The Google Photos application does not duplicate images so that if you sync certain images will not

Question: The Google Photos application does not duplicate images so that if you sync certain images will not

Images are repeated which consumes available storage

They may not using extra storage if your setting is on High Quality in the app or on the web.
But they are extremely irritating because they are not exact duplicates and then you have to decide which one of the pairs can be deleted by comparing their metadata like shown below on https://photos.google.com

However: you need to analyse the source, because you must have used a wrong method causing additional syncing. Without exact information of your workflow, we can't try to help.
And there is no Google here.
Sorry

I have a new phone with a large SD card and I want to backup my Google cloud pics to it. It's just not a fan of trusting a cloud with my family Memories.

Answer:

Hi, carrie blackmarr

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

You can either download the pics to the phone memory & then move to the SD card.

Or, you can arrange for a bulk download by visiting the link https://takeout.google.com/.
Select the Google Photos app for data download.
Once the file is ready, you will get an email. Access that & unzip all the attachments on your SD card.

Hating the preparing backup even after good internet it's not backing up.

Probably your iPhone is hindering: allow background operation in the general settings for apps and switch-off battery saving. And there also can be some corrupted video obstructing: check photos.google.com in Safari how far your backup is build.
Good luck

Question: how can I recover a deleted video from google photos on pixel 2

How can I recover video deleted from pixel 2 connected to google photos

Hello Sneha,

I'm sorry, but the photos can't be restored if the trash is emptied.

Don't see the photo or video?
If something isn't in your trash, it can't be restored. You won't be able to restore a photo if:
  • You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago
  • You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash
  • You permanently deleted it from your trash

Source:  See if you can restore deleted photos and videos

But there is maybe a small chance that you can recover the photos, you can try to use a recover deleted photos app.

Greetings from Ann

Because downloading bulks is quite complicated and not needed for incidental photos needed for poor texting instead of direct sharing via Google Photos. You will have fresh photos in gallery soon enough.

Hi Deloris Ward,

Welcome to Google Photos help forum.

Open the photo you want to rotate using Google Photos app. In the bottom you could see icons where you have to choose the second icon which is for Edit (the icon that looks like tuning)

In the appearing screen, choose crop. In this crop you'll have option to rotate your image and save.

I hope that helps. Thank you.

Question: I want last year and this year photos

Back up photos 2017 & 2018

Hi Mamatha,

Welcome to the Google Photos Help Forum.

Could you please confirm what exactly are you referring to when you say back up photos? It would also be better if you can share a screenshot with me so that I can take it forward. Also, redact any personal information while sharing the screenshot.

Therefore, could you please confirm if you can find out the photos through the web version of Google Photos? If not, I recommend checking the below options to find out the videos:
  • Blogger
  • YouTube
  • Gmail
  • Google+
If you don't find the photos, I recommend looking for the photos using the below links:
For more information, please check the Help Center Article on finding missing photos & videos.

Hope this helps.

Best,
Emma

Almost two years ago I permanently deleted a lot of my photos by accident. My understanding was that there was no way to recover these, however today my photos account generated new panoramas for me using some of the photos I permanently deleted.
Were these panoramas somehow generated almost two years ago? Or are the photos still in there somewhere? I would be absolutely stoked if I could recover any of the original photos.
Thanks!

Answer:

Hi Cameron Frost,

Welcome to Google Photos help forum.

That's strange. Anyways there are high chances that the panorama got created two years ago and it showed up in memories now.

Did you happen to check if you could see your photos at https://photos.google.com?

Nothing really, because I don't know what to do.

Hi Garry Waller,

Welcome to Google Photos help forum.

I don't think that is because of Google Photos. When you upload a video to Facebook or any network for that matter, there might be some considerable amount of compression done before uploading. This could probably be the reason why this is happening.

Please try contacting Facebook support for this matter. Thank you.

Tried turning off WiFI and turning back on. Ever other app is working under WiFI except by backup…eventually it will back up. Only has happened since Google  Photos latest update.

Answer:

Or since Apple's latest update :-)

I only can advise to remove the app, then restart the phone and re-install the Google Photos app and then log-in, but don't switch-on backupping immediately because the app needs time to rebuild its database.
Thereafter you can switch-on backup via settings under your profile.
Good luck

PS: be sure to allow the app for background operation and to switch-off battery saving because uploading modern videofiles is heavy duty.

