Hi Amanda...I just started using Google Photos a couple months ago...still have a lot to learn...but I seem to have lost one of my favorite features!  At first I would get to the screen I have sent you...and in the box under the words "Enhance your photo" there used to be something that looked like a little "wand" or "sparkler"...and if I clicked in the box with the wand/sparkler (!)  Google Photos would do some kind of auto enhance and-- poof! --  my photo would look 100x better!  Bright!  Saturation perfect!  But about a week ago, that little wand thing is gone, and instead there is this thick white line instead.  No matter which way I move the line, it does nothing to enhance photo.  And clicking inside that box now does absolutely nothing.  I have no idea if I accidentally changed a setting or what?  As you can see, without that  "Enhance your photo" feature, my photo looks dark and dull.  (ps. adjusting the lighting helps, but is not nearly as useful as the auto enhance feature)  Thank you, Julie

Please review the following information in case there are any options you haven't yet tried. 

1. Check your online account - photos.google.com

If your photos were successfully uploaded to your online Google Photos account they may be available there. Try visiting photos.google.com and searching for them. If you have more than one Google account, check all of them. 

2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash

Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.

If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos. 

3. Review other options

• if you previously used Picasa, visit picasaweb.google.com and search for your photos. 
• have you made any backups of the photos on your phone, camera, computer, or elsewhere?
• there is a small chance that you can restore the photos using a recover deleted photos app (Android). I haven't used them myself so have no specific recommendations. There may well be more app options if you visit the appropriate app store and try other search terms. I don't see any similar apps on the iOS store, but you could check yourself. 
• you can contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Use the Google Drive contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.
• If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.

Thanks for taking the time to write. And yes, do use the feedback option in Photos to make a feature request. Be polite. There are people on the other end working hard to make a good product.

Photos is really designed to maximize AI and ML to search and discover images so people can spend more time taking photos and less time organising.

I appreciate it doesn't fit everyone's workflow. But there are some powerful search capabilities behind the scenes. You can search by date or month. Often the search will suggest months if you scroll down the search area. If you have face recognition available and turned on you could tag team members. Try searching by team name of your images captured with the names clearly visible in the photos. Google Photos may be able to recognize text within an image. Also in the photos main stream you can use pinch or spread gestures to adjust the photo view to make scrolling more manageable.

The steps to take a screenshot vary between phone models & android versions.

 

However, if you have activated OK Google or Hey Google detection on your phone, the easiest way would be to say, "Hey Google take a screenshot". Then the Google assistant will do the work for you. However, once the screenshot is ready, upload that through Google Photos.

 

Nevertheless, the following are the standard methods to take a screenshot.

• Long press the power button & tap on the menu option "Screenshot".
• Press the volume down & power button simultaneously.
• Press the volume down & home button simultaneously.
• Press the power button & home button simultaneously.
• Pull down the notification panel & look for the screenshot option.

You may try all these or refer to the documentation provided by your phone's manufacturer.

Gmail didn't start until 2004, Google Photos 2015 (though you could have uploaded older photos) so maybe you were using a different service prior to 2009 as well.

An image cannot be rotated when the video is already created. Also, please know that the auto-creature pick the photos the way they are backed up to the Google Photos library. 

You might have to edit to rotate the photos in the library and save it for the auto creations to pick them that way.
