I got a new Samsung phone. I added my account but now when I go to google photos app I see that some of the photos don't have the correct date that they were taken , and also are overlaping. (I press one and get another).
The phone was my sister's and we removed her account from it but it still doesn't work correctly.
Is there a way to refresh the app?
What could solve the problem?
Thank you
Answer:
Close the app and go into the general settings for apps and choose the Photos-app.

Hello sir,
Answer:
Close the app and go into the general settings for apps and choose the Photos-app.
Then remove cache and data.
Close the settings, restart the phone, restart the app when having good wifi for at least an hour and let it rebuild slowly. Maybe your problem is solved then.
Good luck
PS: pictures synced from Whatsapp have no real dates anymore, so they can appear everywhere.

There is no way to stop someone from adding you to an album without blocking that person.
Nevertheless, you can suggest the desired feature through the help & feedback route.

Hi, Casey Clark 8997
Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your post.
I suggest you follow these steps to remove the person from the current grouping & add that to another one.
- Tap to open the photo.
- Tap the three dots at the top right corner.
- Next, you will see a thumbnail of all the identified persons and a pencil icon. Tap that icon.
- Once done, all the identified faces will display a minus sign at the top left corner of the thumbnail. Tap that.
- The thumbnail will now move down to the row of faces below with the tag "Available to add". The minus sign will also change to plus.
- Tap that plus. Now, the app will show the entire gallery of the persons identified to date. Tap on the right one & now the photo will get added to the correct grouping.

However, face recognition technology is still evolving.
That's likely to make errors when faces are similar.
Regrettably, the users can't do much to improve the situation.

Hello. I have noticed that some photos are being backup to to Google Photos even though the folder containing these is not selected to be backed up. In this example, they are photos I have saved to phone from Facebook. The Facebook folders are not set to be backed up, yet they are. Anyone else experiencing this, or similar (maybe same thing but with different folder)?
Answer:
Thank you, that perhaps is the reason. On the internal storage the Facebook folder is indeed under DCIM (on external storage it isn't). When I saw that Google Photos backs up "camera" by default I assumed that meant just the folder called Camera. It looks like maybe it backs up DCIM and everything underneath it. I also a couple of other folders under there so I can test this theory out

Answer:
Hi, Gene Palmiter
