Question: I have accidentally deleted my photos and videos from google photos permanently

I have accidentally deleted my photos and videos from google photos permanently. Please help me

Hello Lalitha Lally,

Please review the following information in case there are any options you haven't yet tried.

1. Check your online account - photos.google.com
If your photos were successfully uploaded to your online Google Photos account they may be available there. Try visiting photos.google.com and searching for them. If you have more than on
2. Check the trash - photos.google.com/trash
Once you delete photos from your Google Photos account, they're moved to Trash for the next 60 days. If you deleted them by mistake you can always restore them from the Trash folder within those 60 days. Here's the link explaining how to recover them from Trash. If you have more than one Google account, check the trash for all of them.

If you accessed the Trash and manually sent the photos for permanent deletion, or if the 60 days expired, there is no way to recover them from Google Photos

3. Review other options
  • if you previously used Picasa, visit picasaweb.google.com and search for your photos.
  • have you made any backups of the photos on your phone, camera, computer, or elsewhere?
  • there is a small chance that you can restore the photos using a recover deleted photos app (Android). I haven't used them myself so have no specific recommendations. There may well be more app options if you visit the appropriate app store and try other search terms. I don't see any similar apps on the iOS store, but you could check yourself.
  • you can contact the Google Drive support team to see if any deleted files may be recovered. Use the Google Drive contact form, click Missing or deleted files, select a contact option, and be sure to tell them you permanently deleted files in Google Drive.
  • If you ever shared the photos with anyone else, it's possible they may have a copy they could share back or send to you.
 Thanks.

I have a few Google Accounts.
From one of them, a picture was loaded into a Google Album Archive for bloggers.
The URL of the picture is:

That was months ago.
And now I have the URL, but I can't find the Google Account that loaded the above picture.
Embarrassing !

Is there a way to tell from the URL which Google account owns the picture ?

(The same question was asked in Blogger community. The expert there couldn't answer it. He asked me to get help from here.)

Answer:

Having a few account always makes things difficult.
So you only can open get.google.com/albumarchive in the incognito or inprivate window of your browser and then log-in with account A to see if there is a Blogger-folder on top. If not, try account B etc.
Be aware if you delete that picture there, it also will disappear from your blog.
If placed in the blog of someone else, you will not find that picture there.
Good luck

PS: this question does not have anything to do with Google Photos directly.

Answer:

My question stands: Can one determine, from the URL, which Google Account owns the picture ?

I searched all my Album Archives in all my Google Accounts and can't find the picture  :-(
But since I have thousands of pictures everywhere, it is possible I may have missed finding it.
(And it is definitely my picture !!!)

It would be most helpful, from the URL, one can determine which Google Account has the photo. That would narrow down the search I have to do.

Answer:

Sorry, I can't be more clear because I assumed that the blog was yours.
But if you open photos.google.com for account 1 and you type "ben bullen state forest", Google will find that picture - if not try account 2 etc.
Don't blame us - just volonteers here and no help from Google available.

Answer:

The blog is mine.
However, where the blog was written, and where the photo was stored, are at different Google accounts.

It was loaded via Google Blogger.
The photo is not at photos.google.com

How do I search a photo in Album Archive ?
I can't find a search facility like in photos.google.com

So my question stands: Can one determine, from the URL address itself, which Google Account owns the picture ?

( "...Don't blame us...
Haha ... not blaming you  :-)
You are doing a great job !
I'm blaming Google for designing an image's URL which can't allow an ordinary guy like me to determine which Google account owns it ! )

Answer:

Normally an image used in a blog is uploaded straight from your computer, so it does not need to be stored at Google at all.
But as far as I remember from Blogger, you also could upload from your own archive in the same account as used for managing your blog, but also from some general adress on the public web.
That archive (get.google.com/albumarchive) contains the same photos as on photos.google.com under Auto backup, but also can contain photos added to Google Maps in random albums or Panoramio in the very past. See https://sites.google.com/site/picasaresources/album-archive
I can add no more, sorry.

I'm adding all holiday pictures to an album. I select all images by selecting the days, and add them the to an album.
Some photos has multiple photos... Best shot/original, multiple photos taken at the same moment, ....
When adding all photos to the album, by selecting the days ... Not all photos are added. Only the first is added.
Now I have to add all 2nd/... Photo in a separate action. 🙁
Is this a missing feature? An option?
Thanks

Answer:

@Adriaan (like my second name :-)
You are not quite clear about multiple, because burst shoots are shown as a single item and it is up to you to select the best one and discard the rest.
But if it are 3 shots of the same spot, I only would have the best one in my album else it becomes boring to view or printed in a book. However: such secundary pictures would have been not refused to get included in your album and thereby you need to be more clear.

