Is a scam going around with photo links? I received a call from a lady (vulgar & inappropriate), where she left a VM adamant that I view the photos she was sending me. Prior to her call, I remembered I had received a text saying someone had shared a Google photos link with me. I didn't click on it, because I suspected a scam, but was curious if this was going around?

I suggest you edit your User ID to remove the email address which is currently visible to the general public:

1. Select the My Profile link at the top of the page. 
2. Click the pencil icon to the right of your User ID. 
3. Remove your email address. 
4. Use the tick icon to confirm the changes. 

Please review the following information in case there are any options you haven't yet tried to recover your photos. 

1. Check your online account - photos.google.com

If your photos were successfully uploaded to your online Google Photos account they may be available there. Try visiting photos.google.com and searching for them. If you have more than one Google account, check all of them. 

2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash

Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.

If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos. 

3. Review other options

• if you previously used Picasa, visit picasaweb.google.com and search for your photos. 
• have you made any backups of the photos on your phone, camera, computer, or elsewhere?
• there is a small chance that you can restore the photos using a recover deleted photos app (Android). I haven't used them myself so have no specific recommendations. There may well be more app options if you visit the appropriate app store and try other search terms. I don't see any similar apps on the iOS store, but you could check yourself. 
• you can contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Use the Google Drive contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.
• If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.

The Article About This Issue ... Might Help You.If you want to get a deleted item back, check your trash to see if you can get it back. Photos or videos that you previously backed up and then deleted are kept in your Trash for 60 days.

 

Can't see the photo or video? If a deleted photo or video is not in the trash, you cannot restore it. You cannot restore the photo in the following cases:

 

If you moved the photo to the trash more than 60 days ago. If you moved the photo to the trash and emptied your trash. If you permanently deleted the photo from the trash. If you have permanently deleted the photo from your device's Gallery app without backing it up.

I figured I would just get a new phone and transfer all of my accounts and everything would be fine, maybe complain a little bit about the camera quality, but that's it. 

Instead, I remembered that I had 2fa (two-factor authentication, Google Authenticator) on an app that I use[d] daily after trying to log into said app and being rejected. 

I thought it would be no big deal, but I reached out to the third party app and they said that they cannot help me, and something tells me that Google is not going to be able to help me either. I went through all of my Google photos trying to see if I screenshotted and synced my backup codes from the app i am locked out of, and also if I had a QR code from Google authentication (I didn't), to no avail. 

I have had this google account since 2014, so I could verify that I am the original owner if necessary, I also could identify myself with my current and backup email and phone number and all of that "fun stuff" if that's necessary too..

I would really appreciate any help for getting some assistance with my Google authentication app mishap. :( Thanks!
