White House prepares to REPLACE ailing Ruth Bader Ginsburg as Trump aides quietly signal his allies

She's the subject of a Hollywood biopic and is very much alive, but the White House has been in contact with Senate Republicans about possible replacements for the ailing 85-year old Supreme Court justice.

The White House is even working on a short-list of possible nominees to replace Ginsburg, who broke her 25-year streak when she began missing oral arguments on Monday.

The White House counsel's office is even trading names with the office of new Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham. Politico published a list of them Thursday.

The short list of potential replacements for the ailing Ginsburg include Seventh Circuit judge Amy Coney Barrett, whose name got floated before Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh.

Others identified include Joan Larsen of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, Raymond Kethledge of the Sixth Circuit, Britt Grant of the Eleventh Circuit, and Thomas Hardiman of the Third Circuit, who served with Trump's sister, Maryanne Trump Barry.

The White House 'is taking the temperature on possible short-list candidates, reaching out to key stakeholders, and just making sure that people are informed on the process,' a source told the publication.

Graham is still putting his stamp on the Judiciary panel. He met with Trump's attorney general pick William Barr this week, even as some Democrats complained they couldn't get face time with the nominee.

He said he got assurances from Barr that he wouldn't shut down the Mueller probe. Ginsburg continues to recover after doctors removed two cancerous growths from her left lung December 21.

Until Monday, she hadn't missed oral arguments she was confirmed to join the court after Bill Clinton's nomination of her in 1993.

Following her initial in November that resulted in fractured ribs, Ginsburg declared herself 'almost repaired,' and immediately got back to an exercise routine.

'Glad to see you are feeling great,' President Trump told her at an event for the late Justice Antonin Scalia. But in initial comments he also brought up a grudge.

'I wish her well. She said something very inappropriate during the campaign, but she apologized for it,' he the president said in November.

'I wouldn't say she's exactly on my side, but I wish her well, I hope she gets better, and I hope she serves on the Supreme Court for many years.'.

In December, following her cancer surgery, Trump tweeted: 'Wishing Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg a full and speedy recovery!'.

Trump just doesnt understand the border Here are the facts NY Daily News

President Trump took to television on Tuesday to make his case that the lack of a border wall has caused a crisis. Drugs, terrorism, crime and the illegal immigration of children all featured prominently as supposed justifications for spending billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars on the project. Yet upon close examination, the Presidents justifications fall flat. The border has problems, but the President doesnt understand them, and some of them he has caused himself.

The President cited stopping drug smuggling as a primary goal of his border barrier. Far from a crisis, however, the value of drug seizures by the average Border Patrol agent actually 70 percent since 2013. Thats because marijuana is the primary drug smuggled between ports of entry, where a border wall would go, and marijuana has been legalized in so many states that demand is being filled domestically.

While Trump acted as if the absence of a border wall were the primary cause of the opioid crisis, the average inspector at ports of entry in 2018 eight times more cocaine, 17 times more fentanyl, 23 times more methamphetamine and 36 times more heroin than the average Border Patrol agent seized at the physical border in early 2018. The hard drugs that Trump claims to care about arent coming where Trump thinks they are.

As importantly, building hundreds of miles of border fence from 2005 to 2009 did nothing to deter smuggling between ports of entry anyway. The average Border Patrol agent the same quantity of marijuana after the current fences went up as before. When marijuana was legalized in several states starting in 2014, marijuana seizures suddenly dropped 78 percent — legalization, not the wall, stopped the narcotraffickers.

The President could not help but raise the specter of terrorists crossing illegally. The fact is that a foreign terrorist a single terrorist attack in more than four decades after crossing the border illegally. Trump officials a number of special interest aliens whom Border Patrol apprehended, but — they are just people who come from countries of interest. They could be a family fleeing terrorists, like the Syrian Christians who at the border in 2015.

It would not be a security crisis without numerous criminals and gangs. Yet Border Patrol figures show that the agency less than 1,000 border crossers who had convictions for violent crimes. Thats just 0.2 percent of total apprehensions. A majority of the criminals in 2018 were people convicted of, not surprisingly, crossing illegally. Trump claimed thousands of suspected gang members were caught crossing illegally, but again, the real number in 2018 was just 728.

The fact is that the vast majority of immigrants crossing the borders of the United States legally or otherwise are simply peaceful people seeking the American dream. Thats why, based on figures from the Census Bureau, immigrants — legal and illegal — as likely as natural born Americans to be behind bars in America.

Trump struck a compassionate tone when he spoke about children who make the dangerous journey to this country. But his policies — and the current border fence — have only hurt them. As Border Patrol and the border fences pushed more and more immigrants to cross in remote areas of the border — in deserts, mountains and rivers — the journeys grew more perilous and more people died.

