Who is John Bolton? Trump's 3rd National Security Advisor | NowThis - Duration: 10:23.
Since we are about to elect the first African American as president,
it is a very significant historical fact
and I take it—therefore, around the world,
criticism of the United States for being a racist nation will now stop,
right?
That's John Bolton.
A veteran of both Bush administrations,
one of the primary architects of the lie that started the war in Iraq,
and President Trump's third National Security Advisor.
Bolton was born in Baltimore to a working-class family,
but got scholarships to the elite private military academy McDonogh School,
where he first got into conservative politics.
McDonogh history teacher Marty McKibbin said he used to have friendly debates
with Bolton about things like the Vietnam War,
which Bolton ardently supported.
Behind McKibbin's back, Bolton referred to him as "Mao McKibbin."
Bolton was an enthusiastic student organizer for Barry Goldwater's presidential campaign:
I have no question that had I voted for that bill,
I might have softened some of the negro opposition to my candidates.
Bolton's pro-war attitudes went with him to Yale,
where most students were protesting against the war in Vietnam,
and for civil rights.
Bolton wrote in his autobiography of that time that he felt like a "space alien"
But his support of the Vietnam War ended...
when it became his problem.
Bolton joined the National Guard to avoid the draft:
he wrote in a Yale Reunion book.
After undergrad, he stayed at Yale for law school and interned for President Nixon's
first vice-president Spiro T. Agnew,
who would resign in shame during a criminal investigation.
One of Bolton's old friends remembered that even in college
and Bolton would create a career out of slipping into powerful non-elected positions.
He was appointed by President Ronald Reagan to the Agency for International Development,
You'll teach him to sleep in a bed, to eat with a spoon, and make patty cakes.
What will that prove?
What if I could teach this monkey the difference between right and wrong?
the agency responsible for foreign aid for needy countries.
Bolton said his goal there was to
Another goal of his, apparently, was to verbally abuse his colleagues.
One employee said he tried to force her to lobby for less regulations on baby formula in developing nations.
She refused, citing studies that formula is dangerous in developing nations because of lack of access to clean water.
The employee alleges Bolton "shouted that Nestlé (a maker of formula)
was an important company,"
and then screamed that she was fired.
♫ Nestlé makes the very best, ♫
♫ chocooolaaateeee ♫
He didn't have the power to fire her, though,
so she was moved to a basement office as punishment.
Around this time,
he was taken under the wing of Reagan Chief of Staff James Baker,
and North Carolina Senator Jesse Helms, famous for this ad:
You needed that job.
You were the best qualified.
But they had to give it to a minority.
Because of a racial quota.
Bolton himself would fail to get a job too, for a very different reason.
Accounts of his verbal abuse spread,
and he was reportedly denied a partnership at his old law firm
because of allegations of anger issues and emotional abuse,
that however, didn't preclude him from continuing to have powerful positions in subsequent Republican administrations,
but then:
The American people have voted
to make a new beginning.
[Applause]
Bolton spent part of the Clinton presidency, what he called the "wilderness" years,
working for conservative think tank the American Enterprise Institute,
alongside right-wing luminaries like Dinesh D'Souza and Dick Cheney.
And then:
something happened in Florida.
There will be lots of suspicions on both sides about
the networks making the early call, the late
count that is going on, the missing ballot boxes in Broward county,
and if comes down to be just a few thousand votes, then we'll probably end up in court in Florida.
Bolton was pulled onto the team making sure the guy who lost the popular vote won the election.
He was dispatched to Florida to oversee the recount,
scrutinizing votes for Vice-President Gore
and working to swing the election towards Governor George W. Bush.
This is where he first got national recognition,
as America looked at recount photos and wondered
"who is this man and why does his mustache look like that?"
Bush would take Florida by 537 votes, and win the election.
Bush would return the favor by bringing Bolton into his State Department as
"Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affairs."
In this position, Bolton would play a key role in convincing the administration,
and America, that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction,
triggering events that led to the war in Iraq,
a virtually universally-derided conflict that Bolton stands by to this day.
In more minor warmongering, Bolton delayed diplomatic talks with North Korea,
pushed for a resolution to threaten Iran,
worked to destroy a ballistic missile treaty with Russia,
went AWOL on important meetings about stopping nuclear proliferation,
and, despite seeming to care a lot about stopping the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction,
derailed the Biological Weapons convention,
refusing to allow inspectors to look at U.S. weapons plants.
