Puerto Ricans still recovering from a devastating hurricane that killed thousands and displaced even more may see their state's disaster funds shifted to what President Donald Trump claims is an emergency at the U.S-Mexico border.

Trump is reportedly considering a plan to declare a national emergency and then siphon money from funds used for disaster relief in Puerto Rico, Texas, California, Florida and other states affected by natural disasters in order to pay for his border wall.

Puerto Rico is still suffering the aftermath of a hurricane last year, and officials there were dismayed by the reports.

"Taking $ from disaster areas to pay for a wall is the egotistical response of a man who gets his way or brings everyone down," Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz (D) of San Juan, Puerto Rico, tweeted Thursday.

Trump has asked Congress to approve $5 billion of taxpayer money for his wall, and partially shut down the government when he was denied the funding.

He's now considering alternate methods of payment. An official who spoke to CNN said the White House has asked the Pentagon to provide it with a list of funds that were meant to go to relief projects but have not yet been spent, which totals an estimated $13 billion.

The shutdown, which has entered its 21st day, has left an estimated 800,000 federal workers furloughed or working without pay. Trump said last week he can "relate" to the unpaid workers, but that "they'll make adjustments."

On Thursday, Trump said he had the "absolute right" to declare a national emergency to build his wall and said that Mexico will "indirectly" pay for it.

"I have the absolute right to declare a national emergency, the lawyers have so advised me," Trump said outside the White House. "I'm not prepared to do that yet, but if I have to, I will. I have no doubt about it. I will."

"But the easy route for me would be to call a national emergency and do it," he added.

Rep. Jennifer Gonzalez (D-Puerto Rico) said late Thursday that Trump is playing "political football."

"While the President has broad military authorities, as the Commander in Chief, when it comes to declaring a national emergency, I cannot and will not support reallocating funding we approved in a bipartisan effort in Congress for the recovery and reconstruction of Puerto Rico," Gonzalez said.

"We haven't received the funding after more than a year and using this as a political football is not what the American citizens in Puerto Rico deserve," she continued.

Trump has been criticized for his response to the disaster in Puerto Rico.

In November, he reportedly told Congressional leaders he didn't want any more money going to Puerto Rico for their disaster relief because, he believed without evidence, that the Puerto Rican government was mishandling the money and instead using it to pay off debt.

when is a fact check not really a fact check hi thanks for watching it's Friday

today that means it's fact-check Friday and

today I want to talk about an idea in fact checking and that is that sometimes

a fact check really isn't a fact check at all now the example that I'm going to

give you today deals with Jake Tapper at CNN he works with factcheck.org and he

has a weekly series where he usually fact checks Trump and I'm gonna give you

an example today on how this fact check really isn't a fact check at all let's

take a look but this week I want to take a look at just one of those statistics

that we keep hearing about the number that we're looking at today is 17,000

specifically in a letter to Congress on January 4th President Trump said that

quote 17,000 adults at the border with existing criminal records were arrested

in the last fiscal year the president's acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said

something similar in an interview with me on Sunday take a listen

the DHS secretary Kirsten Nielsen tried to point out that we had arrested 17,000

criminals of the southern border so far actually just last year and Nancy Pelosi

Pelosi simply refused to accept that fact so let's be very clear about what

Mick Mulvaney saying there he's saying that 17,000 criminals were arrested at

the southern border 17,000 criminals arrested at the southern border

is that true no that is not true let's start with what is true according

to Customs and Border Protection roughly 17,000 individuals with criminal records

were arrested last year trying to enter the United States but that figure 17,000

is not just for individuals at the southern border 10,000 of the 17,000 in

fact were arrested trying to come into the United States

through legal ports of entry legal ones like an airport or a seaport places that

a border wall would have no impact on and of course the big question are these

legal ports of entry were 10,000 of the 17,000 were arrested trying to enter the

United States were they all at the southern border no the number includes

any of the 328 ports of entry into the United States on the southern border or

the northern border or airports it could be Buffalo it could be Miami it

could be Seattle just to name a few first the original memo that was sent

out from Trump did not specify what the border was and technically right a

border is any port of entry any airport that has an international arrival that's

part of the border the northern border it's all the border

technically the memo there was no issue with the memo Mulvaney in his interview

this past weekend mentioned it specifically with the southern border

and Jake Tapper fell for this hook line & sinker

you see that's one of the issues when you try to fact-check Donald Trump is

Donald Trump often doesn't care about specific numbers he cares more about

getting his message out or getting his point across and it really doesn't

matter if you were to convey to people hey there were several thousand or tens

of thousands of people crossing the border that were criminals it doesn't

mean much the number doesn't mean anything what's more important is that

you're getting across the point is that that thousands of criminals are crossing

the border okay and by Mulvaney making this error I suspect that it was

intentional and by saying yeah there were 17,000 at the southern border they

knew that there were gonna be articles Jake Tapper was gonna get on CNN and go

off about how it wasn't 17,000 it was actually more like 7,000 criminals

crossed at the southern border Trump doesn't care if you correct him from

17,000 to 7,000 that doesn't matter the point of the matter is that

tapper is telling his audience that thousands of criminals are crossing the

southern border Jake you got played see this is kind of like suppose you were a

kid you're I don't know a young teenager and your folks go away for the weekend

and when they come back your dad busts into your bedroom and says listen listen

son I know that you had your friends over and you drank my gin and my vodka I

know you were just admit it if you were to come back and say dad I want to

fact-check you we only drank your vodka we didn't touch your gin you're a sucker

you just gave away the point you know that's what happened in this case Jake

Tapper is now getting out Trump's message that there are thousands of

criminals that are caught at the southern border but if he had just said

7,000 Jake Tapper wouldn't have done a piece on it on CNN and on factcheck.org

but now Jake Tapper is spreading the message that Trump wants him to spread

because Jake Tapper is too arrogant and he thinks that he's so smart but he's

not he got played in this case a reminder to all you politicians out

there you're perfectly entitled to your own opinions not to your own facts but I

The FBI is looking into Robert Mueller.

