest that you first create an album with all the photos you want for a photo book in the order you want, and then make a photo book from that album. From the album, click the 3-dots icon and click Create photo book. This way you can re-use most of the work.