The lack of U.S. participation castrated the convention,
leaving nothing in place to stop the spread of those weapons worldwide.
During his tenure, he made a few things clear:
he didn't care about the lives or well-being of foreign nationals,
he always considered war the best option, and he hated the United Nations.
In 2005, he was nominated to be the Ambassador to the United Nations.
His confirmation hearings were incredibly dramatic:
Bolton was accused of having a temper,
and his abusive treatment of staff was discussed at length,
including this by a young Senator from Illinois:
Trying to get a sense of whether this person's temperament
or his veracity is such that it would justify placing him in such a sensitive position.
He was also accused of trying to claim Cuba had biological weapons,
and then tried to fire a biological weapon expert who said that wasn't true.
He was asked what he would do in hindsight to stop or slow down
the Rwandan genocide and made it about logistics
rather than the massive loss of life:
At that time, knowing all that you know now, what action would you have taken?
I'm not sure that I can honestly answer that, Senator, because we don't know logistically
whether it would've been possible to do anything different than what the administration did at the time.
The two-day hearing led to many Republicans pulling their support for him,
and he was not confirmed.
But, President Dubya slipped him in anyway as a 'recess appointment,'
giving him a temporary role while congress was on recess.
Bolton served in the role for a little over a year, and resigned.
When that Chicago Senator from earlier was elected president,
Bolton brought his warmongering attitude back to the American Enterprise Institute,
where he wrote op-eds like the 'Three-State Solution'
to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
"where Gaza is returned to Egyptian control and the West Bank in some configuration reverts to Jordanian sovereignty."
He made this weird video for a Russian gun rights group.
The Russian national government to grant a broader right to bear arms to its people.
The Russian politician who helped found the group is reportedly
under investigation by the FBI for donating money to the NRA
so that it could be funneled to Trump to influence the election.
He became a part of the secretive group Groundswell,
a collection of conservative politicians and journalists,
including Steve Bannon and General Michael Flynn,
who is being investigated for lying to the FBI.
The powerful group met to discuss their '30 front war' against the progressive movement.
Groundswell was a major voice in the conversations around making Benghazi into a big scandal,
and the concept of using the lie of voter fraud to justify voter suppression.
Bolton also chairs the Gatestone Institute,
a nonprofit that does a strange amount of studies proving that Islam is dangerous:
it helped propagate the lie of the 'no-go zone'
and the 'migrant rape crisis'.
It put out a false story that 500 churches had closed in London to be replaced with 423 Mosques,
calling London "Londonistan."
He started a Super PAC in 2013 to support Republican politicians that relied heavily on data from Cambridge Analytica,
which was caught in 2018 getting data from Facebook users through unsavory means.
Bolton's PAC got 5 million dollars from Robert Mercer,
the reclusive hedge fund billionaire who funded
Cambridge Analytica, the Trump campaign, and Breitbart.
And oh yeah, he appears on Fox News. A lot:
You've called for regime change in Iraq, Libya, Iran, and Syria.
In the first two countries, we've had regime change.
And obviously it's been—I'd say a disaster, I think we'd agree—
No, I don't agree with that and let me—
You don't think it's been a disaster?
No.
Which might be how he got the attention of President Donald Trump,
who appointed Bolton as his third national security advisor
(the first one, General Michael Flynn, left amid rumors of Russian collusion and lying to the FBI,
and the second left amid chaos in the White House.)
But will Bolton be confirmed in the Senate,
considering how much difficulty he had the last time?
Just kidding, it doesn't matter.
The National Security Advisor doesn't need to be confirmed by the Senate!
So now, a man with a history of warmongering, abusive behavior,
and skipping diplomacy will be in a role where he advises the president on issues of national security.
Check out what happened the first time he met the Secretary of Defense:
Secretary, it's so good to see you.
Thanks for coming, and it's good to finally meet you.
I heard that you're actually the devil incarnate. And I wanted to meet you.
He's been praised for his 'experience,' and yes,
he does have decades of experience in government and international relations,
but all of his experience is in making the world a more dangerous place.

Democrats FURIOUS About What Trump Just Put Outside White House
Democrats are currently up in arms over guns and demanding that Donald Trump take action
to repeal the Second Amendment.
However, in his mission to make America great again, Trump is tackling another issue the
mainstream media ignores that is actually having a far more negative impact on our nation.
Unlike Barack Obama, Trump has noticed that nothing is killing more Americans right now
than the opioid crisis.
