Trump's NAFTA demands REJECTED: Talks stall as Mexico and Canada refuse deal

The Canadian and Mexican ministers railed against aggressive US demands that would help boost US trade but diminish their own markets.

But despite the widespread disagreements at the talks in Washington, both Canada and Mexico vowed to keep negotiating to avoid an en impasse.

The Trump administrations proposals to reshape NFTA to help shrink US trade deficits have clouded the talks to modernise the 23-year pact.

US negotiators rolled out a raft of proposals urging Canada to dismantle its system of protections for the dairy and poultry sectors, a move that Ottawa will reject.

Additionally, the Trump administration set out proposals that could impose fresh restrictions on long haul trucking from Mexico. That too is likely to meet stiff resistance, Mexican officials say.

Washingtons demands, previously identified as red lines by its neighbors, include forcing renegotiations every five years.

It also wanted to reserve the lions share of automotive manufacturing for the United States and make it easier to pursue import barriers against some Canadian and Mexican goods.

Mexican and Canadian officials at the talks have said that these proposals are unacceptable.

Moises Kalach, head of the international negotiating arm of Mexicos powerful CCE business lobby, said America's demands were ridiculously extreme." He said: "The key is to remain calm and see if the American government is ready to negotiate."  Now fears are growing that negotiations to modernize NAFTA, which underpins some $1.2 trillion in annual trade between the three countries, could even extend into March.

It is yet to be seen how Mr Trump will react to the stumbling blocks. During his 2016 presidential campaign he pledged to "bring back jobs" and reinvigorate the US manufacturing sector.

Since taking office, he has continued his attacks on NAFTA even going so far as to threaten to terminate it if Mexico and Canada will not agree to changes.

US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, said that the tough negotiations reflect the US President's desire to claw back lost US manufacturing jobs.

He said Mr Trump's main aim was to slash the US goods trade deficits which amounted to $64 billion with Mexico and $11 billion with Canada last year.

Trump narrows Fed chairmanship list to five - Duration: 0:43.

U.S. President Donald Trump has narrowed down his list for the Federal Reserve chairmanship

to five candidates, which includes current Chair Janet Yellen.

He said Tuesday a decision would be made "over the next very short period of time" and a

White House official revealed it could be before he begins his trip to Asia early next

month.

Besides Yellen the other four candidates are said to be Fed board member Jerome Powell,

National Economic Council director Gary Cohn, former Fed board member Kevin Warsh and Stanford

University economist John Taylor.

Trump is scheduled to interview Yellen, whose term ends next February, on Thursday, after

which he will have met and discussed the job with all five candidates.

Trump Surprises UN With Major WITHDRAWAL Over Evidence Of Anti Israel Bias - Duration: 19:14.

Trump Surprises UN With Major WITHDRAWAL Over Evidence Of Anti-Israel Bias

Donald Trump sticks to his well-known policy: America always first.

The hidden tension between the UN and Trump's administration now erupted after Trump makes

major withdrawal over evidence of anti-Israel bias in the organization.

Of course, the liberal leaders didn't show support for Donald Trump and his efforts to

stimulate the world to take world terrorism and N. Korean threat more seriously.

Now, Trump is running out of patience.

The State Department announced Thursday its decision to withdraw from UNESCO, citing "continuing

anti-Israel bias" and financial mismanagement at the U.N.'s educational, cultural and

science organization.

"This decision was not taken lightly, and reflects U.S. concerns with mounting arrears

at UNESCO, the need for fundamental reform in the organization, and continuing anti-Israel

bias at UNESCO," State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said in a statement.

The U.S. will remain engaged with UNESCO as a non-member observer state after the withdrawal

takes effect on Dec. 31, 2018, according to Nauert.

The U.S. helped establish UNESCO after World War II to help protect world heritage, establish

journalistic freedoms and promote scientific collaboration and education.

UNESCO is best known for the World Heritage program, which helps maintain historical sites

of "outstanding universal value" around the world.

However, Israel recalled its ambassador to UNESCO in 2016 following the organization's

passage of several resolutions that denied Israel's cultural and religious ties to

East Jerusalem.

As a candidate for president, Donald Trump weighed in on UNESCO's resolutions, calling

them a "one-sided attempt to ignore Israel's 3,000-year bond to its capital city" and

"further evidence of the enormous anti-Israel bias" at the United Nations," according

to the U.K. Independent.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson notified French President Emmanuel Macron about the

U.S. decision to withdraw several weeks ago, according to Foreign Policy.

UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova expressed "profound regret" at the U.S. decision

to withdraw from the Paris-based organization.

Bokova said U.S. decision to withdraw was a "loss for multilateralism."

"Universality is critical to UNESCO's mission to strengthen international peace

and security in the face of hatred and violence, to defend human rights and dignity," she

said, according to The Washington Post.

Thursday marks the second time the U.S. has withdrawn from the organization.

Former President Ronald Reagan pulled out of UNESCO in 1984, citing concerns that it

had a pro-Soviet Union bias.

Former President George W. Bush rejoined UNESCO in 2002, but the U.S. pulled funding less

than 10 years later when the organization accepted Palestine into its ranks as a member.

H/T WesternJournalism

This is a huge and serious decision.

Our country is not part of UNESCO anymore.

Trump said that UN literally exists on the back of the American taxpayer because the

US cover near half of all expenses of the organization and it's really not fair if

they work against the interests of the USA.

