If you want to get a deleted item back, check your trash to see if you can get it back. If your photo or video has already been backed up and you deleted it, it will remain in your Trash for 60 days.
  1. On your computer, go to the trash.
  2. Place your cursor over the photo or video you want to restore, then click Done Done.
  3. At the top right, click Restore Restore. That photo or video will be restored to your Google Photos library and added back into any albums it was in.
Don't see the photo or video? If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can’t restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:
  • You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
  • You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
  • You permanently deleted it from your trash.
  • You permanently deleted it from your device’s Gallery app, without backing it up first.

Question: I need my photos back

I need my photos back after deleted in the trash

Hello Sujata,

Please review the following information in case there are any options you haven't yet tried.

1. Check your online account - photos.google.com
If your photos were successfully uploaded to your online Google Photos account they may be available there. Try visiting photos.google.com and searching for them. If you have more than one Google account, check all of them.

2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash
Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.

If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos

3. Review other options
  • if you previously used Picasa, visit picasaweb.google.com and search for your photos.
  • have you made any backups of the photos on your phone, camera, computer, or elsewhere?
  • there is a small chance that you can restore the photos using a recover deleted photos app (Android). I haven't used them myself so have no specific recommendations. There may well be more app options if you visit the appropriate app store and try other search terms. I don't see any similar apps on the iOS store, but you could check yourself.
  • you can contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Use the Google Drive contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.
  • If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.
Thanks.

Question: 1 need to buy 1gb. of storage.

@Christine
1TB (1000 GB) is not offered - so you need to take 2 TB (2000 GB).
But for your Android-camera????
What you you planning to do then?
And why don't you use a computer for storing your originals and then upload to Google in high quality - then 200 GB may be enough for years?

Question: Why deleted all videos in my Instagram album

Videos

====================End Question=====================

Question: I want to have my deleted photos and videos back.

I want to recover my deleted images and videos. They are really important to me.

Hello  Sir,
Please Take a look at the below info.

Following is text from the official Google Photos Help page about deleting and restoring photos and videos:

Restore photos & videos
If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it's there.
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  2. At the bottom, tap Library  Trash .
  3. Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
  4. At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
    • In your phone's gallery app
    • In your Google Photos library
    • In any albums it was in
If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.
    Important:
    • If you delete a photo or video that's backed up in Google Photos, it will stay in your trash for 60 days.
    • If you delete an item from your Android device without it being backed up, it will stay in your trash for 60 days.
    • If you see a photo or video in Google Photos that you think you deleted, it might be on a removable memory card. To delete it, use your device's gallery app.
    Empty your trash
If you see a request to "Delete permanently" when you try to move an item to trash, your trash is full. Your trash can hold 1.5GB.

Important: If you empty your trash, you permanently delete any items in your trash.

Don't see the photo or video?
If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can't restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:
    • You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
    • You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
    • You permanently deleted it from your trash.
    • You permanently deleted it from your device's Gallery app, without backing it up first.
When you attempt to manually empty the trash bin in Google Photos, a warning message box appears that explains you are about to permanently delete those pictures and videos. If you choose to proceed anyway, there is nothing that any of the volunteers in this forum can do to help you recover your pictures.

The information on the following Google Photos Help pages will help you become more familiar with finding, deleting, and restoring your pictures:

If you deleted pictures or videos that were not previously backed up to your account through the Google Photos app, then unfortunately there's nothing that Google or any of the volunteers in this Help Community can do to recover them.

Files that existed only on your phone, ones that were never uploaded to the cloud, cannot be recovered or restored by a cloud storage service. Simply put, Google can't help you recover files it never had in the first place.

    Thanks.

Question: Dates are no longer visible on photos after copying them from internal storage on phone to SD card.

Move photos from device internal storage to SD card retaining photo information.

    @Denise
This does not have anything to do with Google Photos.
If the majority of pictures come from your own Android-camera, they will retain all data correctly.
However if many come from social media like Whatsapp, they simply will get the date of moving because they have no data of their own due to bad design.
You can't prevent that and we can't help.

PS: I never have seen dates on photos, but in Google Files the pictures are grouped per date.

    Answer:

Then some app is misleading you, so you must be clear how you are viewing them.
Perhaps I can check then what is wrong and suggest a better viewer like Google Gallery Go.

    Answer:

After moving to archive, there is nothing to delete in the mainstream. Unless with backup off, because then you stil will see the local picture(s) which should not be deleted (if you want to do that, you should do that in the device folder on the Library page or in a separate gallery).

    Answer:

    @Anne
Then you problably have switched-on backupping.
That is essential for corrrect functioning because that archive is in the cloud and not on phone.

I've received a message that Google photos backed up my whatsapp images, documents and videos. After I've received that message I want to clarify that,so that I went to gallery and delete a picture from whatsapp images. Then I return to google photos to check if that image is deleted or not. I was shocked because that photo also deleted from Google photos. How can it happens. If one photo is backed up it'll never delete until I made it to go into the trash. But it's seems really strange, when i delete that photo in my gallery, it is also deleted in google photos. That's my problem.. I've lost my daily data on backing up all these images. Now I have nothing. What can I do to back up my whatsapp images and clean my smart phone's internal memory ?

    Answer:

"When I delete that photo in my gallery, it is also deleted in google photos."
When you delete from Gallery it does not delete from the Google Photos cloud https://photos.google.com/. It's more likely that the photo was not uploaded, and that you deleted the only copy. If so you cannot recover it from Google Photos. Your only chance seems a trash bin on the device of some recovery software.

I use google photos to search on faces, and I have spent a lot of time getting faces correctly matched with names.  However, there are a lot of photos where there are no facial matches.  What I mean is: where faces are clear and large, and are of established facial matches (family members that I have hundreds of facial matches already), in the info section, there is no "people" section.  Meaning no face recognition for that picture, and no "one available face to add" prompt, so no way to add associate a name with the face.  This seems to be random but pervasive in my entire collection, spanning 20 years and thousands of pictures.  See attached picture, which is the same camera, same person on the same day in nearly the same pose.  The auto facial recognition actually was successful to apply the correct name to the harder possibility, and there's no face associated with photo with the clearer face.   Any suggestions?

    Answer:

    Scott Miller
I can only confirm what you observed: it works well in most cases, but not all. And there is nothing we (also users) or you can do about it. I notice on the screenshots that you can edit the people data (many accounts do not even have that option), but that does not help you when no face is detected. I wonder whether the face will be recognized later. Lat us know when that is the case.

The only work-around I know is to create an album, for example a "live album" for the most important people, and add manually the missing photos. But that's not really feasible systematically.

As a workaround you may move the photos to the Archive as explained here https://support.google.com/photos/answer/7362432?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&oco=1 But this doesn't provide the same level of protection of locked folders. For example, archived photos are still returned in searches.