Now, Trump is taking action to fight this crisis head-on in a way that is sure to enrage
liberals everywhere.
The Washington Examiner reported that next month, Trump is installing a memorial right
outside the White House to commemorate the 22,000 people who died in 2015 from a prescription
opioid overdose.
This will infuriate liberals, as they would rather Trump build a memorial for the 50 people
who have been killed in mass shootings this year than for the thousands who have lost
their lives to drugs.
Hosted by the National Park Service and the nonprofit National Safety Council, the memorial
will be placed on the White House Ellipse, home of the National Christmas Tree.
"This stirring exhibit will be open to the public from April 12 through April 18 to educate
visitors on the devastating impact of the opioid crisis," White House press secretary
Sarah Sanders said.
Part of the National Safety Council's "Stop Everyday Killers" campaign, the memorial
will show a wall of engraved pills depicting the faces of people who died along with a
note memorializing their lives.
"These stories are tough to hear, and this exhibit will be an intensely emotional and
somber experience," Sanders said.
"But it's also a reminder that lives are at stake, and we must take action to end the
plague of addiction that is ravaging communities all across our nation."
"The memorial encourages consumers to do two simple things: talk with their healthcare
providers about opioids and clean out their medicine cabinets," said Deborah Hersman,
president and CEO of the National Safety Council.
Liberals can whine about guns as much as they want to, but Trump has much bigger fish to
fry.

Trade War Over! China Caves Hours After President Trump Lays Down The Law - Duration: 3:41.
The mainstream media and political pundits, from both sides of the aisle, have doubted
the genius of President Donald Trump from day one.
Each time they doubt him, he proves them wrong, which is a lesson that China is learning the
hard way.
Under immense pressure from President Donald Trump, China's President Xi Jinping announced
that he was going to lower import taxes on foreign automakers and open China's markets
to foreign companies.
Translation: President Trump called China's bluff, and now they are caving.
President Xi was speaking at a business conference when he made the announcement, and though
he did not mention President Trump's name, the themes he referenced were in direct relation
to the sticking points that have aggravated the American president in trade between the
two powerful nations.
President Xi pledged to protect the intellectual property rights of foreign nations and to
open his nation's banking and finance industry to foreign ownership, The Associated Press
reported.
"China's door of opening up will not be closed and will only open wider," President
Xi said at the Boao Forum for Asia, which took place on the southern island of Hainan.
He said that China would "significantly lower" tariffs on foreign autos and reduce
the restrictions it has on foreign ownership in the auto industry "as soon as possible."
"Trump has threatened to raise tariffs on Chinese goods worth $50 billion in response
to complaints Beijing pressures foreign companies to hand over technology in violation of its
market-opening pledges.
Beijing responded with its own $50 billion list of U.S. goods for possible retaliation,"
The Associated Press wrote.
"The Chinese leader didn't refer directly to that dispute but promised to encourage
'normal technological exchange' and to 'protect the lawful ownership rights of
foreign enterprises'," it said.
What is most astounding, and least likely to be reported by the mainstream media which
cannot stand to report any of the president's successes, is that President Xi's announcement
came hours after President Trump tweeted on China's heavy tariffs on American autos
imported into the nation.
"When a car is sent to the United States from China, there is a Tariff to be paid of
2 1/2%.
When a car is sent to China from the United States, there is a Tariff to be paid of 25%.
Does that sound like free or fair trade.
No, it sounds like STUPID TRADE – going on for years!" he said.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 9, 2018
In the meantime, pundits from the Republican Party establishment, often called RINOs or
Republicans In Name Only, along with their counterparts on the Democrat side, have cried
that the sky would fall and a catastrophic trade war would come that would devastate
the United States.
But President Trump, a consummate businessman and master of "The Art Of The Deal," knew
better.
He knew that China needs the United States more than the United States needs China, and
he used that leverage to pressure China into ending its tyrannical trade practices.
For his part, it is apparent that President Xi quickly realized that he was not dealing
with some mealy-mouthed, spineless talker, but rather a man of action who was going to
be true to his word.
Not the type of politician that the Chinese, or anyone else in the world, is used to dealing
with.
It is the reason that the president continues to take everyone by surprise.
President Xi decided that he wanted to engage in a game of high stakes chess against President
Trump, and our president met that challenge.
Checkmate Xi.

Viral: Secret Service Insider Reveals Shock Truth About Trump Attorney Raid - Duration: 5:26.
