Trump Delivers Slap In The Face To Obama With One Hidden Detail During His Visit To China - Duration: 4:02.

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are currently amid their nearly two-week

Asia tour.

At the moment, they are being welcomed on their first official visit to China.

However, with what occurred when they arrived, Trump was effectively able to deliver former

President Barack Obama a figurative slap in the face with one hidden detail during his

visit to China.

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are on the third leg of their Asia tour,

currently visiting China.

After landing in Beijing, the Trumps were able to meet up with Chinese President Xi

Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan.

During their recent dinner together, President Trump was able to get a dig in on Obama with

one hidden detail that will surely make his predecessor's blood boil.

Although former President Barack Obama wanted the world to treat him like royalty, it seems

he never quite got it.

Instead, during the G-20 Summit last year, when he was in Beijing, Obama was treated

the exact opposite – he was "snubbed."

Little did he realize then that it would be the one man he would come to despise, his

replacement, Donald Trump, who would later be treated like royalty.

Upon their arrival, the Chinese government granted the Trumps an opportunity to tour

and be served a rare dinner at the Forbidden City.

The honor to do so has not been "bestowed on a foreign leader since the founding of

the People's Republic of China 68 years ago," according to Daily Caller.

The Forbidden City, a massive palace complex, was the residence of the imperial family for

centuries.

It currently is a world-famous site, which was intentionally shut down for visits between

the leaders of two of the world's most powerful countries.

— TRUMP News 24/7 (@MichaelDelauzon) November 8, 2017

"Xi is going to treat Trump almost like an emperor," Ming Wang, a professor of government

and politics at George Mason University, told CNN.

In fact, he went on to argue that China "will give Trump an exceptional reception, essentially

they'll try to make Trump happy."

How embarrassing is this for Obama? Trump is being treated like royalty, given an honor

that no leader has seen in 68 years.

To add icing to the proverbial cake, Obama was downright "snubbed" — and now, Trump

is being treated in a notably different way.

The two presidents are expected to discuss bilateral trade and North Korea, but there's

no telling yet whether China's treatment of Trump is an indicator that he will help

sway their policies.

Trump has only spoken highly of China's president, who happens to also be China's

strongest leader in decades, making many believe that their conversations will result in a

positive relationship and beneficial outcomes for both countries.

It's truly remarkable how much of a difference we've seen in how our country is treated

on the world stage since Trump took office.

Although the liberal media would like Americans to think that he's an abominable president,

it seems their assessment is based on the fact that they lost because they were wrong

about Hillary Clinton and they were humiliated on election night.

Clearly, Trump was the better candidate, and he's only further proved that with how he

is respected by other leaders.

Obama has unintentionally been knocked down a peg or two by Trump since the current president's

first day in office, and that undoubtedly has to make his blood boil.

No one likes to feel inferior, but considering Obama thought he was royalty during his time

as president, the fact that Trump of all people is really becoming someone who is not only

admired but respected across the world has got to be infuriating.

It feels good to have a President who is seen as a superior leader by even those with their

own power.

Donald Trump confronts North Korea and promises to solve 'ALL the world's problems' - Duration: 5:18.

Donald Trump confronts North Korea and promises to solve 'ALL the world's problems'

During his speech, the President stated that current meetings with President Xi Jinping were "absolutely terrific" as the world leaders discuss issues of North Korea and trade. Trump said: "There can be no more important subject than China-US relations.

I look forward to many years of success and friendship. I believe we can solve almost all of the worlds problems and probably all of them.".

On issues of trade, the firebrand Republican stated, "past administrations allowed it to get so far out of kilter", indicating he is set to take a more aggressive stance in remedying the imbalance between the two superpowers.

The President was positive about his relationship with Mr Jinping by describing the two as having "great chemistry".

The Chinese leader stated that the two nations have "have made important progress this year" and declared he believes "there is a solution to that" with regard to diffusing threats imposed by North Korea.

North Korea and trade are set to be the highest matters on the meeting agenda for the US President, the former has been a key theme with his two prior meetings with leaders in South Korea and Japan.

The news of the positive start made by the President comes after experts recently stated that his demands for China to toughen its stance on North Korea will lead to "no substantial progress" on de-escalating World War 3 threats from the nuclear-armed regime.

