What's up guys
I'm here to bring you a recap of the legendary chess match
played between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton
from their presidential match of last year.
Now before I show you the match,
I'll give you a quick overview of the players and their playing styles.
First we have Donald Trump with the white pieces.
Trump shocked the chess world as an unheard-of player
who not only beat 16 of his Republican opponents simultaneously,
But beat them in an absolutely unpredictable aggressive like way.
His most spectacular win of course came against Jeb Bush,
who me check mated with four nights in the middle of the board.
Quite brutal.
Before the match many spectators and fellow players
thought that Trump's style of play wasn't up to standard with the general
experience and theory of someone like Hillary Clinton,
However will soon see how that unfolded.
Hillary Clinton on the other hand was the outright favorite.
She became the first female chess player to reach the U.S. Presidential Championship match
However, she was also quite a controversial player.
Her style of play could change drastically, one moment
She would use the Dutch defense religiously and the next she would say it's the worst defense.
Along the way
She's getting many supporters and enemies for her personality on and off the board.
Before the match started there was speculation
that Clinton was using a chess engine on a private server.
However on July 5th
she was cleared and able to play in the match.
Nonetheless, she'd been coached from some of the best in the business,
and has been playing from young age.
Now with all that in mind,
let me go to the match that was played between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton
July 21st Trump with the white pieces. Starts off with e4
Clinton replies with e5 on July 28th
instead of the usual Kings gambit by Trump
He opts instead for Nf3 and after Nc6, Bb5, Nf6
we have the Berlin defense
A line with tons of theory that if Trump goes into
Would result in a long, piece maneouvering grind
one which without theory would result in a definite loss for Trump
So what's to keep the game on his own terms
He plays d3 after Bc5, 0-0, Huma Abedin on August 29th
Hillary's advisor for the match decides to divorce her husband Anthony Weiner
after it was alleged he was sexting a fifteen-year-old girl
This affected the campaign and probably under duress Clinton played the odd move Qe7
two days later on August 31st
Trump meets with the President of Mexico
And plays c3. He's on the right track
preparing d4 and punishing Clinton's last move
after a6, Ba4, b5, Bc2, d6, Trump plays h3
He's playing a lot more conservative than he used to
however, some are saying that he could have continued with his old-style
play d4 straight away nonetheless
It's clear that Trump has changed his style of play to a more patient less aggressive manner
Here however, on September 9th
Clinton calls Trump supporters deplorables, and plays h6
This move seems fairly harmless to much of the chess community and analysts
however will soon see how this would be one of the factors
to Trump's victory and Clinton's demise
Trump continues his plan he plays d4
Clinton faints at the September 11th memorial service and retreats back to b6 slightly less accurate than a7
Trump pushes d5 and the knight goes back to b8 on September 21st
and Clinton questions why she isn't 50 points ahead
Off the board Clinton's health is being questioned
with many saying that she's not fit enough to play in the match
However, Clinton insists that she's fine, and she believes that she has the better position
It looks like Trump is doing better than expected so far
Here he continues his straightforward play with a4
Showing his ability to play on all areas of the board
as you'll see Trump will use his theme of traveling across the country
More throughout this match
whereas Clinton who currently has her pieces in a rather passive and insignificant position
will not travel as much as her opponent
the first debate is held on September 26th and
After Bd7 many people believe that Clinton is doing just fine
Here Trump could have potentially won the debate
with axb5 the reason this is good is because you can't take with the pawn
because it's pinned, you have to take with
the bishop and after Re1
Black has some problems for example if you castle
in comes Na3 the bishop has to go back to a rather
passive square because you're threatening
c4 if a move like Nd7 and instead of castles if straightaway
Nd7 then Na3 actually wins the bishop because of the pin and threatening c4
but Trump didn't go for this and Clinton remained solid
A few days later on October 4th the vice presidential debate happened
with many picking Pence as the winner
However, while things seem to be going okay for Trump and his team on October 7th
They were hit with a table released by The Washington Post
Showing Trump remarking about grabbing women by the pussy and recalling
an account he had with another woman
This off the board incident caused major distress and uproar against Trump
who ended up playing Be3
Clinton exchanged Bishop's left Trump with doubled pawns
a permanent weakness for the rest of the match and
Trump also had to deal with the outside pressure affecting his gameplay
What went under the radar however is that things are as bad as they seem for Trump
While the media is reporting on Trump's
double pawns and loss of advantage what they're not reporting on
are the newly released Podesta emails as shown as this half open f-file
which can be used to Trump's advantage if used properly
Clinton now takes on a4 and on October 9th two days later Trump confronts
his worst position at the second debate
Trump plays Nbd2 developing his last minor piece protecting e4
and hoping to get back into the game with Bishop takes a4
In an intense debate after 0-0, Bxa4, Bxa4, Qxa4
Many spectators and analysts are divided
Trump is not backing down and admitting any sort of concession in his position
Clinton develops her Knight to d7 ready to land on the beautiful square c5
Trump plays b4 and says 'because you'd be in jail'