Answer:

See screenshot in attachment... Only the first image in the serie is added. I want to share the full serie via an album.
Also the AI sometimes crops photos as it thinks this is a better photo. Only the AI photo will be added to the album, which is not always better.
Kind regards.

Answer:

I do see the problem now because you are shooting bursts and I don't see a solution for that because albums do not contain copies, but references only. And Google will not change that.
Maybe I discover a tric, but that will take some time - just volonteers here.

But Google does not crop anything unless in their automatic creations and that is out of your control.

Answer:

But I found a good solution: install the simple Google Gallery Go app. Then you also can view such a burstshot and pick the first good one and then select Edit in > Photos and do a basic edit and then choose Save as a copy. Then go back to the Gallery and select a second good one and repeat the same actions etc. Then you may end-up with 3 good copies in Photos which can be assigned to your holiday-album and you may delete the original burst-shot for using less space.
Just try.

Question: Why are my photos disappearing from my phone and Google account? Moto G8

Photos don't save at all or disappear later, sometimes says device only but they can't be found.

@Mark
Motorola's seems a bit special, but Google does not delete anything. However with all notifications on (as usual), you may be advised to free-up X GB on your phone (not in cloud) regurarly and if you agree without understanding, the originals will get removed indeed - but their copies should stay visible in the Google-app.
If not, you are not logged-in with the correct account.

I have already checked my shared albums as other posts recommended, but the album I hid was not shared. I don't know why it let me hide it, since I've read that you aren't supposed to be able to hide unshared albums, but the fact is that I can't unhide it via shared albums, and I can't find any other ways that you're supposed to be able to unhide it.

Hi Illuminati,

Thanks for posting in the Google Photo Community.

Just to let you know that there isn't any option to hide photos. As you've mentioned that you've hide the album accidentally, could you please share me the steps to hide an album.

However, it looks like you've deleted the album accidentally, could you please check for the same photos in the "Photos" section in the Google Photos?

Keep me posted.

Question: Recover permanently deleted photo

Check in bin, and request for photo recovery

abdul rahim 2448,

When you attempt to manually empty the trash bin in Google Photos, a warning message box appears that explains you are about to permanently delete those pictures and videos. If you choose to proceed anyway, there is nothing that any of the volunteers in this forum can do to help you recover your pictures.

The information on the following Google Photos Help pages will help you become more familiar with finding, deleting, and restoring your pictures:

If you deleted pictures or videos that were not previously backed up to your account through the Google Photos app, then unfortunately there's nothing that Google or any of the volunteers in this Help Community can do to recover them.

Files that existed only on your phone, ones that were never uploaded to the cloud, cannot be recovered or restored by a cloud storage service. Simply put, Google can't help you recover files it never had in the first place

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

However, once a user deletes something permanently despite a warning message or allows the content to time out in the bin, Google doesn't maintain any backup.
There is no way to get back the content through Google Photos.

Nevertheless, you may install to your Android device a deleted photo recovery app (be sure to not pick one that requires rooting) https://play.google.com/store/search?q=recover%20deleted%20photos&c=apps;
and run a scan for anything to recover.

I had archive my photos and I got a lots of json file that i have no idea what is these? also the size of my restore is larger than I see in my photo gallery which is 15 GB but the restore is 41 GB ?!

Also many photos has duplicate file and like JPG.EDITED

Answer:

That is the garbage you get when using Take-out without any knowledge because Google does not tell you.
What you get is not what you see on https://photos.google.com but on https://get.google.com/albumarchive for the same account.
And every picturefile has got an additional json-textfile containing metadata which seldom is relevant.
And if you did edit pics on Google Photos, you will get that secundary file.
And if you never have created neat albums, you will have thousands of dayfolders each containing the pictures shooted on that day - but a folder also maybe empty if that picture is deleted.

So a quite unusable backup and that also may explain why it uses so much gigabytes.

But how did you know about 15 GB, because that is the limit of your free storage at Google?
See https://www.google.com/settings/storage and tell us about the values for Photos, Drive and Gmail.