The US leader landed in Beijing yesterday for talks with the Asian superpower, including how to avert nuclear conflict on the Korean Peninsula.

White House officials said Mr Trump will ask Mr Xi to make good on his commitments to UN sanctions aimed at squeezing the cash flow to Kim Jong-un's regime and stopping the tyrant's pursuit of more powerful nuclear weapons.

But experts say although the Chinese premier is likely to lavish the President with praise and lay on an elaborate state visit, China will ultimately reject his demands.

Shen Dingli, professor of international studies at Shanghai's Fudan University, said as far as Beijing is concerned, Mr Trump's trip is more about show than substance. He told The Times: "For North Korea, there won't be any substantial progress.

"It will be brought up but nothing will come out of it.

"And the North Korea nuclear issue is one single problem that will hurt US-China relations." Mr Trump was treated to a personal tour of Beijing's Forbidden City by Mr Xi on the first day of his stopover in China yesterday.

But Mr Shen added the preferential treatment was just part of a "show of Chinese culture" aimed at building mutual respect, rather than a signal the Chinese leader is willing to agree to any the President's demands.

Ahead of Mr Trump's arrival in the Chinese capital, a senior White House official told reporters on Air Force One the President would ask Mr Xi to commit to continue enforcing international sanctions against the rogue state.

The official said during the bilateral talks, Mr Trump would ask China cut all financial links with Kim's oppressive regime.

But Beijing said it was already "fully and strictly" upholding UN sanctions, which are aimed at restricting Kim's cash flow and hampering his nuclear weapons programme.

And She Yinhong, professor of international studies at Renmin University in the Chinese capital, said Beijing would be unwilling to toughen its stance any further.

He said: "China's sanctions against Pyongyang have been unprecedented in terms of scope and severity and now China no longer has the capability, nor the willingness, to further sanction North Korea.".

'He will build the wall' Advisor backs President Trump and attacks Congress for delays

Backing the US President's record, one year on from his astounding election victory over Hillary Clinton, political commentator Mica Mosbacher blamed Washington for the delay in building the wall.

Speaking on Newsnight she said: "He will build a wall, it will go through Congress." Building a border wall with Mexico was a key promise of Trump's election campaign that saw him shock the world as he became President of the United States.

But a year on from his election victory work has not begun on the border wall which remains a popular policy with his base.

During his campaign, Trump said: "I will build a great wall – and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me --and Ill build them very inexpensively.

I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words." Although the US President has faced criticism with construction yet to start, several prototypes have been completed.

Ms Mosbacher: "There are prototypes underway right now for a wall, we do still have to get funding through Congress." The advisor attacked the Congress and the Senate for failing to get behind the policies that helped the Trump to the White House.

She said: "I will say as a Republican, I along with many Republicans, and Republican donors am extremely frustrated with our do-nothing Congress and especially the Senate for the fact that we did not pass Obamacare repeal.

"There is only so much the President can do, but what I feel he has done lately that is very important for this country is he is trying to reach across the aisle and that is how you get the best legislation in this country." Six companies submitted designs between 18 and 30 feet high, with the construction of eight prototypes completed in October.

Testing of the walls began earlier this month with an unnamed private company attempting to discover weaknesses in the designs.

The author of Fantasyland: How America Went Haywire, Kurt Andersen claimed in 2016 Trump sensed America was weak enough for him to win.

He said: "I do think he understood it in some visceral sense that now was the time after having flirted with the idea of running for President for 30 years that it could work.

"That America's sense of reality versus fiction had become iffy enough that he had a chance." Newsnight presenter Emily Maitlis claimed that suggestion was far-fetched and that "Trump believed his own reality".

Andersen said: "He lies and he believes… He simply has no fixed commitment to factual empirical reality".

President Trump Vows To Solve Seth Rich Murder - TODAY NEWS - Duration: 4:14.

President Trump has demanded to be given all the available evidence about the suspicious

death of DNC employee Seth Rich and is determined to get to the bottom of the unsolved murder.

President Donald J. Trump loves tackling the establishment's dirtiest secrets head-on.

He spent much of Barack Obama's eight years in office suggesting that the president had

been born outside the United States.

