Hi there,

Welcome to Photos Help Community!

They way iOS Photos works is like, whenever you open the Photos app, only then the app gets your photos synced from the camera roll. Even I was searching for the same and now I could see that I have to open the app once to do the syncing. So the best way is clear all junk photos from the iOS camera roll and then open Photos app. That way you will only get tge desired photos only.

Hi Kathrine, you can delete the Google Photos app  and the Google Drive app if it is installed, then go to https://photos.google.com/albums and delete the photos from there and they will not be touched on your camera roll.

The steps to take a screenshot vary between phone models & android versions.
 
However, if you have activated OK Google or Hey Google detection on your phone, the easiest way would be to say, "Hey Google take a screenshot". Then the Google assistant will do the work for you. However, once the screenshot is ready, upload that through Google Photos.
 
Nevertheless, the following are the standard methods to take a screenshot.
  • Long press the power button & tap on the menu option "Screenshot".
  • Press the volume down & power button simultaneously.
  • Press the volume down & home button simultaneously.
  • Press the power button & home button simultaneously.
  • Pull down the notification panel & look for the screenshot option.
You may try all these or refer to the documentation provided by your phone's manufacturer.

When you delete a photo in Google Photos web app, it is only deleted from one account. 
 
When you have more than one account, you may have the impression that the photo is deleted from 2  accounts as follows:
  • On your phone you are signed in to account A, but Backup and sync is set to upload automatically to account B
  • You take a photo with your camera: it is uploaded to account B but also shows on your phone when you are signed in to account A, because the Google Photos app shows also the photos on the device even when not uploaded. The photo is however NOT uploaded to account A. 
  • When you now delete the photo from account B on a computer, it is also deleted from the phone, and thus also no longer shown on the phone when you are in account A.

Regretfully, the editor in Google Photos doesn't offer any feature to remove a timestamp in the form of a watermark.
I suggest you look for some specilised app like Photoshop.

I've cleared the cache, done a re sync and reinstalled the app.  They appear correct on the desktop version.
What can I do to fix this?

  2. Tap your email address (or small down-triangle) and select Remove Active Account  (or on an IOS device, select Manage Accounts and toggle off your active account)
  3. Shut down, then restart your phone.

  5. Wait until Getting Photos finishes; this could take some time (even though already backed-up images are merely being indexed, not uploaded again).
  6. Check to see if the App (and camera) now function normally.

I think your "Smart Phone" is truly a Dumb Phone, if it knows what day it is, but puts a different date for pictures taken!
I suffered a severe head trauma 10 July 1992. I have short-term memory loss. Meaning I can't follow a List of directions!
If Google can't correct the date on pics, they'll have to stay wrong!
Some Smart Phone my daughter got for me!
I truly miss my dumb phone!

I recently enabled google phontos on my iPhone. First backup failed due to lack of stoarge. Now I realize google photos is not what I want.

I have
1. Removed backup and Sync opion on the app
2. Removed the google photos APP from iPhone

But I am still not able to delete those photos only from google photo (leaving it on my device).

This is the problem as i understand.
In the APP I do not see a way to delete only on google photo.
in the browser I am not able to see those backed up photos since the backup is not complete (my understanding).

IF you have deleted the app from your phone AND you have no other device/computer which syncs to Google Photos...
 
1.  Backup the images on the iPhone to a computer using a Lightning cable (this is to be extra careful, you really should not need it but it is easy to do).
 
2. Use a computer and delete images (perhaps starting with Videos):
 
3.  Confirm that nothing was deleted from your iPhone.
 
 
5.  Wait a day, check your Google storage: https://one.google.com/storage
 
It is always a good idea to store important images in more than one place / tool.  My photos are in Google Photos, on my laptop, and on multiple external disk drives (not connected to any computer or network).

Google Photos and ~iCloud Photo Library~ use different approaches to data management and should not be used to backup images simultaneously - doing so can possibly result in lost images..