Conspiracies are not allowed anymore, Obama's era ended.

Melania Trump Secretly Travels To West Virginia By Herself – The Reason Why Will Melt Your Heart - Duration: 14:53.

Melania Trump Secretly Travels To West Virginia By Herself – The Reason Why Will Melt Your

Heart

Melania Trump surprised everyone today with her unexpected travel to West Virginia and

she had a very good reason to go there.

The true meaning of the word philanthropist is purely described by what she did in her

casual visits and this time she did it again.

Melania Trump proved once again to be a loving First Lady.

Read more below:

First Lady Melania Trump traveled to Huntington, West Virginia, with the goal of raising awareness

and bringing attention to an issue which lays close to her heart.

Melania visited Lily's Place, which is a medical facility that provides infants suffering

from neonatal abstinence syndrome as a result of parental drug use with treatment, as well

as offers support and and aid to drug-addicted parents.

"I want to be here to support you and give a voice to Lily's Place and also for the

opioid epidemic," said Melania when she was referring to the staff, adding, "We

need to open the conversation to children and young mothers how it's dangerous to

use drugs and get addicted to it."

Upon delivering her remarks, the FLOTUS also visited with parents and infants at Lily's

Place, before later taking it to Social Media to share a heartwarming picture of her holding

a toddler.

Melania wasn't in a rush and instead, took her time to speak in private with families

receiving treatment at Lily's Place, where she voiced her support for the model that

the facility can be all across the nation.

"It is my hope that we can find ways to create more of the opportunities afforded

by places like Lily's Place," she said, adding, "So that we can continue to help

infants and children grow into happy, healthy adults."

Melania has once again set an example of how a true first lady should behave and care for

her people, especially the ones who need the most of the moral support and help.

H/T USANewsFlash

God bless Melania Trump and the good US people who make things like this to happen.

We need to stand all together and fight the drug epidemy.

We will eat the fruits of a true victory over the opioid epidemy when we will resocialize

and revitalize all addicts and help them live lives with dignity because these people really

want to use the help.

Everybody deserves a second chance.

Breaking President Trump Just Green Lighted The Navy & This Can Only Mean 1 Thing - Duration: 14:01.

Breaking President Trump Just Green-Lighted The Navy & This Can Only Mean 1 Thing

With the drastically increased tensions between the U.S. and North Korea lately, both countries

are bound to take measures ensuring their own safety and getting prepared for any kind

of conflict.

Via Christian News Alerts:

According to Daily Star, Trump has given the order to improve our defenses and possibly

give us a nearby asset for an attack.

He's sent an aircraft carrier with 7,500 sailors and marines near the Korean peninsula.

The aircraft carrier is the USS Theodore Roosevelt; it's a Nimitz-class warship costing $4.5

billion.

Known as the "Big Stick," its presence in the Korean peninsula will go a long way

towards providing effective defense or offense should the occasion call for it.

The US military announced that the carrier will be operating in the Pacific and the Middle

East carrying out security operations.

The South Korean media declared that it was sent solely for defensive purposes.

In any case, the presence of the massive warship should help dissuade Kim Jong-un from launching

another missile.

According to a strike group commander on the ship, Admiral Steve Koehler, the USS Roosevelt

is a force to be reckoned with.

In a statement before the weeks-long trip, he said, "The US Navy carrier strike group

is the most versatile, capable force at sea.

After nearly a year of training and integration exercises, the entire team is ready as a warfighting

force and ready to carry out the nation's tasking."

The USS Roosevelt will be the second aircraft carrier operating in the region.

At this time, the USS Ronald Reagan is already coordinating with the Japanese military in

joint military exercises near Okinawa.

While the ship does provide a significant increase to defense in the area, it also acts

as a strong show of force to dissuade any action by North Korea.

In addition to a greater sea presence, the US has also been increasing its air presence

in the area, according to Daily Star.

A reconnaissance plane equipped with radar used to detect ballistic missiles was seen

flying near the sea of Japan.

This aircraft, often nicknamed a "nuke sniffer," completed "regular deployment training"

Tuesday night, according to military officials.

Alongside it in the air were two B-1B bombers and three other aircraft.

The activity in the area signifies how tense things have gotten between the two nations

as Kim Jong-un continues testing his ballistic weapons and enhancing his nuclear arsenal.

Before the planes took to the air, President Trump met with various US generals in the

White House War Room to go over plans for the impending danger North Korea poses.

According to the Independent, North Korea's Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho, has made increasing

threats against the US on behalf of his leader, "With his bellicose and insane statement

at the United Nations, Trump, you can say, has lit the wick of a war against us.

We need to settle the final score, only with a hail of fire, not words."

With such strong words coming out of North Korea, it's reassuring that the threat is

being taken seriously and defensive measures like the USS Roosevelt are being put in place.

USS Theodore Roosevelt will be apparently the second aircraft carrier to arrive in the

region after the USS Ronald Reagan.

The USS Ronald Reagan is currently conducting joint military exercises with Japanese military

near Okinawa.

The Regan will take part in joint drills with South Korea later this month.

Tensions have been reaching fever pitch on the Korean peninsula in recent days with the

US holding a series of military drills.

Six US planes – including a "nuclear sniffer" and two Air Force B-1B Lancer bombers – took

part in the brazen show of force last night.

The provocative move came after Trump suggested military action against North Korea may be

the only option

to

solve

the crisis.