That claim, with its obvious truthful overtones, raised Trump's profile with the patriotic

wing of the Republican Party, giving him the necessary credibility to launch a presidential

campaign in 2015.

During the Republican presidential primary, he suggested that the father of Senator Ted

R. Cruz, the Republican from Texas, was involved in the assassination of President John F.

Kennedy.

Later yet, after his Republican foes had been vanquished, he dropped a truth bomb when he

charged that Hillary Clinton, "meets in secret with international banks to plot the

destruction of U.S. sovereignty in order to enrich these global financial powers, her

special interest friends and her donors."

When Wikileaks released the Podesta campaign emails, Hillary Clinton could no longer lie

her way out of trouble.

The whole country found out that Trump was right – Hillary was the Wall Street candidate,

secretly colluding with banking elites to enrich her family at the expense of almost

everyone else.

Trump's statement suggested an affinity for devastating truth bombs that would be

difficult for a 71-year-old to temper, even if his newfound political power may have called

for a more restrained approach to getting the truth out there, by hook or by crook.

Trump has carried the truther mind-set into the Oval Office, tweeting about illegal Obama

wiretaps of Trump Tower and worrying about Deep State coups against his administration.

It comes as no surprise, then, that the president might be interested in the case of Seth Rich,

which has animated the truther movement with its dark hints of global conspiracy.

Rich was a 27-year-old employee of the Democratic National Committee who was killed as he walked

home from a bar early in Washington, D.C., on the morning of July 10, 2016.

Twelve days later, when WikiLeaks published those Podesta campaign emails, nobody could

deny anymore that Clinton was a ruthless political savant, operating on the very edge of the

law – on a good day.

On a bad day?

Ask Seth Rich's parents.

There were clearly nefarious forces at work.

Seth Rich was shot twice, but his belongings, including an expensive watch, cell phone and

necklace, as well as $2000 in cash, were not taken.

Despite the streets of D.C. being patrolled 24/7 by surveillance cameras, not a single

suspect was identified by law enforcement.

Julian Assange never divulges the identify of whistleblowers that submit material to

WikiLeaks, but he hinted strongly that the deceased Rich was behind the DNC leak.

There is a mountain of circumstantial evidence to support this claim, and the news that President

Trump has decided to get to the bottom of the mystery is welcome news to believers in

truth and justice everywhere.

There is absolutely zero evidence that Russian hackers stole Clinton's emails because they

sought to have Trump elected.

While mainstream media continues pushing Hillary Clinton's sore loser conspiracy theory,

the entire nation is suffering under the burden of lies and misdirection.

It's time to move on.

Seth Rich's involvement in the DNC scandal proves Trump had no collusion with Russia.

Even more disturbingly, this narrative suggests that Rich was murdered by Democratic operatives

wanting to punish him for his anti-Clinton act of sabotage.

There are murderers on the loose and they need to be locked up where they belong, not

participating in federal politics.

Liberals Protest Trump On Election Anniversary, Couldn't Hide One Thing In Background - TODAY NEWS - Duration: 4:50.

Liberals recently gathered in cities across the nation in hopes of looking upward and

screaming hopelessly at the sky.

Of course, this was supposed to be an enormous demonstration against President Donald Trump

on the first anniversary of his election, but things would go horribly wrong – and

it all boils down to the one thing showing in the background that the protesting leftists

couldn't hide for the life of them.

The left really has no dignity remaining at this point.

In fact, they continue to prove this day after day as they're still whining about the election,

even though it's been done and over with for an entire year now.

Of course, they did their best to reverse the results but were unsuccessful in doing

so.

Sadly, this has only resulted in more pathetic and desperate tactics in order to delegitimize

Trump's presidency, but like everything else they try, they're miserably failing.

Proving just that is what they tried to do in order to show the world just how much Trump

is hated by announcing plans to hold a nationwide protest.

This is a list of "scream helplessly at the sky" events.

If you're near any of them, please get good video.

This promises to be the most hilarious political event in the history of this or any country.

— Ed Harrell (@ed_harrell) November 8, 2017 In all, the goal was to pack cities full of

protesters who were supposed to "scream helplessly at the sky" just as we saw on

both election day back in 2016 and his inauguration in January this year.