gaining both wild jubilation and condemnation from the chess world
Trump's position isn't looking too bad anymore
In the days following to the debate Clinton plays Nb6
Trump retreats back to d1
once again showing his ability to traverse across all areas of the board
and with a plan in mind
Trump, probably wants to play Queen e2
threaten the a6 pawn twice where a defense seems quite awkward to come up with
Here Clinton plays Qd7 protecting the pawn if
so be and probably preparing to play c6 the next move
Now we come to the third debate on October 19th
Trump had perhaps a chance to regain his advantage with a move like Nh4
threatening to plant the knight on f5 and using the Podesta emails to help with this
however
Trump did not use the revelation of the Podesta emails effectively and instead
continued with his plan on the Queen side and played the rather dynamic Ra5
After the debate many people were still divided
Trump's position seems to be holding strong and Clinton is still preparing for her breakthrough in the centre
center
The next day comes on October 20th the Alfred E Smith dinner
What began as light-hearted self-deprecating jokes for Trump ended up in an all-out assault on Clinton
Leaving some faces in the crowd stunned at his boldness
Trump is adamant that he's not going down without a fight
Here Clinton should have continued with c6 or Rfc8
However following Trump's provocative, unwavering attitude, Clinton got impatient
and played Nxe4
She hoped to end Trump's chances of winning by eliminating most of the pieces of the board
with an incredibly deep continuation
Nxe4 and Nc4 winning the exchange
That is unless Qa4 is played in that case we'd have Qxa4, Rxa4 and f5 and white's pawns start to fall
While this looks to be risky and is objectively worse for Clinton
she figured that the match was coming to a close and the longer it went on the more defeated and
finally fatigued Trump, and his supporters would become
However she overestimated her position and Trump instead went for something different
he played Qe1
After Nxa5
pawn takes a5, Qa4, Clinton is threatening both the Knight and the pawn
In a way justifying her sacrifice
However now Trump takes one last trip across the country
now shifting his focus to the Kingside
It's at this point on October 28th that the FBI opens a new email program into Clinton
With information supposedly coming from a computer belonging to Anthony Weiner yes him
Clinton's lead drops heavily
And she grows into a deep think
Over a week later on November 6th the FBI state that she's in clear and she decides she can take the pawn
on a5
It's finally come to election day
Clinton and most of the chess world are confident that she can win
she can sit back watch the a-pawn and run down the board
However what she and most others don't know is that with the comment of deplorables on h6
with the Podesta emails on the half open f-file
and with the new email probe and Clinton taking the pawn on a5
with all this in mind, the people went out to vote
And actually right now. It is a forced win for Trump
People just don't know it yet
The voters went out, and they played the incredible the amazing
Nf6+ if Clinton takes then Qxh6
and there is no way to stop checkmate via the Knight coming and
delivering checkmate on g7 along with the Queen
Clinton would have to give up her Queen and would still lose
So she has to go to h8
Now comes the next strike of lightning with Ng5, winning Ohio
Clinton's whole Kingside is completely paralyzed
Absolutely no piece can move without instant checkmate.
It's at this point Clinton and her team start worrying
They played the only move to get back into the game, Qxc3
however they don't realize it's already over
Trump begins his final assault and plays the precise Qe4, winning North Carolina
He's going in for the kill with two different checkmates
The only way to stop it, g6
and now comes the move that shocks the country to its core
Ne6, winning Florida
He wants, Iowa if the Knight's taken then Trump takes
Iowa and after Rxf6, Qxf6+, Kh7, Qf7+, Kh8
Trump takes Wisconsin
And there's no way to stop the pawn Trump wins
Clinton doesn't want to be embarrassed by this and she activates her Rook
But it's a little too late
Trump ends up taking Iowa anyway with a remarkable Ne8!!
Just amazing it's just an avalanche of terror for Clinton
the point is, is that the f7 pawn is more valuable than the Knight itself
If Clinton takes the Knight, then Rxf7, if Rxe6 after dxe6
There's no way to stop the pawn for example
Rg8, e7, Qb3
Rf8, Qe6, Rxg8 if
Clinton takes with the Queen then the accurate Qc6 wins
and if Clinton takes with the king then
Trump takes one last trip to a8 and
checks and wins
After Rxf7 if Rg8 then the accurate
Qh4 wins probably even more brutally for example Qxe3, Kh2 and trump wins
So Clinton tried one last shot
she wins Nevada, and she plays Rb3
However she misses the point Trump finishes off in style
you can pause the video if you like...ready?
Trump plays the amazing
Qxg6, winning Wisconsin
Here Clinton had enough and she called Trump and resigned
However, here's how it would have ended
Qxe3+ for example Kh1 and after the Queen is taken Rf8+
the Podesta emails come in and after Kh7
then Nf6# the voters win with checkmate
amazing
A game of imbalances a solid Clinton
self-capitulates into a stunning loss and Trump out of nowhere
recovers and with the help of his opponent fights back and finishes the match in style
On Election Day Trump left it up to the voters who initiated the final attack
with resignation being forced on the day of the election
And with the help of all of his resources
Clinton on the other hand was left stranded, relying only on her queen
On one side of the board and what she thought was a safe Kingside
perhaps if she hadn't overestimated her position
or been so careless in giving away her advantage or had been self critical enough
In her mistakes, then things might have gone differently
Regardless, Trump wins after Qxg6, winning Wisconsin
one of the more spectacular and unpredictable chess matches in a long time
Bye for now and good luck with your chess
