Is there a way to make the images in google photos visible to the public so that if I were to type up a search term on google images, the image that I uploaded and shared would be visible?
For example if I had a picture of a cat that I made shareable, then typed up cat, would the picture that I uploaded of said cat appear on images? Or is there something that I am missing?

Answer:

There is not such a feature in Google Photos. You can publish a link to an album on a public site, but I do not think that this makes the photos directly searchable.

Question: Photos No Showing In Chronological Order

 Hello,

I connected a second account to Backup & Sync and started uploading the folders of my Lightroom library to Google Photos at full resolution. I have just under 10,000 photos and I sort my photos by year so I would first add the 2018 folder to sync, then the 2017 folder, then 2016, and so on. Once a folder finishes uploading and the next one is started, I go to check if everything is uploaded just fine. While it mostly seems fine, some of the photos seem out of chronological order despite having the correct time and date. For example, I could have 5 photos shot at 7 PM, and 5 shot at 8 PM on the same day, but some of those 7 PM shots would show up after the 8 PM shots in Google Photos.

I just purchased a new phone. Signed into my Google photos and cannot see photos from May, June and July. Please help me find them and get them back in chronological order.

Answer:

@Laura
You should see them all, but it may take days before they suddenly are "settled".
Don't understand why you just talk about May-July and not about the years with your former phone :-)
Hard to explain better.

Answer:

Hello Rinus,

Thanks for the reply. I think I understand, I will give it a few more days to allow time for the pictures to migrate to my new phone.

By the way, I do care about all the years with my former phone. :)

Laura

Answer:

Thanks for understanding Laura - hope I am right.

Don't clean-up your old phone before everything runs on the new and you can check on photos.google.com in the Chromebrowser if May-July are there.
If not, they were not backupped by your old phone - can't guess about the reason for that.

PS: it is not a question of migration of many gigabytes, but of building a database of thumbnails in the app - that is not needed on a website.

However, regretfully, the video player in Google Photos doesn't offer any control over the playback speed.
You will have to look for some proprietary video player to do so.

I started to sync/backup photos and videos from my Galaxy S10 a few weeks ago to my Google account and noticed the Places and Things albums are empty when viewing Google Photos on my Desktop web browser. Also reflected on the Galaxy App, nothing exists. I also looked for the Group Similar Faces option, but this does not exist in my Google Settings nor in my phone where it has suggested to be. I used Google photos to back up my photos and videos on my IPhone 6.  I have now switched to a Samsung Galaxy s9+ and I can see my pictures but the videos are missing.  Please help.  I have over 200 memories of my kids etc that I want to view on my mobile.

Answer:

Kerri,

Good morning. The device you used to upload or backup pictures and videos to Google Photos doesn't make a difference. So, whether you uploaded pictures from your PC/laptop, iPhone, or Android device, you should be able to see all of them on any device where you're logged into the same Google account.

First thing to check is that you're actually logged into the same Google account on your new Samsung phone. If you are (and assuming that's the account you uploaded your videos to) then your videos should be visible. If they're not there, check the Google Photos website and look for your videos. If your videos are not on the Google Photos website, then they were never actually uploaded to Google Photos (or they were uploaded to a different account that you were signed into on your iPhone).

Let me know if you have more questions about this.

Regards,
~ Greg

Trimming the middle part of a video

Hi, Wandalin Ryntathiang

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

The editor in Google Photos allows to remove frames either from the start or end of a video.

Nevertheless, you can make two copies by trimming till you remove the unwanted content in the middle & then compose a movie using the leftover portions.

I am trying to find any option where I can delete photos from both Google photos and Android Phone with a single command. Currently in Google photos the option to delete photos from phone is separate and the option to delete photos from Google is also separate. Ideally I want to backup photos to Google photos and then selectively delete specific photos from Android phone

Answer:

Hi,

To delete a photo from BOTH your Google Account AND your synced devices:

1. Open Google Photos
2. Long press on the photo to select it
3. Select the trash/bin icon
4. Read the notice that asks to confirm to remove image from your Google Account and synced devices and select move to trash.

To only delete from phone en masse

1. Open Google Photos
2. Select the profile icon in upper right
3. Select the option to free up space

Google will remove locally stored images that it considers backed up.

Please read this help article for more details on managing your photos

Hi, Jo Yeager

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

However, to store the photos on the memory card, you will have to format them as recommended by the manufacturer & then select an appropriate option through the menu in the camera app.