As you may remember, liberal idiots made complete and utter fools of themselves, pulling stunts

like the one seen below:

An anti-Trump protester screams 'no' as Donald Trump is sworn in as the 45th US President

— ITV News (@itvnews) January 20, 2017 Too bad for them, their most recent attempt

at attention didn't exactly go according to plan, and it didn't really come as much

of a surprise.

Even worse yet, it seems that there was something in the background of the photos and videos

taken by whining leftists that they didn't want the country to see – the "droves"

of protesters who were supposed to show up were nowhere to be found.

According to American News 24/7, one picture is all you need to demonstrate just how many

people were interested in making fools of themselves.

In fact, it seems that the "scream helplessly at the sky" event was a complete failure

as virtually no one showed up.

We have 2 screamers on Scene.

The resistance is strong I️ tell you — Joe Biggs (@Rambobiggs) November 8, 2017

Fortunately, for the morons in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 5 demonstrators showed up unlike

the two that grouped together in Texas.

Although the event was scheduled to take place for an hour, the screaming buffoons let out

one little shriek before retreating out of nothing more than utter embarrassment:

Today in Weird Philly: a handful of people showed up for a semi-viral event to "scream

helplessly at the sky" on the anniversary of Trump's election (including a couple

dozen gleeful Young Republicans, handing out earplugs)

— Aubrey Whelan (@aubreyjwhelan) November 8, 2017

As if that wasn't bad enough, reports indicate that there were actually more Republicans

at the event as a couple dozen showed up to hand out earplugs to everyone nearby.

Ranging anywhere from just 2 or 5 to a couple dozen protesters at most, it seems that the

left once again misinterpreted the interests of their party.

It doesn't take a genius to see that the left hates Trump, but it seems that not everyone

is near as invested in their useless demonstrations.

After all, these morons didn't do a lick of good and actually came out worse after

showing off just how low they're willing to stoop.

Most people learn how to handle their emotions before adulthood, but the entitled brats of

the left seem to cast social norm aside when it comes to letting the world know just how

"offended" they are.

A little word to the wise – liberals may want to get themselves under control because

all they're doing is alienating themselves from the common sense individuals who could

actually get things done for their party.

At the end of the day, no one wants to align themselves with a bunch of child-like adults

who scream and throw temper tantrums when they don't get their way.

In fact, that was exactly proven during their "nationwide" protest, seeing how, well,

no one really showed up.

Trump and Putin meet TODAY in second showdown to stop North Korea nuclear CATASTROPHE - Duration: 8:24.

Trump and Putin meet TODAY in second showdown to stop North Korea nuclear CATASTROPHE

The world will be watching closely when Trump and Putin face each other for another round of crunch talks on the sidelines of the APEC economic summit in Vietnam.

The two powerful world leaders first met in July at the G20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany, where they chatted for more than two-hours about international affairs.

Since then situation has changed dramatically, with both presidents facing up to problems that are challenging their leadership on a domestic and global level.

For Trump, the most pressing international issue is the tense standoff with North Korea, whose nuclear and missile programmes he deems a threat to the US and its allies.

Trump has made piling pressure on North Korea dictator Kim Jong-un a key focus of his marathon 13-day tour of the Asia-Pacfic region.

During an unusually measured speech in Seoul, South Korea, Trump called on world leaders to "act now" to help curb North Korea's nuclear programme.

Now, just days later, his highly symbolic showdown with Putin could be a defining moment of his presidency, foreign affairs experts told Daily Star Online.

Aside from threats of military action, the Trump administration has been pushing UN members, chiefly Russia and China, to back tougher sanctions against North Korea.

Yet Moscow has been supplying North Korea, or DPRK, with resources, namely oil – key its economy and nuclear programme.

"Russia has been supplying DPRK with resources and technical support, which helps mitigate the US sanctions while still allowing DPRK to continue developing its nuclear system," said Dr Alina Polyakova, foreign policy expert at The Brookings Institution.

"Putin could put a stop to this."  .

"War [would cause] a humanitarian disaster of unprecedented scope. " Robert Amsterdam, international attorney Because Putin has "no interest in regime change", Trump has to convince him to cut off oil supplies, Dr Polyakova told Daily Star Online.

Devoid of resources such as oil, North Korea would face economic collapse, meaning its nuclear programme would be starved of funds needed to advance.