Question: Needing to transfer ALL the photos back to my gallery

I don't exactly want to delete and recover 5000 images. I have tried to do google some apps that can…

No need to do that because they all can be viewed via the Google Photos app quite comfortable and you can pimch two fingers together to get smaller thumbnails for dayview or monthview.
But of course you are using some messenger and if you need a photo that is not on your phone anymore, you simple open that photo and hit the 3 dots to see the download option. However most of the time you will use freshly shooted photos which are shown in your normal gallery also.
That's all because downloading thousands is much too complicated. Besides: direct sharing via Google Photos is much better because messengers ruïne quality and data.

Answer:

I don't exactly need my photos for messages, I am running out of free storage in google, plus if for skme reason google will crash all my photos will be gone.

Answer:

Google-cloud will not crash, but you easily may cause crashes by wrong behavior.
And running-out of free storage never is a good argument - what is 20 dollar per year for moving your limit to 100 GB instead of 15 GB. That will feel good.
Unless you have a cheaper and safer alternative, but I don't think that this does exist.
And your phone is the most unsafe of all.
Your choice.

PS: if you have a normal computer, you can use Take-out for copying your Photos-content to hard-disc before deleting to make space. But then you should switch-off backup in the app.

Question: I need to free up space on my phone not sure what I can delete n what I can't

I've deleted things like blurry photos

That's not the right way: if your pictures are backupped at Google (check at photos.google.com) you should use the Google Files app in order to delete all photos from 2020 and earlier gradually, starting with the oldest. Then you will see their webcopies instead in the Google-app.
Because you seldom will need these old photos for texting, you rarily may need to download one back to phone. Just get acquinted to Google, because these will survive your phone.

You are confusing us because you are talking about google drive instead of google photos which is totally different. But I assume the latter because you are posting here.
That app always shows your library, but when you don't switch-on automatic backup, you can choose manually what you want to backup towards your private site at photos.google.com within your Gmail-account. You should be aware that you will have a very incomplete backup then if you don't use iCloud in addition.
As far as I know, such selective uploads always will be in somewhat reduced quality for using less space at Google within your 15 GB for free, but I have to check that.

Later addition: the quality of manual upload is still determined by the chosen quality setting under backup.
iPhones often cause an additional quality loss themselves by compressing to heic in order to use less space. But that setting should be avoided for compatibilty reasons: reduced quality at Google retains the original resolution together with less megabytes and that quality is good enough for smartphones.

Question: How to crop a sharechat image

Want to crop a sharechat image

Hi, Sudipto Chakravarty

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

To crop the photo, open that first through Google Photos & then tap edit
Next tap on the option crop.
Adjust the corners to crop the unwanted portion & then save under a new name.

Answer:

Not clear if you want to crop because of getting a smaller file suitable for some unknown app or just want to crop to get better pictures with less fuss around the borders?
Because cropping for getting a smaller filesize in MB's does not make sense - then you have to crop too much.

PS
But you can't save under a new name, but you simply should choose to save as a copy - then the filename is automatically changed a bit because at ~2 is added.

Answer:

Would haved helped if you would have said that immediately - that avoids wrong answers.
We know nothing about such images without any example, because Google Photos itself adds no rubbish automatically.
But if the image is in some folder below "Pictures on device" on the Library-page, you can select it and then select Backup now under the 3 dots.
Then the picture becomes available somewhere between your own pictures on the Photos-page and can be opened and edited.

Question: How to deleted video recovery

Hi Shashikanth, thanks for posting.

Were the photos recently deleted? If so, you should be able to recover them from the trash within Google Photos
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  2. At the bottom, tap Library  Trash .
  3. Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
  4. At the bottom, tap Restore
If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can’t restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:
  • You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
  • You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
  • You permanently deleted it from your trash.
  • You permanently deleted it from your device’s Gallery app, without backing it up first.
On an Android device, there are apps available which claim to be able to "scan" your phone to possibly recover pictures. Use these apps with caution and be sure to thoroughly research before installing on your device.

I hope this helps!

Yes recover deleted photo

Hi, Pradeep Verma 4612

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

However, had you backed up your pics to Google Photos?
Further, did you delete those through Google Photos?
If yes, then you should be finding the deleted pics in the bin, unless you have emptied the bin also?

However, once a user deletes something permanently despite a warning message or allows the content to time out in the bin, Google doesn't maintain any backup.
There is no way to get back the content through Google Photos.

Nevertheless, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to not pick one that requires rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps;
and run a scan for anything to recover.