Dan Bongino isn't buying it.
As news spread Monday that FBI agents had raided the office of President Donald Trump's
personal lawyer "in part" because of the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller,
the mainstream media had a field day.
But it took a former Secret Service agent to shine a light on the real truth about the
action.
According to The New York Times, Monday's raid opens "a new front for the Justice
Department in its scrutiny of Mr. Trump and his associates."
The first sentence of a CNN analysis declared "There could be dark and unprecedented times
ahead."
But for Bongino, who served for more than a decade with the Secret Service during the
George W. Bush and Barack Obama administrations, the raid was just more proof of how politicized
American law enforcement institutions have become.
To make his point, he contrasted the bureau's treatment of Trump attorney Michael Cohen
with its kid-gloves handling of Hillary Clinton associates during its "investigation"
of the Clinton email scandal.
"Fascinating that Trump's actual attorney's office is raided for 'evidence' while
Cheryl Mills, Hillary's 'lawyer' (and potential co-conspirator) was allowed to act
as Hillary's lawyer so she could later TAKE CUSTODY of real evidence," Bongino said
in a Twitter post Monday that had been retweeted almost 15,000 times by Tuesday morning.
Fascinating that Trump's actual attorney's office is raided for "evidence" while
Cheryl Mills, Hillary's "lawyer" (and potential co-conspirator) was allowed to act
as Hillary's lawyer so she could sit in on an interview and so she could later TAKE
CUSTODY of real evidence.
— Dan Bongino (@dbongino) April 9, 2018
The contrast couldn't be more striking.
FBI agents during the Obama administration trod gingerly around then-Democrat presidential
candidate Hillary Clinton and her top aides, like chief of staff Cheryl Mills.
Under the direction of then-FBI Director James Comey, the bureau allowed Mills to claim "attorney-client
privilege" during its half-hearted investigation of Clinton's use of a private email server
while she was secretary of state.
In May of 2016, Mills stormed out of meeting with FBI agents because a question supposedly
breached that privilege.
On July 2, 2016, Mills was allowed to be present while FBI agents conducted an interview with
Clinton that was supposed to be the climax of the email investigation.
Some climax.
It was only three days later that Comey made his now infamous declaration that Clinton
would not be prosecuted for the scandal.
The bureau could barely question Mills, who was involved in Clinton escapades that were
almost certainly criminal, while it sees fit to raid the office of Trump's attorney as
part of Mueller's investigation of an illusion called "Russia collusion" where no one
is even sure a crime has been committed.
Former U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, who investigated Clinton's email and Benghazi scandals from
his position as chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, also chimed
in with a tweet about Monday's raid.
HRC email probe started when IG found classified material in a non-classified setting, HRC's
attorney's office.
IG referred it to the DOJ.
Did the FBI raid the office?
Did the FBI immediately seize it?
NOPE.
They gave some of the attorneys immunity and let it sit.
— Jason Chaffetz (@jasoninthehouse) April 10, 2018
It's true that there are still many questions that haven't been answered publicly.
It is known that the raid was spurred "in part" by a referral from Mueller, meaning
whatever it involved was outside the scope of the Russia investigation itself.
And, according to CNN and The Washington Post, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein probably
signed off on the operation.
But what specifically the agents were looking for, and whether it was even at Cohen's
office still isn't clear.
Even with those questions pending, the truth is, the double standard is breathtaking.
If Mueller has a shred of evidence against Trump related to Russian collusion, or anything
else, it has not yet been made public.
So far as is publicly known, Trump and his associates have been cooperative (and if they
hadn't been, we can all assume it would have been shouted from the mountaintops by
the mainstream media getting convenient "leaks.")
When Clinton was under investigation in a matter that even her supporters knew stank
to high heaven, her chief of staff and alleged lawyer was allowed to storm out of the room
during FBI questioning with absolutely zero consequences.
During that same "investigation," Mills and other Clinton associates stonewalled the
FBI at every opportunity and instead of getting really tough, the FBI offered immunity from
prosecution and actually agreed to destroy laptops that could hold incriminating evidence.
Yet Trump's attorney's office is raided by FBI agents seizing computers and records.
The New York Times called it "a new front" in the Trump investigation.
CNN says there are "dark and unprecedented times ahead."
But what it really is is proof of how politicized law enforcement has become in this country
thanks to the Obama/Clinton years.
Dan Bongino isn't buying it.