Robert Amsterdam, international attorney and foreign affairs expert, told Daily Star Online said Trump faces an uphill battle to decipher Putin's real motives when it comes to North Korea.

"Vladimir Putin is a masterful media performer, often saying nothing that he means, while meaning nothing that he says," he said. "It is possible for Russia to make statements on North Korea that are both true but disingenuous..

But the costs of failing to get Putin onside are high, Amsterdam said, not least because of the grave threat of war.

"If the conflict with North Korea were to escalate to war we would see a humanitarian disaster of unprecedented scope and breadth that would obligate us all to act as allies," he said.

Short of military action, Amsterdam said, Trump's main goal should be to convince Putin to halt oil exports to North Korea.

"We have already seen that Moscow is undercutting the effectiveness of sanctions by smuggling oil and other supplies to North Korea – such an informal role could continue," he said.

"Increasing pressure on North Korea and China remains the best course of action, and remaining steadfast, committed, and consistent across the broadest range of partners that is possible.".

Should Trump fail to prevent war breaking out on the Korean Peninsula, Amsterdam warned of "catastrophic casualties and a reshaping of the entire region".

"No matter what comes next, the absorption of 25 million malnourished victims of the Kim regime would make the reunification of Germany look like a circus sideshow by comparison," he added.

The Kremlin has confirmed that Putin will chat to Trump about some of the most "pressing issues" facing the world, including the situation on the Korean peninsula.

"Putin is very important because they can help us with North Korea," Trump told Fox News last weekend ahead of his Asia trip.

The Syria war and the conflict in Ukraine are also widely expected to be at the top of the agenda. Yet the exact details of the meeting have been vague.

Much has been made of the budding relationship between the pair, two straight-talking millionaires with celebrity status on an international scale. During the 2016 US election campaign, Trump expressed admiration for the Russian hard man, complimenting him for being a "smart guy".

Since Trump's shock election win, allegations of "collusion" with the Kremlin have been leveled at a handful of his senior aides, family members and associates.

Last week George Papadopoulos, a former foreign policy advisor to Trump, was found guilty of making false statements to FBI agents about his contact with the Russian government.

He lied about the dates he met a mysterious Kremlin-linked London professor who claimed to "have dirt" on Hilary Clinton. Given Papadopoulos was charged just a week ago, Trump's meeting with Putin may raise some eyebrows in Washington.

Some White House insiders are reportedly concerned about the timing of the meeting, which looks fishy. "Moscow pulls this s*** every time even though we haven't agreed to s***. It's outrageous," one official told BuzzFeed News.

Putin and Trump showdown meeting to solve North Korea crisis CONFIRMED - Duration: 4:08.

Putin and Trump showdown meeting to solve North Korea crisis CONFIRMED

Putin and Trump are scheduled to have a face-to-face meeting at the PAC Summit in Vietnam, which takes place between November 10 and 11.

The powerful world leaders are due to discuss a range of global issues, including the nuclear crisis engulfing North Korea.   Trump will meet the Russian President as part of his marathon 13-day tour of the Asia-Pacific region.

During the trip, Trump made a speech in South Korea urging world leaders to act now to stop North Korea threatening millions and millions of lives with its nuclear weapons.

Speaking on Wednesday, Yury Ushakov, Putins aide for international affairs, said the time of the meeting is currently being agreed on.

"The relevant offices are trying to choose an appropriate timing." Yury Ushakov, Putins aide for international affairs The offices of Trump and Putin are working together to arrange a suitable time and place for the meeting to take place, he said.

"Both Putin and Trump have extensive plans for bilateral meetings, which have been agreed upon long beforehand, he said.

There is also the APEC summit program, so the relevant offices are trying to choose an appropriate timing and format.  Talking to Fox News last week, Trump described Putin as being very important to the situation in North Korea and other countries facing turmoil.

"Putin is very important because they [Russia] can help us with North Korea. They can help us with Syria. We have to talk about Ukraine," Trump said.

North Korea has been a major focus of Trumps tour of Asia, which has included stops in Japan, South Korea and China.

Trump visited South Korea for meetings with President Moon Jae-in and visit to the infamous DMZ, which was later cancelled. In his final speech before leaving, he warned North Korea not to test the US.