It was an announcement that shocked Americans.

But no one will believe the reason why the FBI is investigating him.

A Florida Woman Claims Lobbyists Pressured Her To Accuse Mueller

Mueller's team asked the FBI to investigate a claim that a lobbyist paid a woman to come

forward and make a false sexual misconduct claim against Mueller.

Lobbyist Jack Burkman called a press conference where he claimed he will produce an accuser

who will say Mueller sexually harassed her when they worked together.

"We're going to prove that he is a drunk and a sexual abuser," Burkman said in an

interview with The Daily Beast.

These allegations came about because a Florida woman named Lorraine Parsons emailed numerous

media outlets including The Daily Beast and Politico.

In her email, Parsons claimed Burkman and others offered to pay down tens of thousands

of dollars in her credit card debt to claim Mueller sexually harassed her.

The email described how a man named Bill Christensen called her and made the proposal.

"I'm not sure how he knew that I ever worked there or worked with Robert Mueller.

I reluctantly told Mr. Christensen that I had only worked with Mr. Mueller for a short

period of time, before leaving that firm to have my first son," Parsons wrote.

She recounted how Christensen, "then changed his tone, and mentioned that he might be able

to help me pay off some debt.

He knew exactly how much credit card debt I had, right down to the dollar, which sort

of freaked me out."

But Burkman denies paying anyone to make the accusations against Mueller.

"Be careful with the internet," Burkman said in an exclusive interview with The Daily

Beast.

"It's a mirage, it's just a wasteland of crazy stuff."

Robert Mueller Asks For FBI Investigation Mueller's team immediately asked for an

FBI investigation.

"When we learned last week of allegations that women were offered money to make false

claims about the Special Counsel, we immediately referred the matter to the FBI for investigation,"

Mueller spokesman Peter Carr stated.

Conservatives noted that the accusations made against Mueller were just as ridiculous as

those made by women against Brett Kavanaugh.

But the press ran with Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez's accusations as statements

of fact.

Neither of their stories held up under scrutiny.

And many Americans believe they made up their claims for political purposes.

The media likes Mueller.

They want him to take down Trump.

So they applied skepticism to these allegations.

They were right to do so.

But they should have applied the same standards to the Kavanaugh accusations.

There is one big reason they did not.

So-called "journalists" did not do so because they are all committed liberal partisans

whose only goal is advancing the Democrat Party agenda.

Trump STILL Refuses To Pay His Bills - Duration: 3:06.

Before Donald Trump ever even became president of the United States, we knew that this man

had a problem paying his bills, wasn't something he ever liked to do.

Your stories emerge.

Law suits emerged.

A old lawsuits that had been settled, emerged showing that he wasn't paying his workers.

He wasn't paying property taxes, he wasn't paying his contractors.

This guy does not like to pay his bills and sadly once he became president of the United

States, he did not change his ways and right now the White House owes $16,000,000 in back

water bills.

In fact, they owe so much and have failed to pay for quite so long that the DC water

board was joking recently.

About how long do we wait before we just shut off the water at the White House?

Here's the thing.

The a Treasury Department is in charge of paying these bills and it's not just for the

White House, it's for other government offices and agencies.

They pay their bill every quarter.

While this past quarter, which was before the end of the year, the Treasury Department

before the government shut down by the way, said we owe $60 million, we're gonna pay 11

million, we're not paying you that last $5 million.

So paying the partial bill rather than the bill in full, uh, to companies like this utility

companies that, that's pretty much the same as just not paying it at all.

You know, if we were to go and pay our water bill, but only pay half of it or two thirds

of it, they'd still shut our water off because that's what they do.

That's why they billed you for the full amount.

Instead of saying like, add, just pay what you can and then come back later when you

have it.

Yeah.

That's not how utilities work.

And that's why these people at the DC water board are actually kinda thinking like, do,

do we shut off the water for the White House and these government buildings because they

told us they're just not going to pay it.

That's not how it works.

But for Donald Trump, that's always been how it works.

That's why this man got soon, so much when he was in the private sector, he thought he

could get away with not paying people or maybe down the road, pay them less than what they

had earned as a result of a lawsuit, but that's not how it works.

When you're dealing with the federal government itself, they had the money to pay the water

bill.

This happened before the government shut down.

There are zero excuses.

However, members of the Dec waterboard have said that they're not going to shut off the

White House's water right now, but if this continues, you know, it may take up to a year

of not paying their bills, but if it hits that point than they are damn sure going to

shut off the water for the White House because Donald Trump won't pay the bill.