And neither should the American public.

TRUMP JUST PARDONED HIM – HILLARY CLINTON PANICKING - Duration: 11:26.
TRUMP JUST PARDONED HIM – HILLARY CLINTON PANICKING
Hillary Clinton is undoubtedly in full panic mode after learning who President Donald Trump
just pardoned.
The Washington Times reported that Trump just pardoned former Navy sailor Kristian Saucier,
who had been convicted of reaking laws by taking a photo inside a nuclear submarine.
Saucier's case made headlines because the prosecution of him contrasted sharply with
the Obama Justice Department decision not to bring charges against Clinton for mishandling
classified material on her secret email server.
During his trial, Saucier's lawyer unsuccessfully used a "Hillary Clinton defense" that
argued his client couldn't be held to a higher legal standard than Clinton was.
A federal judge rejected this defense, however, and sentenced Saucier to one year in prison
and a $100 fine.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced the pardon on Friday, mentioning
that Saucier had an otherwise exemplary service in the Navy.
"Mr. Saucier was 22 years old at the time of his offenses and has served out his 12-month
sentence.
He has been recognized by his fellow service members for his dedication, skill and patriotic
spirit," said Sanders.
"The president is appreciative of Mr. Saucier's service to the country."
Saucier confessed to taking half-dozen photos of the USS Alexandria's classified propulsion
system while working as a machinist in its engine room in 2009.
In May of 2016, he plead guilty to one count of unauthorized possession and retention of
national defense information.
"When Kris gets home from work, when he gets to the door, I'm going to be a little
emotional," said his wife Sadie.
"I can't believe it happened, I don't think it's set in yet."
She added that she notified her husband of the pardon via text message as he drove his
garbage truck through a mountainous area with poor reception.
"I just was able to say 'Hey' via a text message, 'You got a pardon.'
All he said was, 'What!' with a big exclamation point," she said.
"I am very grateful.
It's going to be a huge for our family.
And a huge reality when probation calls and the ankle monitor is taken off, that's going
to be a big one."
This is bad news for Clinton, as it indicates the Trump administration may eventually go
after her.

Melania Trump Is A Dream In Form Fitting Denim Outfit For White House Event - Duration: 3:00.
Melania Trump is a dream in denim!
The first lady welcomed a group of middle school students to the White House on Monday
for an event she hosted alongside Education Secretary Besty DeVos.
The 47-year-old donned a form-fitting denim skirt with a statement-making zipper on the
front.
She paired the skirt with a bright red sweater and stilettos of the same hue.
And while Melania's fashion certainly turned heads, so did one interaction between her
and one student.
Melania Trump invited Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos to the Blue Room of the White
House, where the ladies spoke to middle school students about their daily agendas.
The FLOTUS dressed casually, opting for a bright, tomato-red Polo Ralph Lauren sweater
($245) that she coordinated with colorful pumps.
The focal point of her outfit was an Agnona denim skirt, which came in a dark wash and
was complete with a trendy tasseled zipper down the center, contrast stitching, and symmetrical
pockets.
Melania's design came to a modest length, but while some might expect her in a wool
pencil skirt or sleek work trousers, the first lady aimed to surprise, shopping the side
of her wardrobe that might be more familiar to young children — something a school teacher
might wear, perhaps.
Melania Trump's wardrobe as First Lady is definitely luxe.
You'll find designer brands such as Dior, Valentino, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren,
and even Kardashian favorite Balmain.
She gardened in a $1,380 shirt and didn't think twice about dropping $51,000 on a coat.
That's how Melania maintains her feminine, tailored style — it's her signature aesthetic,
and she sticks to it!
Though she often wears the most lavish clothing, we've noticed there are some pieces in her
closet that are more affordable.
You'll have to look hard, but on a few occasions, Melania proved even she can't escape a good
fashion deal — particularly when it comes to her sneakers.
When you think of Melania Trump's footwear, the Manolo Blahnik pumps she wore to visit
victims of Hurricane Harvey might first come to mind.
These shoes take the lead in controversy as far as the FLOTUS's wardrobe goes.
But from the time she stepped into the White House at the Inauguration (wearing a pair
of powder blue stilettos that matched her Ralph Lauren coat so closely, we couldn't
believe it), Melania's been cementing her footprint in designer.
Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin are behind some of her most-talked-about looks,
but you might be surprised to learn that Melania also owns Adidas Stan Smiths and Converse
sneakers.