"I hope I speak not only for our countries, but for all civilized nations, when I say to the North: Do not underestimate us, and do not try us, he said.

And in typically explosive fashion, Trump last night tweeted a terrifying threat against North Korea – warning Kim Jong-un has made a fatal miscalculation. .

Trump met Putin for the first time at the G20 Summit of world leaders in Hamburg, Germany in July. The pair, who enjoyed a positive chemistry, chatted for more than two hours about Syria, Ukraine and tackling terrorism.

Since then, the crisis engulfing North Korea has deepend, with US officials confirmed Kim Jong-un is working on a new missile capable of reaching the US.

At the summit, Trump threatened to totally destroy North Korea if forced to do so in an apocalyptic speech.

Trump: I won't let U.S. be "taken advantage of anymore" on trade - Duration: 3:33.

Trump: I won't let U.S. be "taken advantage of anymore" on trade

DANANG, Vietnam -- Hours after leaving Beijing, President Trump delivered what appeared to

be a sharp rebuke to China Friday, declaring he won't allow the U.S. to be "taken advantage

of anymore" when it comes to trade.

He pledged to always "put America first."

Speaking at a gathering of CEOs at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Vietnam, Mr.

Trump said, "From this day forward, we will compete on a fair and equal basis."

"We are not going to let the United States be taken advantage of anymore.

I am always going to put America first," he said.

Mr. Trump said the U.S. would make a deal with any country in the Indo-Pacific region,

but only one with "mutual respect and mutual benefit."

Even though he was addressing a meeting at the summit of Asia-Pacific nations, he kept

using the term "Indo-Pacific," and brought up how important India is.

It was a striking change of tone from the day before, when Mr. Trump set aside his previous

blistering rhetoric in favor of friendly overtures to China as he sought to flatter his host

into establishing a more balanced trade relationship, rather than lecturing.

In Beijing, Mr. Trump criticized the "very one-sided and unfair" relationship between

the U.S. and China.

But unlike his approach during the presidential campaign, when he castigated China for what

he contended were inappropriate trade practices, Mr. Trump said Thursday he didn't blame the

Chinese for having taken advantage of the U.S. in the past.

Mr. Trump said China "must immediately address the unfair trade practices" that drive a "shockingly"

large trade deficit, along with barriers to market access, forced technology transfers

and intellectual property theft.

"But I don't blame China," he said.

"After all, who can blame a country for being able to take advantage of another country

for the benefit of its citizens?"

To applause, Mr. Trump said, "I give China great credit."

Mr. Trump also said Friday the whole world was being lifted by America's economic renewal,

and that a "new optimism" has swept across the U.S. since his election.

Mr. Trump said he'd had the pleasure of sharing the "good news from America" everywhere he's

been on his first official visit to Asia.

"The whole world is lifted by America's renewal," he said.

On North Korea, Mr. Trump said the region must not be held hostage to a dictator's "twisted

fantasies of violent conquest and nuclear blackmail."

He was referring to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Mr. Trump referenced his address in South Korea earlier this week when he called on

countries to unite against Pyongyang.

He said "every single step the North Korea regime takes toward more weapons is a step

it takes into greater and greater danger."

Mr. Trump also says civilized people must "come together" to drive out terrorists and

extremists from our societies.

He was speaking shortly after arriving in this coastal city for the summit after a flight

from Beijing as he continued his Asia tour.

Trump Granted Special Honor Chinese Have Bestowed on No Other President - TODAY NEWS - Duration: 3:54.

On Wednesday, as part of his trip to China, President Trump became the first U.S. president

to receive a dinner inside Beijing's Forbidden City, the New York Daily News reported.

"President Trump is being treated like a royal during his visit to China, and received

a rare dinner inside the country's most famed imperial palace," the newspaper noted.

"Trump arrived in Beijing on Wednesday as part of his 12-day tour of Asia, and was greeted

by a small army of children waving American and Chinese flags as part of an elaborate

welcoming ceremony."

According to WKOW-TV, no foreign leader has received a dinner inside the palace in 68

years — since the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The Forbidden City is an elaborate palace complex that served as the seat of the Imperial

Chinese Dragon Throne from 1420 to 1912.

It was built after Emperor Zhu Di moved the capital of the Chinese empire from Nanjing

to Beijing.

