- I would start adding them to an album in order to find them back more easily.
- Google Photos should use the Date Time Original when present. I have no idea why it did not in your case.
- How did you upload ? Manually or using Backup & Sync ?
- I would delete one ("Move to bin" in an album) and upload manually again. If still the same, can you share the original of an example, for example via Google Drive ?
- You can change the date/time in batch to a recent one, but they will still all have the same. It will move them in the library to the more or less correct place though (same for the album).

I had stopped using backup and sync since last June when the unlimited high quality uploads stopped. Until yesterday, I'm pretty sure my drive+gmail+photos storage was only 3gb full.
Today I went to my gmail and found that my google account storage was full and g photos had uploaded over 12 gb of photos. Checked phone and backup and sync was on (only for SD Card photos- which in my case include the camera). Have turned off backup and sync, but I wonder why this happened and how I can prevent thsi from happening again.
Also, I would like to delete these photos so I can restart receiving emails, but a lot of G photos forum posts say that g photos will delete images from your device even if you delete them from the web after having turned off backup and sync. Please guide me on how to go ahead with this.

I am a Google photos user for a long time. I have some private photos on Google photos. To restore your photos and videos I suggest you to follow the below steps:
If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it's there.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app
- At the bottom, tap Library
- Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
- At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
- In your phone's gallery app
- In your Google Photos library
- In any albums it was in
If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.
Don't see the photo or video?If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can't restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:
- You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
- You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
- You moved it to trash more than 30 days ago on an Android 11 and up device, and it wasn't backed up.
- You permanently deleted it from your trash.
- You permanently deleted it from your device's Gallery app, without backing it up first.
To find and recover photos easily, turn on back up & sync.