Answer:

@Global System, the Jason files etc are only useful if you have specialist software.

I suggest you search for json and bulk delete, same for EDITED and what is left should be the original jpg images, or png etc

Regards,
Peter

Answer:

Yes, but the json-files are small and don't explain the large difference between 15 and 41 GB.

But the number of pictures you can see on https://get.google.com/albumarchive may far exceed the library on https://photos.google.com and there even can be a lot of duplicates or even triplicates due to albums created on Photos, but also to the use of other Google applications like Blogger, Google+ Hangouts, Maps,  Panoramio etc.

So the only realistic question is: what do you want to do with it in any future and is there any alternative to do it much better?

Goodnight from here / Rinus

No, only new ones get uploaded in original quality from now. It would be a fairly hopeless task to exchange the oldies, so forget about.
Be aware that will not make any difference in quality for viewing, unless for movies which will start to take many GB's soon - so prepare that you need to pay for more space soon.
Best

But when I have changed the quality of photos then it is again taking backup of all photos of previous year..
That is more than 3000 pictures

How can I stop this??

This will result into double time upload and waste of my internet and waste of space

do I have to delete it again

please resolve

Answer:

That would not happen with normal pictures from your own camera, but I suspect these low quality and undated social media stuff like from Whatsapp. Or Google just is checking if they need to be re-uploaded because they were removed from cloud.
Best to check what is going on in the real cloud at photos.google.com in the Chrome-app and that is even more easy on your laptop. Then you need to log-in with the Gmail-account used for backupping.

Hi, Kashvi Singh 7625

Although there are multiple ways to transfer the content from the internal memory of the phone to an SD card, doing so through Google Photos allows retaining the backup and sync aspect.
Please follow the steps below to achieve the transfer.
  • Open Google Photos.
  • Tab Library.
  • Tap the desired folder under Photos on the device like Camera, Screenshots etc.
  • Select photos by long pressing then tap others after the tick confirms the first selection
  • You can also long-press and stroke down while still in a pressed condition, to select a batch.
  • Next, tap the 3 dot menu top right.
  • Tap Move to folder.
  • Tap New SD folder, type a folder name then tap Create.
Note that if the photos are backed up to Google Photos this will not remove them from the Photos, and even if the new folder is not selected for Backup & sync any contents will still be deleted if you delete that using the Google Photos app.

Google Photos never uploads the same picture multiple times.
What we see as duplicates have some differences in file format or metadata.
Additionally, if you have activated Raw + JPEG capture or bracketing in your phone app, that would create duplicates.

Regrettably, Google Photos doesn't provide any means to remove the apparent duplicates. You have to search those manually.

However, you will find some tips in the following article on how to avoid duplicate photos & how to remove those.

Question: I need to recover my deleted videos from 2018

I need to recover my 2018 some personal videos

Abu Siddik 9463,

All the solutions seem to involve using another computer or device which I can't do right now. I ideally want something that will delete a large amount of photos without deleting all my Google photos. I don't get why this isn't built into the app.

Hi, Avi Moses

Welcome to Google Photos Community Support Forum & thanks for your query.

I suggest you read this article first to understand the process.

When you delete a photo in Google Photos it will also be deleted from all synced devices. In practice that are only mobile devices (phones and tablets) since syncing with computers has been disabled. There are however ways to do this:
  • Disable Backup and sync on the device
  • Move the photo to a non-synced folder before you delete it from Google Photos.
  • Once done, open the link https://photos.google.com through any browser on your phone, log into your Google Account & start deleting the unwanted pics.

Thanks for the response ā¤¸ी⤕े, when I go to photos.google.com it just redirects me to the Google photos app and then asks me to re-enable backup and sync.

Hi,  Avi Moses

Thanks for your reply

If you are accessing the site on the phone, then usually an option emerges "Stay on the web".
If not, you need to access the website through a desktop PC.

Answer:

You should open photos.google.com in the Chrome-app within the Google-widget - then you will not have the redirection problem. Or in the browser (like Edge in Windows) on your laptop, but then you need to log-in with your gmail-account of course.

@User 57...
When they still are in trash on the Library-page, you can select and restore them.
But if that trash is emptied (either by you or by Google after 60 days), you can't restore anything anymore.

However, if I do a Search by year or month & year, they are correctly grouped, dated, & located. How can I fix this?  And more importantly, why did this happen?