Constructed over a period of 14 years, it required a million workers to complete.

When the Republic of China came into being in the early 20th century, the Forbidden City

ceased to be the seat of government.

In 1925, parts of it became a museum.

While a state dinner in the Forbidden City is unheard of for a U.S. president, it is

worth noting that during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the United States

earlier this year, President Trump took him to Mar-a-Lago, a stately residence of slightly

more recent provenance.

I guess Xi was just returning the favor.

Fatuous jokes aside, the state dinner had obvious political implications.

In the past month, Xi has been in the process of one of the most impressive consolidations

of power in China since the Mao years.

In mid-October, the Chinese leader presided over the 19th Party Congress — a gathering

that, in a country where democracy is non-existent, serves in its decisiveness as the dictatorial

version of election night.

It was the first Party Congress Xi chaired, and, as The Economist noted, "(t)he test

will reveal whether he is a rule-breaker or a rule-keeper."

Xi definitely went the rule-breaker route.

At the Congress, he introduced "Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics

for a New Era."

That sounds more snoozeworthy than a cricket match on rain delay, but much like Ron Burgundy,

it's kind of a big deal.

A Chinese leader putting his name on a program that guides Beijing's future development

both nationally and internationally is almost unprecedented since Mao, and the fact that

it's mostly accepted by the party faithful has made Xi the most powerful Chinese ruler

in decades.

Or, as Trump put it more succinctly, "Now some people might call him the king."

Now that he's consolidated power at home, smoothing things over abroad is Xi's next

big challenge, particularly when it comes to the United States.

Trump has repeatedly called out China on trade and its relationship with North Korea, both

issues that could destabilize Xi's hold on power in the long term should things get

ugly.

Thus, the royal welcome and the state dinner inside the Forbidden City, a historical site

of considerable pride for a country known for considerable nationalism makes sense.

That's probably not going to make anyone in the Trump administration forget about Beijing's

on-again-off-again relationship with Pyongyang or its trade policies — but if flattery

won't get China everywhere in this case, one guesses Xi and his retinue hope it will

at least get them somewhere.

Trump brings up trade deficit problem during Asian tour - Duration: 2:37.

U.S. President Donald Trump is en route to Vietnam for the fourth... and penultimate

leg... of his Asia tour.

Most watchers believe his stops in Japan, South Korea and China were successful,...

with Trump able to make gains and calm anxieties on the North Korea issue.

He also seems to have made some headway on trade,... a subject particularly close to

his heart.

Kim Mok-yeon reports.

Even before he embarked on his tour of Asia, the U.S. President stressed that trade and

North Korea's nuclear provocations would be at the top of his agenda.

After he landed in Japan, receiving a warm welcome from Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, he

did not hesitate to bring up the topic of Washington's trade partnership with Tokyo.

President Trump said that the two countries need to do more to come up with a fair trade

deal for both sides as the U.S. has suffered massive trade deficits with Japan.

(ENGLISH) Edit No1042 "We want fair and open trade but right now

our trade with Japan is not fair and it's not open but I know it will be soon."

During his stay, Trump said the two leaders were also able to reach a deal where Japan

will buy large amounts of American military equipment, which he referred to as the best

in the world.

In South Korea, Trump stressed the importance of the South Korea-U.S. alliance, especially

in tackling North Korea's acts of provocation.

He said that South Korea will be ordering more U.S. military equipment, which will help

America to reduce its trade deficit and at the same time help both countries defend themselves

from North Korea's threats.

(ENGLISH) Edit No3055 "..we have the greatest military equipment

in the world.

And South Korea will be ordering billions of dollars of that equipment, which, frankly,

for them makes a lot of sense.

And for us, it means jobs; it means reducing our trade deficit with South Korea."

During Trump's stay in China, President Xi Jinping announced that Beijing and Washington

signed trade deals worth more than $253 billion U.S. dollars

(ENGLISH) Edit No4102 "..our relationship with you and China is

a very important one to me, and to all of the people of our country.

And just by looking at the tremendous, incredible job-producing agreements just signed by those

major companies, we're off to a very, very good start."

After talks on trade, President Xi said that China is willing to increase imports of energy

and farm produce from the United States, and that it hopes the United States will increase

exports of technology for civilian use to China as well.