Answer:

Hi,  Jo Yeager

Thanks for your reply

Formatting will remove all the existing data.
But then, you do not want to format, the you will have to take a chance. If the OS on the phone recognises the card, you can start saving the pics on that.

The free up space option never removes content from the device unless a matching backup is there on the cloud.
You will find the video in Google Photos through the search tab.

Once you opt for "Space saver quality" the app will downsize the video.

However, once a user deletes something permanently despite a warning message or allows the content to time out in the bin, Google doesn't maintain any backup.
There is no way to get back the content through Google Photos.

Nevertheless, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to not pick one that requires rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps;

Question: After allowing the face recognization also google is not recognizing my recent faces

Hi, Nikitha C H

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

The face recognition feature is still evolving & is likely to err particularly when faces are either near about or blurry.

Nevertheless, you can correct that manually through the following steps.
  • Tap to open the photo which contains incorrectly identified faces & then slide up or tap the three dots .
  • Tap the edit icon at the extreme right edge. (An icon of a pencil  ). That will show identified faces in square boxes & their thumbnails at the bottom.
  • The ones with a - sign are the identified faces. Tap on that & the face will get transferred to the collection of thumbnails with + sign.
  • Now tap the + sign. Then the app will show you all the identified faces till that time. You can select the right one. Then the photo will get transferred to the right collection.
PS. The edit feature may not be available in some regions. If you happen to be from that, then regretfully nothing can be done.

Question: How do you move pictures to SD card

How do you move pictures to SD card

Hi, Roy Vicory

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

Although there are multiple ways to transfer the content from the internal memory of the phone to an SD card, doing so through Google Photos allows retaining the backup and sync aspect.
Please follow the steps below to achieve the transfer.
  • Open Google Photos.
  • Tab Library.
  • Tap the desired folder under Photos on the device like Camera, Screenshots etc.
  • Select photos by long pressing then tap others after the tick confirms the first selection
  • You can also long-press and stroke down while still in a pressed condition, to select a batch.
  • Next, tap the 3 dot menu top right.
  • Tap Move to folder.
  • Tap New SD folder, type a folder name then tap Create.
Note that if the photos are backed up to Google Photos this will not remove them from the Photos, and even if the new folder is not selected for Backup & sync any contents will still be deleted if you delete that using the Google Photos app.

Answer:

You all keep complaining, but that makes no sense: if you can't find them by following the tips given in Missing photos you can do no more and Google can do no more.

PS: in July 2019 Google has stopped with "syncing" from Photos to Drive if that option was used by you.
So even if you still have a Google Photos folder in Drive when you log-in with the Gmail-account used in those years, you will not find photos later then about July 10, 2019 unless you are lucky.

Answer:

Hello Amit Nikhade ,

If you have uploaded photos on google photos and deleted it please take a look at the below info.

Following is text from the official Google Photos Help page about deleting and restoring photos and videos:

Restore photos & videos
If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it’s there.
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
  2. At the bottom, tap Library  Trash .
  3. Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
  4. At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
    • In your phone’s gallery app
    • In your Google Photos library
    • In any albums it was in
If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.
    Important:
    • If you delete a photo or video that’s backed up in Google Photos, it will stay in your trash for 60 days.
    • If you delete an item from your Android device without it being backed up, it will stay in your trash for 60 days.
    • If you see a photo or video in Google Photos that you think you deleted, it might be on a removable memory card. To delete it, use your device’s gallery app.
    Empty your trash
If you see a request to "Delete permanently" when you try to move an item to trash, your trash is full. Your trash can hold 1.5GB.

Important: If you empty your trash, you permanently delete any items in your trash.

Don't see the photo or video?
If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can’t restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:
    • You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
    • You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
    • You permanently deleted it from your trash.
    • You permanently deleted it from your device’s Gallery app, without backing it up first.
When you attempt to manually empty the trash bin in Google Photos, a warning message box appears that explains you are about to permanently delete those pictures and videos. If you choose to proceed anyway, there is nothing that any of the volunteers in this forum can do to help you recover your pictures.

The information on the following Google Photos Help pages will help you become more familiar with finding, deleting, and restoring your pictures:

If you deleted pictures or videos that were not previously backed up to your account through the Google Photos app, then unfortunately there's nothing that Google or any of the volunteers in this Help Community can do to recover them.

Files that existed only on your phone, ones that were never uploaded to the cloud, cannot be recovered or restored by a cloud storage service. Simply put, Google can't help you recover files it never had in the first place.

    Thanks.