In 1998, Border Patrol found one for every , but after building the fences and doubling its force, it found one dead migrant for every 1,034 apprehensions in 2017. Thats a sign that the journey is now about 5 times more dangerous. In addition, the remoteness of the locations where they were apprehended to the deaths of both children who died in Border Patrol custody in recent weeks, as it was more difficult for them to get help.

Trump is making matters worse. His administration has institutionalized a practice of the number of people who can apply for asylum at legal ports of entry. This forces them to either live homeless and starving in dangerous cities in Mexico for months, or enter illegally. This choice is what is driving women and children into the hands of smugglers and leading them to cross illegally.

The administration says it doesnt have the resources to process families at ports, but somehow Border Patrol has the resources to process as many families that it apprehends between ports. At a minimum, the port inspectors could turn the families over to Border Patrol, maintaining a safe and orderly flow.

The problem is that the Trump administration doesnt want any flow, even a legal one. As Trump has , I dont want them in our country. But thats not a solution. Trumps policies have created a real problem, but his border wall is not the fix the system needs. America needs to overhaul its outdated immigration system.

TRUMP GAVE THE MILITARY THE ONE ORDER THAT HAS THE CARAVAN SHAKING WITH FEAR - Duration: 11:30.

TRUMP GAVE THE MILITARY THE ONE ORDER THAT HAS THE CARAVAN SHAKING WITH FEAR

The migrant caravan just got some bad news.

Thousands of illegal aliens thought they were going to flood into the country.

But President Trump just gave the military the one order that has the caravan shaking

with panic.

Trump is determined to resolve the standoff over the border wall by finding the money

any way he can.

One method would be to declare a national emergency and order the military to begin

construction.

The President could also "reprogram" money Congress appropriated for other departments

toward a wall construction project.

It is increasingly apparent that Democrats have no intention of providing any votes to

fund the wall.

The President's supporters believe he may have to use his executive authority to build

the wall.

To that end, Trump directed the Army Corps of Engineers to determine if money from a

$13.9 billion disaster relief bill Congress passed in last February could be used to start

construction on this vital project.

Before Trump left for a trip to Texas to tour the border, he told reporters that he "probably

… I would almost say definitely" move to declare a national state of emergency in

order to direct the army to build the border wall.

"I would say 100 percent," the president continued.

"I don't want to say 100 percent because maybe something else comes up."

Trump hinted this could be the case in a January 9 tweet.

"Billions of dollars are sent to the State of California for Forest fires that, with

proper Forest Management, would never happen.

Unless they get their act together, which is unlikely, I have ordered FEMA to send no

more money.

It is a disgraceful situation in lives & money!" Trump wrote.

But some Trump supporters do not believe declaring a national emergency is the way to go.

The Wall Street Journal reported White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway cautioned against

this direction.

The Journal reported she advised the President that it would "let Congress off the hook."

Other Trump supporters view those encouraging the President to declare a national emergency

such a pro-amnesty RINO Lindsey Graham as setting the President up to fail.

Graham tweeted "Mr. President, the Democrats are not working in good faith with you.

Declare emergency, build the wall now."

The South Carolina RINO tried to put a deal together to trade the wall for a massive amnesty

for millions of illegal aliens.

It fell apart.

Graham urging Trump to declare a national emergency could be a back-door amnesty sneak

attack.

Democrats would surely file suit as soon as Trump made the move.

A friendly judge – most like in the ninth circuit or the Washington D.C. court of appeals

– would issue an injunction stopping wall construction.

Trump would forfeit his leverage by agreeing to reopen the government and declare a state

of emergency.

His only hope of getting wall money would be crawling back to the Democrats and begging

for them to take an even bigger amnesty than before in the hopes of securing a few crumbs

to build the wall.

We will keep you up to date on any new developments in

this

ongoing story.

Trump Inches Closer To Declaring National Emergency For Fake Border Crisis - Duration: 5:26.

On Thursday, Donald Trump reiterated the fact that he has the absolute right, the authority,

and possibly even the option to declare a national emergency for this nonexistent border

crisis that he has created in his head.

Now, the reason he would do that in case you're unawares because he wants to circumvent congress

in order to get the funding for his border wall and he believes that declaring a national

emergency, even though there is no national emergency, would allow him to do that.

Uh, he's actually wrong about that.

And here's why.

Well, first and foremost, let's actually talk about the fact that, uh, there's some debate

about whether or not he could declare a national emergency, even though there's obviously not

one.

The answer to that is yes, he does have that authority.

The 1976, uh, a national emergencies act lays out no criteria whatsoever as to what constitutes

an emergency.

So yes, he could declare emergency if he ran out of ketchup in the White House.

He does have the authority to do that.

Here's the thing, just because you have the authority to declare a national emergency

that does not automatically give you access to the funds and that's what he's after.

So that's the good news of all of this.

Here's the way it plays out.

Uh, he basically, if he were to declare a national emergency, would have two options

here.

One, you send in the military, if it's that kind of national emergency, in which case

the military, our soldiers, our troops would then be the ones that would have to build

the wall in order for the funding to be legit.

He would not get the funding if the military itself wasn't carrying out the project.

So probably not something that's going to go over super well with the military and that

is actually the more difficult option for him to do.

The second, as he has said, is that he could just dip into the National Emergency Fund,

right?

Well, no, you actually can't because the president under this National Emergencies Act is required

to submit to Congress what he wants to do.

He has to send a list, like, I'm going to do this.

I'm going to take this much money.

I'm gonna, spend this much money on this and here is how everything plays out.

Congress.

Do you approve?

And if Congress says no, then we're right back at square one at this point.

So yeah, Donald Trump can whine and cry all he wants about a nonexistent emergency and

say that, oh, I'm going to declare a national emergency.

Go ahead.

It's not going to change the current situation that we're in and you're still not going to

get the funding.

All it's going to do, as legal experts have pointed out, is shift the blame from Republicans

to the court systems where this would inevitably end up, and let's not forget that today is

the day that our federal court system officially runs out of money and begins operating on

skeleton crews as of this coming Monday.

So good luck trying to get that through a court system during this government shut down.

The president is in a corner at the moment and some say that that makes them weaker,

but to me it does make him more dangerous.

This man doesn't know what to do.

He doesn't know how he got himself into this situation and he sure as hell doesn't know

how to get himself out of it.

So like any animal that's caged or corner, he is going to start lashing out and given

the powers that he does have, it's going to be pretty scary to see how this thing plays

itself out.

Trump Officials Won't Stop Lying About Non-Existent Border Crisis - Duration: 3:36.

So this past weekend, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, as we all know by now, when on Fox News with

Chris Wallace tried to push the administration lies about this crisis down at the border,

and Chris Wallace called her on her, said, that's not true.

You're not telling the truth here.

Well, you would think that would be the end of it, right?

Fox News of all people called the administration out said, you're not telling the truth, so

let's move on and find a new talking point.

Unfortunately, Sean Hannity didn't actually get that memo or he got the memo and he said,

I'm going to do whatever the hell I want anyway, because I'm the biggest cheerleader for the

Trump administration.

So Wednesday of this week, he brings on Homeland Security's Kirstjen Nielsen, where he asks

her about all of the thousands upon thousands of people on the terror watch list that we

have apprehended at that southern border.

And he let her get away with saying yes, yes we have.

So Sean Hannity set up the live for her and all she had to do was say, well, that's not

quite true.

And she couldn't even do that.

Kirstjen Nielsen couldn't even do that.

And Sean Hannity was right there helping her pedal it.

Here's the truth.

By the government's own admission, they typically don't catch people on the terror watch list

on the borders.

In fact, uh, they did, however, in 2018 catch more people coming across the Canada border

into the US who were on the terror watch list or whose names matched the name on the terror

watch list than they did at the southern border.

And yet you're not hearing all the clamoring for a northern wall to keep all the horrible

people out.

Just the southern one, the southern one that actually poses less of a threat by the government's

own admission.

Then our northern border.

Now I'm not saying we should build a wall between the US and Canada.

I am anti wall.

But here's the thing, as long as this administration continues pushing out these lies, there's

going to be at least a fraction of people in this country who are going to continue

to believe it.

And those are the people who are going to continue commenting on Trump's twitter feed

saying, build the wall, build the wall.

God bless you, president Trump, you're the greatest president we've ever had.

And if you think I'm exaggerating those comments, seriously, go to any tweet Donald Trump sends

out and look at the comments.

You will literally find someone saying exactly the things that I just said.

It's disgusting.

It's repulsive.

Most of them are bots, but some of them are actually thinking and breathing and human

beings, and that's terrifying.

But what's even more terrifying is that they're buying into the nonsense being spread by this

administration.

There is no crisis on the southern border.

The only crisis down there are the children who are dying and this administration's internment

camps because that is what they are at this point.

These are internment.

That's the crisis.

That's where we need to declare a national emergency and free those children.

But instead Trump's throwing his temper tantrum.

He wants his vanity project.

He wants this wall that just yesterday we found out could be easily solved through.

So it really is completely worthless and useless.

Nonetheless.

He wants to do it, and Fox News is damn sure gonna, make sure that they are right there

to help him push whatever lie he needs to sell in order to construct this border wall.
